good your ds is in touch with his feminine side..

Kewcumber · 29/08/2007 19:38

it was lovely. Sort of nice to be home, sort of sorry...

DS wears them around his neck as some kind of necklace. Accompanied by a pair of knickers of he can find any.

wb kew, nice visual of your ds lol.

are you off the rest of the week? i'm on an adventure to notting hill with dd tomorrow to take niece out for lunch.

am around on friday if anyone fancies doing something?

mellow, i've missed some posts, are you in glasgow 5 days a week for this contract?

Kewcumber · 29/08/2007 19:47

I'm around Friday - have to sort my mums computer out but that will probably be afternoon as she isn;t an early riser. How about morning? Whats the weather going to be like, anyone know?

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 29/08/2007 19:54

no idea about the weather tbh. morning is good altho (whisper) dd has slept quite late every day this week. mind you, playing with my friends' kids all day has been heaven for us both!

i really really need to have more active days with her as she just has so much energy to burn off and makes her so much more ready for bed.

kew's always a good option and if we go early we'll avoid the mob!

anyone else?

stepfordwife · 29/08/2007 19:57

stylish....

paddle, was just saying to dh other day, haven't been to portobello market for yonks (don't panic..not tryig to gatec rash your lunch with neice!)

would love to meet up with you and kew on friday (if only to see if our dds are looking any more alike - mine's even got a few curls now) but day taken up with dd settling in at nursery, "pre-admission meeting" (?) oh, and 2 lumbering boys.

ach well, if not friday, another time would be fab

gawd, got to go..ds1 is hollering up the stairs that i've "got to accept my responsibilities" as dd is crying

slng · 29/08/2007 20:57

I've got a profile now! Will find a picture some time.

Would like to meet up next week. Very busy this week - office move etc ... Can only do afternoons though ...

Stepfordwife - hope your nursery is more organised. Ours is lovely but took 4 months before I got any information about holiday pay etc!

SJ - ds1 requested potty when 18 months old ("Potty poo poo"). Continued for about a week and then completely lost interest... "Proper" potty training at 2.5. We went Gina Ford. No problems! (At least, no more than is normal, I think.) We have a kiddie seat from Mothercare - has handles on side, for timid children afraid of falling in, I guess!

rosmerta · 29/08/2007 20:59

stepford, lol at ds1

Hi everyone else! Paddle & Kew, not around on Friday this week, sorry, would love to have met up.

Sj, I'm free tomorrow if you're around? Didn't really have anything in mind though.

rosmerta · 29/08/2007 21:00

I did buy a potty for ds today but it was more so that I can leave his nappy off for a bit to try and clear up his nappy rash, he has it really really badly atm. Whenever I take his nappy off, he always does a poo (sorry if tmi!). Can't wait until I've got the wooden floors sorted!

SJ99 · 29/08/2007 21:27

Hiya

Ros - do you want to come round tom afternoon for play & cup of tea? Cannot do morning as have to go to docs.
Anyone else welcome too. If weather's good the boys can play in the garden.

Not sure I can meet Fri as have parents coming over on Fri afternoon for a week so need to finish cleaning the house & cook a feast.

Slng - glad kiddie seat has handles, was worried that DS might fall through as he's so small

SJ99 · 29/08/2007 21:29

Happy Birthday to Foxie for tomorrow - enjoy the massage

Mellow, glad job is going well. I have tried the cream, it's really good, can I get a tub please? Will have a look again on your website to see if there's anything else.

rosmerta · 29/08/2007 21:38

Hi sj, that sounds good, can you cat or text me your address? I'll give you a call after ds has woken up from his nap and set off then if that's ok?

Happy birthday for tomorrow Foxie, enjoy the massage

SJ99 · 29/08/2007 21:43

Sure, that sounds fine, see you tom

SushiMummy · 29/08/2007 22:12

Evening all. Just a quick one to say hi and thanks for all the kind words. Still not feeling great, think I'll be off work again tomorrow.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, foxie.

Welcome back QC!

Steppie, glad your DH op went well.

Good luck with the potty training, SJ, paddle, steppie and ros (hope I haven't missed anyone?). Keep up the good work, mini-sfx.

Mellow, glad the meeting in Glasgow went well. BTW, the eye tissue repair is really good for my very sore nose.

Right, going back to bed. Night!

mellow2 · 29/08/2007 22:38

Happy Birthday foxie.

Thanks, SJ. Do let me know if there's anything you like.

mellow2 · 29/08/2007 22:40

PC,
I went to a meeting in Glasgow yesterday. It is probably going to be a weekly occurence. But my role is London-based and there seems to be a lot of flexibility about working from home.

sfxmum · 30/08/2007 09:46

dh looks out of the window this morning

'oh god i guess it is all downhill from now into the dark miserable winter'
-he is such a cheerful fellow

hi everyone hope you ok

esp. sushi hope you are feeling better.

QC welcome back

at a loss as to what to do today lucky dd is easily pleased with a walk to playground or C&C

foxcub · 30/08/2007 11:50

Happy birthday to me

happy birthday

stepfordwife · 30/08/2007 15:15

happy birthday, foxie
hope you're enjoying massage, bubbly and choc cake..not all at the same time...

foxcub · 30/08/2007 19:27

Well I had my massage and was able to contemplate a bit and have realised I feel so very depressed about returning to work in 2.4 weeks. My boss has e-mailed me saying that it will take longer than that to process my flexi work application so he wants me to return on my old hours.

I am going to e-mail him saying I cannot return until I have childcare set up and I cannot arrange childcare until I have my hours confirmed, so will be postponing my return until its all agreed. That will give me at least another two weeks with Monti.

My plan is to work 3 days in office/1 at home. Taking one day accrued annual leave each week would mean only 2 days in office until January, which would be fine, but my boss is hinting he doesn't want to agree it (talking about the need to "bottom out" some "issues" around my proposed new hours ).

I need to start a thread to get some ideas on tactics really but feel too depressed

foxcub · 30/08/2007 19:33

My sad thread:

slng · 30/08/2007 21:05

Foxcub - have you talked to boss on phone or face-to-face? Would he be the type of person easier to negotiate with face-to-face?

Sorry I can't help but have great sympathy, having gone back to work part-time (different hours) twice ...

stepfordwife · 30/08/2007 21:22

oh foxie, what a bummer feeling depressed on your birthday

it's such an emotive thing returning to work sooner than you want to and juggling everything, isn't it?

the main thing, though, is to be business-like and "detached" as possible and emphasise the positives (for your boss!) of your suggestions. for example, that working from hom one day will give you more flexibility/scope as you haven't got the time restraints of picking m up from CM, etc.

i always feel down after having a massage, btw. i think it's a by-product of releasing tension.

what's the longest you can stayy off work? obviously it woukld be better and less stressful if this was sorted before you went back.

foxcub · 30/08/2007 21:27

slng - yes its better to talk face to face as e-mails can be misconstrued and he's a nice guy. If you look at my thread you will see there is another agenda going on with the Head of HR

Steppy - I could stay off another 2 months I think before getting into serious debt (I mean I would only get into a teeny bit of debt hee hee)> With DD I just stayed off a year and got into debt and thought "feck it I want to make the most of this". I will deffo not return until its sorted though. My mat cover has been given notice so they could end up with no one in post until I return.

They want me to attend an awayday on 25/26 Sept, whether I am back at work or not!! I am happy to go but would have to take DS2 as I will have no childcare in place until I return to work!!!

Oh Lordy

I have been down about this for over a week so its good to get it out. That's partly why I haven't been to any meet ups (feeling sorry for myself)
