Here.

OP posts:

That is normal for central London but hotels are always more expensive than anywhere else. We'll find a bar that's more reasonably priced. The theatre is close to Covent Garden and there's loads of bars round there. Failing that, there's always the offie.

LyraSilvertongue · 15/01/2008 20:05

So, you, Berrie and Binkle will already be bosom buddies by the time I get there. Feeling even more nervous now. :-s

oggsfrog · 15/01/2008 20:15

Hope we can find somewhere cheaper. I'm up to nearly £200 on costs already, and that's without eating on either day or visiting anywhere, let alone having a drink.

Can you suggest some good places to visit that are free/cheap?

I remember Covent Garden vaguely... lots going on/buskers/street theatre etc? Is there a Hard Rock Cafe there too? (distant memories from 23 years ago)

LyraSilvertongue · 15/01/2008 21:00

£200!!!
I'll have to have a think about where to go.

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:13

You can put an order in with me if you like Oggs, I can get something and bring it on the train We'll have ourown hotel bar inmy room!

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:26

Have got a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rose Champagne festering in the fridge doing nowt if anyone fancies having that in the room? Dont remember buying it - I've a feeling it was given to us by the hotel we got married at - cant really think of an occasion to crack it open at home - dh keeps suggesting having it in the bath together or pur-leaase - I'm a mother now dear, baths are sacred room-for-one-only events nowadays

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:27

You made me larf!

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:28

Just read your post to DH, made him larf too!

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:29

I am very worried that I am going to get carried away and make myself sick! I'm totally out of the habit of social drinking. I know when to draw the line at home but even typing to you all online makes me fancy a drink!

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:31

true though isnt it?

I had an accident today..we've got a solid wood foor in our bedroom. Most nights the dog sleeps up there with us. Well, you know that thing that dogs do, they find a spot they like, circle a few times, then settle on it - because she is so fluffy and furry she has effectively buffed a large dog shaped area of the floor to a traction-inducing shine - so much so that even in bare feet I today went flying on my arse on it It is smarting a little round my left botty cheek I can tell you...

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:32

Oggs, galleries are free...some of them anyway and some museums. Blimmin' Westminster Abbey is £15 so maybe we'll give that a miss though I did fancy seeing the tombs of the Kings and Poets and seing if the old cathedral atmos might make me believe in God again (highly unlikely but wouldn't it be nice?)

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:33

You'll be fine, we'll pace ourselves

seriously, nobody wants to be too drunk to enjoy the performance.

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:33

Oh no! Sounds painful!

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:34

Oh dear, do you have to be drunk to enjoy it?

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:36

it was, good job I am sturdily built and all

I am glad we're sat in the gods and not in the really dear seats - if mi laddo mead thinks I'm buffing up the coffers so he can take Mrs tarty pants to fancy restaurants with my money he can forget it

LyraSilvertongue · 15/01/2008 21:37

Alkies.

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:38

Oh what a dirty slapper. How old is she?

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:38

No, think we might need to be a bit drunk to get over the nerves of actually meeting for in RL though

I know we are all normal and funny and interesting and all but its still quite a BIG THING - well to me it is anyway - I dont get out much

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:38

You can talk Mrs!

binkleandflip · 15/01/2008 21:39

she purports to be 33 she looks older to me

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:40

Berrie tries to recall last time she went out without DH...

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:41

So it's like me seeing a 30 year old...

LyraSilvertongue · 15/01/2008 21:41

You'll be fine with us, love. We won't lead you astray.

Berrie · 15/01/2008 21:41

Except it's not...26 is borderline sensible adult...in fact for a man not quite...

LyraSilvertongue · 15/01/2008 21:42

I thought dvo was 36, 10 years older!!!
