Welcome to our new home Berrie, Zebedeedoodah, Oggsfrog and Binkleandflip.
Hope you all find your way here.

He had a head mic on and it failed for ages, the woman eventually bought the hand mic but that didn't work either until she then turned it on.

LyraSilvertongue · 16/11/2007 21:32

Oh, I must have been wiping a pooey bum when that happened.

Lordy Lordy...will be dreaming about snivelling on the pavement with my face pressed up against the Ivy's windows looking at you and Lee....

LyraSilvertongue · 16/11/2007 22:51

I'll smuggle you in Berrie. You can sit under the table gazing at Lee's shoes and I'll pass you morsels of food.
DP said "so, do you want me to set up a dinner with Lee Mead then?"
I, trying to be cool and calm, said "well, if you can it would be very nice".

Are you still watching Children in Need? He's back on later, I think I heard Terry Wogan say. Damn, I was just thinking of going to bed (I have streaming cold).

Was it Binkle who declined the chance to meet him? I'm sure her butler offered to introduce them.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/11/2007 00:23

Berrie, did you stay up (methinks no ).
Lee just performed his new single. Cant say it suits him. He should have done a cover of Paint it Black or some such.
Going to bed now.

Tee Hee of course not but am cross I didn't record it...actually...the more I see of Lee in conversation, the more the fantasy is spoiled!
Would it be lunch of an early or late dinner Lyra?

Berrie · 17/11/2007 08:27

We could all come and you could text us just as you are leaving and we'd all acidentally bump into our old friend Lyra on the pavement outside. We'd take a group photo with Lee of course your DH could take the pictures.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/11/2007 10:29

Or you could book the next table.
I can't see it actually happening. And he does seem to be pretty hard work, conversation-wise. But maybe he's fine off camera.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 17/11/2007 10:49

Humph...
I quote Berrie, "I am mad, but not a stalker...I like Oggs, that's all...

....unlike the rest of you!"
Do the rest of you really not like me?????????

I presume Lee was on the tv last night? ... go on then, give me all the details what did he do/sing/say/wear????

LyraSilvertongue · 17/11/2007 10:59

Well, he kicked off Children in Need last night at 7pm. He sang Any Dream Will Do, wearing all white (I think it was the stuff he wears under his Joseph coat on stage) and was joined by children's choirs around the country.
At one point his mic failed and all you could hear was the kids
Then he did a short interview with Terry Wogan where he chatted about singed nasal hair .
Later on he sang his new single. He was pretty good and really enthusiastic and smiley and dancey but the song wasn't that great. Didn't show off his voice to full effect.
That's it really.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 17/11/2007 11:28

Go on... I've got to ask.... singed nasal hair???????

Berrie · 17/11/2007 15:36

No no noooooooooo!
I like Oggs and not the rest of them...is what I meant...but twas a pretty feeble quip.

The most embarrassing bit was when Terry mentioned the rear of the year award and he made the crucial part of my anatomy comment again.

Berrie · 17/11/2007 15:37

Have just cancelled DS's birthday party tonight. DH is ill and I just can't make birthday tea and look after kids at same time. Don'e think he really realises.

binkleandflip · 17/11/2007 15:40

Lyra, you are like the Elton John of mumsnet you are so well connected! I cant believe you might potentially be schmoozing it up with Lee at the Ivy!!

I know you say it might not come off but I really hope it does because it would be so good just to see what he is like in a normal setting charisma wise and then you could of course report it back to us...

I watched his opening routine in my hotel room in York before I went out and felt a bit gutted for him when the mic failed - as for the talk of singed nasal hair...well, I reckon he should maybe just stick to singing and looking pretty until he ups his anecdotal repertoire a bit !

oggsfrog · 17/11/2007 16:16

Aw Berrie. That's a shame. Hope dh feels better soon, and that ds isn't too upset. Will you have it another time?

C'mon, c'mon, what is all this talk of singed nasal hair?? I presume this is to do with the rear of the year mention? I did wonder what was going on

Berrie · 17/11/2007 16:34

Tee Hee yes that's it Oggs.
I think there must have been a firework at the end of the song that he was standing too close too. He was talking about his singed eyebrows and nasel hair.

Yes we'll have it another day...if I don't eat all the party food first!

oggsfrog · 17/11/2007 16:36

Have you booked the hotel yet? I've found this site that seems to be offering a room at The Strand Palace for £87.75 rather than the £129. What do you think?

binkleandflip · 17/11/2007 18:11

Yes sorry about the party Berrie, hope you can get it sorted out..

Is the Strand Palace where you are both thinking of staying then?

There's not long to go now.........

Berrie · 17/11/2007 19:15

Yep, but it wasn't 129 for a single Oggs. thought it was 92ish.
Are you still able to come? How are you going to travel? When will you arrive? Let's book! I'll check the Strands own site tomorrow, if it is only £5 diferent, I'll book with them rather than a 3rd party I think.
It was only family who were coming to the party. They popped in anyway with the presents, I just didn't have to do mass catering. DS was v. happy with the party food I opened and his cake.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/11/2007 23:12

Video to Gonna Make You A Star

OP posts:
Berrie · 18/11/2007 07:32

Thanks Lyra!
But oh dear! What were they thinking about? What is that song supposed to be about? Who is supposd to identify with it? Who wants to listen to it?

I caught the end of Strictly Come Dancing last night. He is either on tonight or perhaps next week. I'd have thought tonight. Sometimes the weekly show interviews the singer who performed too but they'll say tonight if that's the case.

oggsfrog · 18/11/2007 09:52

Bum. When I look on The Strand's own site there are no single rooms for the night of 30th Jan. Just checking that other site...

oggsfrog · 18/11/2007 09:57

Berrie, where are you? No rooms for 2 either...

oggsfrog · 18/11/2007 10:00

It is the 30th Jan isn't it?
