I think the kitty is a good idea.

Dh has looked at the wine list and recommends the Temranillo for those who want red and the the Riesling for the white as the "best value" wines. The is because he thinks the mark-up is horrific (even more that his usual complaint).

We don't know what the monthly house wines are though, which might be better value - if I have time I'll give them a call.

The other thing I noticed is that there is a "dicretionary" 10% service charge added to parties of 6 and more.

Gomez - I don't have your mobile, but I'll drop you an e-mail.

Bobsmum - I'll look for you at the ticket machines.

Looking forward to the evening!

nailpolish · 12/12/2007 08:59

Contingency plan for people going on the 5.30 train is to go to the front carriage and either sit down with a piece of paper with Mumsnet on it in front of them, or look for people with that piece of paper!

Nailpolish - have you confirmed the change in numbers with the Living Room? Don't want to have them charging us for extra people!

nailpolish · 12/12/2007 16:58

no i havent confirmed numbers. i am too scared too as they said they normally only set aside the private bit for parties 20 or over

im just going to blag/plead innocence/bat my eyes at the waiter

i paid a deposit of £100 so therefore we have 20 people going - but oh dear some people havent turned up on the night

mybabysinthemanger · 12/12/2007 17:21

Anyone else coming from the Borders? I'll be coming from Gala but haven't decided whether to drive to rely on our fine public transport.

£££ arrangement sounds good. Also, this must have been mentioned but whose name is the room booked in? As I don't know anyone I'm having a fevered imagining of picking the wrong group and wondering all evening why my constant MN references are drawing blank stares.

Rhumba · 12/12/2007 19:24

happy to pay up prior to meal with a bit extra as a drinker!

Think I'll proabably go through to edinburgh during the days and take the wee un's too see Santa and their reindeer in Princes St during the day. Was hoping to join you around 7ish but wondering where you think you'll be. Will you be in tigerlily til just before 7.45 or what.

NP if i email you again are you ahppy for me to have your mobile then i call as I arrive so i don't have to accost office parties who would be wondering why i'm using weird code and trying to crash their party!

Might be letting the side down in terms of dress as was going for trews and a top, don't think I've got a dress suitable.

See you all then
R

slalomsuki · 12/12/2007 19:34

Ladies when are you going, I am just being lazy to look back through the threads but will be up in Scotland soon and might be able to gatecrash!!

OhGiveUsAPruniPudding · 12/12/2007 19:36

Saturday night slalomsuki
Rhumba I am definitely in jeans and a top
I just don't have any nice clothes!

ChristmasseyHarrisey · 12/12/2007 22:05

Rhumba I am going to be in nice new pink top but black cords. My legs just dont cut it in a party dress any more!

And just realised I dont have a nice jacket that is warm enough. Its the khaki trenchcoat for me, over the nice pink blouse.

Trying to decide whether to try to straighten my hair or if a) the damp glasgow air followed by the b) flipping freezing Edinburgh wind will make something that is a faff for me more trouble than it is wirth, adn so just go all curly as normal!

agalch · 13/12/2007 08:34

Oooooh only 3 days to go lol!!!

Hey Project, what time are we going to leave?
Dh phoned his taxi mate so give me a ring and we can set a time for coming home etc.

prettybird · 13/12/2007 09:00

I've started anew thread putting out a last call for anyone else who wants to come.

I'm really looking forward to it!

nailpolish · 13/12/2007 09:41

the reservation is under my name (RL name) - when you go into the living room, turn right, walk round the bar to the other side (bar is horseshoe shaped) and that bit is our private bit. its about 6 or 7 booths, at the end of the bar

anyone who would like my mobile number just email me!

OP posts:
Rhumba · 13/12/2007 13:15

nailpolish · 13/12/2007 13:22

OP posts:
prettybird · 13/12/2007 13:40

Hw about we agree we will be in the Living Room by 8.25?

That way we can get oursleves sorted by 8.30. By that time I will be 8starving* and needing some food to absorb all that alcohol

nailpolish · 13/12/2007 13:41
