Morning all!
Stocks & shares eh Binkle? He's not one of those hedge fund types my DH keeps having lunch with is he?
Sad news about Lee, but hardly suprising. And you don't need to worry about single hotel rooms, I'll just sweep him back to DH's swanky flat (I'll send DH off on some important meeting to one of his European offices hehehe)

As for locations, Lyra & I can probably both help with tubes & so on. But basically, Liverpool St is only around 15 mins by tube to Embankment/Charing Cross. Both these stations are a spit away from each other and at the end of the Strand, so, hand on heart, it is almost impossible to get lost. Failing that, taxis work!!!

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 09:50

OMG.
DP and I have been invited to have drinks with the Chancellor of the Exchequer at 11 Downing Street!!! And apparently the PM might be there too!
Or rather DP has been invited and I'm "and partner".
What the hell will I wear?

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 09:53

Binkle, cheque went in the post this morning

Lyra, that's really thoughtful , and it would be brilliant if you could. Thankyou.

Berrie, you're right it's £92.50 for a single room. In the description the twin room has an ensuite listed but the single does not [hopelessly naive emoticon] - does that mean it doesn't have a bathroom ?. I'd be willing to fork out the extra. I'm just relieved to know that I'll have someone to hold my hand (metaphorically ), and won't have to head off to a hotel on my own [wuss emoticon].

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 09:58

Get you Lyra. Hob-nobbing with that lot!
I'd wear a bright blue rosette saying 'vote Cameron', but hey, that's just me!

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 09:59

Your new boots of course Lyra!... with a fetching short skirt and a Lee badge. I can send down some lucky heather so's you can give a subtle nod to Gordy's roots

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 10:00
Grin
LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 10:02

btw, when I say DP and I have been invited, there'll be lots of other people there too, not just us. i couldn't cope if it as just us.

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 10:13

Just as well. I'm not sure a bash with just you and him would be a barrel of fun...don't forget to nick any goodies and spill the gos afterwards

Berrie · 31/10/2007 10:32

Tee Hee Hee Oggs...thought your post was going to continue and it's on the 30th Jan!
Go on then Lyra...who does DP write for?

Berrie · 31/10/2007 10:39

If you are sure Oggs. Shall we wait until you have your travel sorted to book?

Berrie · 31/10/2007 10:40

Err...sorry, I meant Tee hee Lyra...I din't really think Oggs was hob nobbing in Downing Street!

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 11:00

Tsk! I've just spent 5 mins skimmimg up and down wondering what you were talking about Berrie

But what about the toilet?? Do we get one each?

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:03

They'll be en-suite I'm sure.

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 11:04

Humph! and just why don't you think it could possibly be me hobnobbing at Downing Street, may I ask????

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:08

Shall I answer that Oggs?

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:09

Snigger!

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 11:14

Can I pick your brains re: the tube?
I'll get the Express from Stansted to Liverpool Street Station (Do I access the train from within the airport? How long does this journey take? How much does it cost?).
Presumably I'll be able to access the tube from within the Liverpool Street Station itself? How do you buy tickets? In advance? Can you buy a sort of two day pass fro the tube that you can use whenever, or do you have to buy between specific stations? If I get off at Embankment I won't have to change line will I? Whereas if I go to Charing Cross I'll have to change at Embankment anyway?
Honestly, I'll be fine once I've got it all planned and a timetable written down. Im just not one of those people that can 'wing it', I like to know exactly what I'm doing, when, where, and how much it will cost. Then I can relax

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:24

I'll let Lyra or Zeb answer that one Oggs.
I'm still laughing about Lyra asking us what she should wear! Mmmm let me cast my mind back to the last time I had a drink with the PM...people were mostly wearing...

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:31

All rooms at Strand en-suite Oggs

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 11:39

Yay for the toilet! (Not that I'm planning on spending a huge amount of time on it, your understand )
It's bloody huge isn't it? (The hotel, not the toilet) 783 rooms That's loads and loads of people.

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:41

Yep plenty anonymous enough to slip Lee in!

Berrie · 31/10/2007 11:42

To the hotel I meant...or did I?

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 12:20

Ok, I'll answer these as best I can. The Stansted Express goes from a platform that you access directly from within the airport. It's quite expensive iirc, maybe £30? You can get good deals, I think, if you book your ticket in advance. Yes you can get on the tube from within Liverpool Street. And the walk to the theatre is about the same distance from Embankment and Charing Cross, so you're better off getting off at Embankment.

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 12:21

So what should I wear? I'll have to buy something new, won't I.

Berrie · 31/10/2007 12:23

Of course Lyra!

Surely not so expensive I'm expecting to pay less than that to get from home!
