Berrie · 31/10/2007 12:25

Ah yes..sorry..cheaper in advance as you said.

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 12:28

Ok, here we go. Zeb's guide to the underground.

At Liverpool Street, when you get off the train, you walk across the station concourse into the entrance to the Underground - it's right in front of you. You can buy a 1 day travelcard for Zone 1 which allows you unlimited travel within central London from either a machine or one of the kiosks which normally has a huge long queue. I don't know how much it costs though - Ken has been mucking around with it all so much. Failing that, you buy an exhorbitantly expensive single ticket from Liverpool Street to Embankment using the Circle Line (that's the yellow one).

It will take around 20 minutes and you do not have to change at all. But remember the Golden Rule of the tube - you mustn't talk to anyone or look at anyone. They'll think you're a weirdo. So just stare vacantly into space and you'll fit right in

If you are staying at the Strand Palace (or simply if you want to get to the Strand), when you get to Embankment you turn left out of the ticket hall (away from the river) and walk up the short hill until you get to the main road (that's the Strand/Trafalgar Square). Charing Cross station is immediately on your left. MacD's is on your right. I think you should be able to see the theatre from there, but you can definitely see the hotel, both of which are on the other side of the road, as you look right.

We'll move on to directions for my favourite wine bars nearer the time - both of which are non-threatening, un-trendy, and very laid back. But you do pass one of them as you come up from Embankment, which is really really easy. hmmm, maybe that's why I like it

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 12:29

Sorry for the length of that one!

Berrie · 31/10/2007 12:39

And we'll recognise each other because?

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 12:44

Berrie, we'll all recognise you and Binkle from your pictures. The rest of us will remain a mystery until Jan 30

Berrie · 31/10/2007 12:56

nah we all need to wear a Lee wig I think!

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 12:57

I'll be the one in wellies and a kagoule with a glazed/overwhelmed expression, emerging blinking from the tube .

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 13:01

Maybe we should all wear one of these hats
I will be able to exchange mobile no's with you all won't I in case I get hopelessly lost

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 13:04

That hat is hideous.
Of course we'll exchange numbers. We shoud really exchange email addresses too.

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 13:09

I think you all have my email address don't you?

Good luck for this afternoon Berrie

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 13:14

Oh yes, good luck
As Binkle now has everyone's email addresses, perhaps she could compile them into one email and send them to all of us?

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 13:18

We'll recognise Lyra by her boots!

Good luck Berrie!

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 13:20

Lyra I havent add an e-mail from you as yet, did you send one yesterday? If so think my e-mail was having a bit of a blip - could you send it to me again and then I'll circulate all our addresses later today after college

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 13:20

Dont know why I put 'add' instead of 'had' btw

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 13:29

You were writing with a Frnch accent
I sent you an email this morning. I'll send it again in a bit if it hasn't arrived. DS2 is hassling me to carve the pumpkin with him...

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 13:29

French

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 13:37

I think the excitement's getting to you and your keyboard skills.

Berrie · 31/10/2007 13:40

Thanks all...am rather nervous...to make matters worse the Head has just rung and asked me to do a 1/2 days supply tomorrow. Can't really say no to the money but it's a long time since I've been infront of a classful of children and NEVER as a supply teacher!

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 13:47

You'll be fine Berrie, you might even enjoy it!!

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 13:49

What do you want me to do with the tickets?

I can either print them off and send them individually to you or I can bring them altogether on the day. I dont mind which.

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 13:53

Oh, you'll be fine Berrie . Presumably these are Primary School children, not 14 year olds?
I got roped into doing Eco Schools stuff at our school, so every Monday I take charge of the whole school for the last 45 mins of the day

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 31/10/2007 13:57

Print them off Binkle? Do SEE not send them to you?
You can keep mine until the night if you don't mind. It's one less thing for me to worry about.

Berrie · 31/10/2007 14:09

Yes keep mine too.
8 Oggs? That's my kind of school
You obviously don't have much recent experience of inner city Primary classes Oggs they don't need to be 14 to be scary. Not that this is an inner city school fortunatly...

Right signing off now as I have to put lap top in bag as I might use it for a maths game or two!

Zebedeedoodah · 31/10/2007 14:19

You'd best keep mine too Binkle. I'll only lose it.

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 14:30

Yes, keep mine too. Just don't leave them all at home on the night - then we'd be stuffed
