Just thought I would get this up and running before the old one is full.

good morning ele and all

are you and bubble old mates then, ele?

blimey, all that testosterone, bubble
i have a few same age as yours - ds1 is 7 and dd, 2. sandwiched between, hopefully not suffering from middle child syndrome, is ds2, 6.

what's it like going from 3 to 4? (not that i'm thinking of it...)

when i was pregnant with dd, got the inevitable:'Hoping for a girl?.." a zillion times. but - although no-one believed me - really liked the idea of having 3 boys. think i had some rosy image of me in my dotage (give it, oh, another two years..) with my strapping boys looking after me.
now dd is here, i'm really enjoying her - but that's more to do with who she is, not her gender.

how's ds' potty training going, cov? dd is happy to use potty at home then i stick her in nappies to go out. do you put ds in 'big boy" pants to go out?
toddlepip

stepfordwife · 30/07/2007 07:42

toodlepip even...mind you, toddlepip quite appropriate for mother of a 2-year-old

lemonaid · 30/07/2007 07:51

DS has been bitten a lot (must look particularly tasty) and the other children always do seem to get over their biting phase eventually. You need consistency and it's also a good idea to work out what the trigger points are. Does he do it when he's tired, or bored, or looking for attention, or when he wants something the other child has? That can help you to head off future incidents before they happen.

lemonaid · 30/07/2007 07:52

Hello bubble!

eleusis · 30/07/2007 08:23

Kew,
Can't remember any biting problems. But, then my hoodlems have so many bad behaviours that it would be quite easy for me to forget something trivial like biting.

However, DS like to throw things at people. Matchbox hurs are particularly painful. If he throws something at me while I'm holding him I give him a stern "Ouch! No DS" and put him down. So, I'm loud, clear, and disapproving. Haven't considered throwing the car back at him(yet). This norning was cute though. I gave him two cotton balls and he kept throwing them saying "it's ball" and pick them up and throwing them again, and so on. If only we could have cotton cars.

stepfordwife · 30/07/2007 08:52

ele, like the cotton balls..
when ds2 was a baby we made a "ball" for him out of sticky tape. the look on his face when he tried to throw it, but it stuck to him, was so funny. kept him - and us - entertained for hours..

Kewcumber · 30/07/2007 09:28

hello bubble - lovely looking children. I live in errr.. well you can probably guess. Work four days and am around Friday-Sunday.

SushiMummy · 30/07/2007 09:29

Morning all and hello Bubble!

How was the MN picnic yesterday? Hope you had a fun day!

Yes, Steppie, the haircut made me feel like a woman!

Went to see a few houses, mostly townhouses in Kew this weekend. We are getting a bit serious about moving now.

Kewcumber · 30/07/2007 09:31

lemon - so far its been triggered when he's tired and fighting with another child over a toy. He doesn't do it with me so don't get much opportunity to stop him but did discuss with CM this morning so hopefully between us we can nip it in the bud.

Times like this the "dumping your children with strangers" comments on teh WOHM/SAHM threads really make me laugh as CM will be an integral part of helping sort this out. Not exactly a stranger

Finally discovered the beach at Kew this weekend. Lovely for the little ones though perhaps not so appropriate for the older ones. And handily close to a source of tea...

Kewcumber · 30/07/2007 09:32

called off because forecast was rain (though actually it turned out not too bad) we're trying to rearrange for a week or so as weather is forecast to improve from here. OOh imagine, a summer!

Kewcumber · 30/07/2007 09:32

you managed to drag DH to see a townhouse?

SushiMummy · 30/07/2007 09:37

QC, he's keen to live in a townhouse now! Well, we'd love a Victorian three-bed house but they are well over our budget and a townhouse is the only option. There's a nice new one near Barns church and another one off South circular.

Kewcumber · 30/07/2007 09:44

One near Barn church would be convenient for you nursery (can't think where there are new ones though)

SushiMummy · 30/07/2007 09:49

It's towards Lower Richmond Road behind Recreation Ground.

eleusis · 30/07/2007 10:16

So, who has not signed up on the Christmas thread? Please wander over and sign up... please!

sfxmum · 30/07/2007 10:17

morning all

hi bubble welcome

so it appears we have summer this week, think will take up residency at kew so as not to waste it.

dd and dh went to pick up berries yesterday then made a pie for dessert - yum and dd was very proud too.

lemonaid · 30/07/2007 10:35

[Hopefully] I think when they do it fighting over toys it's the easiest to fix and to grow out of. If it's because they like the reaction and the attention then it's more tricky. So you might not have too bad a time of it.

rosmerta · 30/07/2007 11:21

morning all, had a very busy weekend with lots to do so have been avoiding MN to make sure I get it all done!

Foxie, is it still ok if I pop over tomorrow pm? Otherwise I can do Weds am or anytime on Thurs. I just need to let dh know so I can have the car.

How is everyone?

foxcub · 30/07/2007 12:59

Rose - tomorrow pm is fine - what time (presumably your DS will nap sometime )?

Bubble - Hi! Mine are : DS 7, DD 4, and DS 5 months.

Your RL name doesn't start with J does it?

Wel I have an exciting afternoon planned, at the bottom Dr's. (don't ask, I have given TMI already )

Waiting to see if potential lodger calls today

We cleared out about 8 bags of rubbish/charity donations yesterday just from the loft room

I need to start clearing out some old books.

Can anyone remember which books they've lent me which I promised to read?

SFX, Puds, mellow, MrsD, Paddle??? Do I still have any of your books?

rosmerta · 30/07/2007 13:11

He usually naps until about 2.30-3pm so I'd likely be at yours between 3-3.30 if that's ok?

I honestly can't remember which books you borrowed but I know I've got some of other people's as well!

foxcub · 30/07/2007 13:16

Rose - can we say 4pm, as I may need to pop off to shops between about 2-4pm. If we say 4, then I'll deffo be back to see you

Have I still got some of your books too?

sfxmum · 30/07/2007 13:18

foxie have you had mrsRecycle round for tea?

can't remember who has what, i think mellow has some of my chick lit, no idea what as i don't read it, and i have one of yours and one of Ros.

foxcub · 30/07/2007 13:24

Anyone fancy picnicking at North Sheen Rec this week one arvo We/Thurd/Fri? They have a big paddling pool in the LO's playground. We could have a gathering there? Weather is warm and sunny all week.

Am thinking may drive down to Brighton soonish too

foxcub · 30/07/2007 13:24
