Here.

Yes, I think DH had been biting his tongue for a long time but realised it was the only way to stop me walking. And yes, I have told him I'm going to see Joseph, he just hasn't discovered my secret passion

Re the docs - are there not any sympathetic ones you can talk to? If they can't tell you're suffering from depression, then what on earth are they doing? Basically, I went in there and burst into tears on the poor chap and told him I was depressed. He was lovely (I wouldn't see any of our female doctors, they're all unsympathetic witches). We discussed the various options - excercise, therapy and drugs. I went for drugs, and began to feel better almost immediately. So good luck.

LyraSilvertongue · 08/01/2008 11:28

There is one who's very sympathetic but he's a wait-and-see-what-happens type.
There's another who dishes out the drugs like smarties so maybe I'll see her.

binklegoestoLondon · 08/01/2008 11:28

Poor you Lyra I didnt realise it was more than just feeling a bit down

If its any consolation I think this time of year is always a bit wobbly especially when you have dc's as its such an emotional 'let-down' after the build to Christmas etc.

My dp is also very cynical about depression etc. I have never taken ad's so cant offer any advice but I have had very, very dark times in the distant past and I know how crushingly lonely and isolating feeling depressed can be. I think most women (particularly mothers) are very good at pretending they havent a care in the world to the outside world but are in knots inside.

Someone said that when your depressed you have to make little arrangements ie going for a coffee with a friend that you have to look forward to and gradually build up. At least we all have a great big wonderful thing to look forward to in a few weeks right?

Berrie · 08/01/2008 11:32

Go for it Lyra. The biggest shock once they start working is how you had come to accept feeling so bad without realising!

Berrie · 08/01/2008 11:34

I'm lucky. DH suffers from depression too so he understands.

Berrie · 08/01/2008 11:36

I always get worse this time of year.

Zebedeedoodah · 08/01/2008 11:40

The biggest shock once they start working is how you had come to accept feeling so bad without realising! Berrie, that is soooooo true.

Berrie · 08/01/2008 11:41

Just rang the Doctor. He says just take the diclofenac
Don't know that I'll get to work this week then.

Berrie · 08/01/2008 11:43

I started taking double ad's every other day last month and I feel GREEEAAAAT! Don't know why I stuck to the smaller dose for so long! (great apart from being laid up of course)

LyraSilvertongue · 08/01/2008 11:56

Thats the other thing, I really will be kicking myself for letting it go on so long and wasting all this precious time with DSs.
Binkle, I'm starting to suspect that your DH and my DP could be the same person living a double life

binklegoestoLondon · 08/01/2008 12:04

Well he DOES go to London a lot I have actually accused him of having a double life before now Lyra but then I reasoned that there can only be one like him, two slipping through the net would be a travesty

LyraSilvertongue · 08/01/2008 13:21

Well I rang the airline and they've cancelled our flights to Crete for no charge as I only booked them a couple of days ago. Back to square one...

Berrie · 08/01/2008 13:27

Oh Lyra...I'm sure you'll find a really nice holiday.

Take DS out of school! He'll be fine! I'll send you stuff to do with him while you're away

Zebedeedoodah · 08/01/2008 13:36

You're all going to totally hate me now, but DH has just won the Best DH in the Entire World Award....ever. He's just couriered me not one but TWO pairs of new f-me shoes he bought for me in the sales, complete with sexy red soles. And they're gorgeous! I take back anything I ever said about him. But hell, I deserve them!
And I just went up to the gym.

Yes, right now, Zeb's life ain't so bad. So Lyra, really do hold your doc hostage until she hands over the happy pills.

binklegoestoLondon · 08/01/2008 13:37

Oh Lyra, what has your dp said about that? Did he tell you to cancel or have you done it because he has upset you and kind of spoilt it?

binklegoestoLondon · 08/01/2008 13:38

Are we talking CL red soles Zeb? If so I am very

Berrie · 08/01/2008 13:51

CL red soles? Do they sell those in Tesco?

Berrie · 08/01/2008 13:52

I am so going to be the poor relation...

Zebedeedoodah · 08/01/2008 13:55

You don't think I'm allowed to wear them outside do you? He's already threatened me with a violent death if I even attempt to walk from the car to the house in them.

OMG, I just checked the labels. They ARE CL They're DEFINITELY not going anywhere near the farmyard!

Berrie · 08/01/2008 13:57

I have never met a stiletto wearing Farmer before...

Zebedeedoodah · 08/01/2008 14:24
Grin
binklegoestoLondon · 08/01/2008 14:28

I am indeed

Not to worry I have my new extremely desirable Clarks boots from the sales (with flexible soles if you dont mind!!)

oggsfrog · 08/01/2008 15:08

Gawd I might as well just start every single post with...

"At the risk of seeming like a total dunderbrain"

At the risk of seeming like a total dunderbrain, what are CL shoes??

LyraSilvertongue · 08/01/2008 15:10

What are CL shoes? I'm so not a shoe person, as you may be able to tell. You do deserve them Zeb. What a lovely DH.
I cancelled the hol because rows with DP had spoilt it anyway. I rang him to tell him and he said he'd just got his head round going. Doh! Not sure where we'll go now, but def somewhere cheaper.
Gotta go and get DS1 from school now...

LyraSilvertongue · 08/01/2008 15:11

We can be dunderbrains together Oggs.
