Fisil, thanks for coming back. I would love a lift, but where is easiest for you? which way would you be going? i am in sw17 but can come further your way to be picked up - what do you think?

buffettheturkeylayer2 · 08/12/2004 10:40

If you are coming to Richmond the easiest way is to get a train to Mortlake as the restaurant is a minute away. If you come by train get off and walk up the road towards the shops (not away from them towards the green) - the restaurant is on your left hand side and a minute away.

Buses from Richmond include the 33 and the 337, 493 and 485 (But not sure if the last two run all day!) - \link{http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/spiders/pdf/richmond.pdf\see here} They go along the Upper Richmond Road to East Sheen and you want the stop immediately after Waitrose and Safeway (which are on your left)as it is the stop before Sheen Lane. Get off the bus and continue walking in the same direction. At the traffic lights turn left and walk down Sheen Lane towards Mortlake station. The restaurant is on the right hand side opposite a petrol station.

The 419 will drop you by Mortlake green by the look of the bus map - but I have never used this bus and am not sure that it runs all day.

Mrsdoolittle and I are coming from Oxford to Paddington on the train. This may sound thick, but when you say train to Mortlake, where would we catch it from? Do you mean the tube?

buffettheturkeylayer2 · 08/12/2004 12:45

Trains run from Waterloo. But your best bet will be to get the tube from Paddington to Hammersmith and then either the tube from Hammersmith to Richmond (and then a bus as below) or a bus from Hammersmith - the 33. The bus station is at the top of the tube station. You would get off the bus at the stop AFTER sheen lane - near Woolworths. Then cross over the road, go back on yourself to the traffic lights and turn left etc etc!

PamiNativity · 08/12/2004 12:47

Fisilhohoho, Cas73 and I are both in Wimbledon, so could meet you at the station. Not sure what time though!
I take it that the restaurant serves soft drinks (boo hoo) and that we don't have to bring our own???

yuleicorn · 08/12/2004 13:15

hi mrsbigd.. I think I may get a train from Brentford.. will check that it stops at Mortlake.. otherwise Brentford train does go to Putney and can change there.

Maybe you could get an E3 and which goes near Brentford station + I could meet u?

yuleicorn · 08/12/2004 13:16

meant an E2!!!

MrsDoobaubles · 08/12/2004 13:16

Oh hell, the tube could take ages. Could be standing forever at Hammersmith Angry
I'm sure there must be a quicker way

foxinsocks · 08/12/2004 13:29

isn't paddington on the bakerloo? you can go straight down to waterloo and get the train from there to mortlake. Much easier and no faffing around with buses. You won't wait long for the tube

MrsDoobaubles · 08/12/2004 13:30

Thanks foxinsocks!

foxinsocks · 08/12/2004 13:38

it may not be as quick as going via hammersmith but you won't get lost at least. Just check the train times for the waterloo to mortlake bit (they normally run every 10-15 mins) but better to check the exact timings before you set out so you have an idea which trains you're aiming for!

(you can check on the railtrack site or journey planner on transport for london but I'm sure you know that already!)

buffettheturkeylayer2 · 08/12/2004 13:53

well done foxinsocks - my brain isn't working today!

mummylove · 08/12/2004 14:51

I am very sorry for hijacking this thread but I was trying to get all your attention in a thread under the "Days out Rec" subject but there had been no replies on it.

I am just trying to see how many mothers in my local area (Kingston Upon Thames)fancy something fresh and fun for the new year. I am starting up my own music sessions for babies and toddlers but different to the groups around right now.

I have just secured a lovely venue and will be starting early February.

If you are interested then email me and I will send you more details.

Hope to hear from you.

Sorry - hope I dont get told off Grin

foxinsocks · 08/12/2004 16:07

that's ok buffet!! in fact, when I checked on the transport for london thingy (to see if Padd was on bakerloo - couldn't remember) - it quotes your route as the way to go (and a very complicated one involving going to Hammersmith, then Barnes and then the train!!)

MrsDoobaubles · 08/12/2004 16:15

Sorry ladies, I should explain. I used to live in Shepherds Bush and my sister used to live in Twickenham. I have done buffets route before and I know how slow it can be. I was just wondering if there was a quicker route. I'll see what oldiemum thinks

OldieMum · 08/12/2004 16:18

I have a gap in my brain where a map of SW London should be and I will defer to anyone with some local knowledge. But I do know where the Bakerloo line is.

MrsDoobaubles · 08/12/2004 16:20

We'll get there Smile

OldieMum · 08/12/2004 16:22

Yes, if I can get myself to Lake Victoria, I can get to this restaurant.

MrsDoobaubles · 08/12/2004 16:23

Exactly

buffettheturkeylayer2 · 08/12/2004 18:16

Paddington to Waterloo (via Bakerloo) then Waterloo to Mortlake is probably the easiest, and possibly the quickest, route.

Dev81 · 08/12/2004 21:20

whats the best way to get there from oval or is there anyone that could give me a lift? would be much appreciated:)

SilentBite · 08/12/2004 21:42

dev get yourself to waterloo and get the train to mortlake

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 09/12/2004 11:51

yuleicorn - checked journeyplanner and there seems to be a direct train from Brentford to Mortlake at 1921 getting there at 19:50. Didn't think it was THAT far LOL must be the SLOW train

cas73 · 10/12/2004 15:02

Hi Fisil,
Where are we all meeting tomorrow? (I'm really looking forward to this Smile!!)
