I do have a double airbed somewhere, haven't seen it whilst unpacking, maybe we left it in Sweden LOL. Will have a look for it in some unpacked boxes, you can borrow if I find it.

sfxmum · 08/08/2007 23:04

thats ok SJ sorted it out, the are arriving just after lunchtime tomorrow.

regarding contact i do believe at first you cat and after face to face meetings you get sent all our details, or something like that
i believe Kewcumber is the secretary of this club, who administrates and knows all the rules

mellow..
sorry to miss trying out your lovely products. have emailed you with those names

rosmerta · 09/08/2007 08:27

Well, I'm going to have to get out of the house today so I'm going to head to Kew Retail and then to the beach, probably be there 10.30-11, hopefully see some of you there.

2cute - I'd love to pop over this afternoon if you don't mind? I would be there about 3.30 if that's ok?

Mellow - if you want to go to 2cute's as well I could give you a lift. If dd is still in a rear-facing car seat then I can put ds's one in the car for her.

SJ - I usually take ds swimming on Fri pm to Richmond if you'd like to come along tomorrow. Its a lovely pool, I wish I'd found it sooner!

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 09:02

Good morning all

Ros - swimming sounds like fun, yes we'll come along and try it. What's the best way to get there on public transport in case I can't get the car off DH? What time do you usually go?

Sorry will give Kew a miss today as DS has been up since 6am so I will struggle to keep him going. Enjoy the beach those who are going!

QC - how old is your DS?

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 09:07

Going to a christening on Saturday. Haven't been to one before, any suggestions for a last min purchase of a present? It's for Dh's friend's 9mth old baby.

sfxmum · 09/08/2007 09:16

good morning all

frantic housecleaning here[here]

rosmetra - is that pools in the park you go to? i really like it there. hopr the day goes better today.

SJ - i have no idea what christening presents would be suitable these days and in this country. but in my day, it would be keepsakes like first bible gold, silver, little things.
sorry not much help.

SushiMummy · 09/08/2007 09:29

Morning all.

SJ, sorry, never been to christenings in my life.

Steppie, have a lovely holiday in France!

Thanks, Mellow. It'd be great if your DH stays to keep my DH company.

StarryStarryNight · 09/08/2007 10:03

CHRISTENING Presents,
there is a lot of "tack" out there. If you go to Peter Jones, you find really nice childrens cutlery, some are silver plated, some are stainless steel, they are really nice. You also find some really nice frames. I got a photo album with pewter picture frame front for my ds2, really nice.

You could of course buy a small gold or silver cross. If Catholics, you can find "The New Jerusalem Bible" in lovely leatherette binding and with gold lettering on the front. Most good bookshops do them, or you could go in to Kensington High Street, Pauline books and media is a catholic bookshop that also sells religious artefacts too. Good for a browse.

lemonaid · 09/08/2007 10:15

Nice books are always good as christening presents IMO. Or bookends, because other people will be buying nice books.

Paddlechick666 · 09/08/2007 10:39

hi all

for those going to kew beach this morning you'll likely find dd there with grandma.

i can vouch for SJ as we've already met so if it's okay with you lot i can forward the "details" wmail to her......

i like christening presents that can be kept and admired into adulthood. something like a silver music box perhaps? is it a boy or a girl tho?

easier to buy christening gifts for girls IMO. altho the proper china crockery sets are lovely and i like the books idea too. something classic like Beatrix Potter perhaps.....

foxcub · 09/08/2007 10:47

SJ I really like children's bible's as a baptism present (mine have been baptised). You can normally get one in a regular bookshop if you don't get a chance to go to a specialist shop

We've got a contact list going round to all those who have met i.e. we know who they are. Assuming you've met at least one of those people Kew will e-mail it to you.

...can't be too careful y'know

foxcub · 09/08/2007 10:49

I'm going to Kew Beach BTW, but need to feed DS2 then get my passports checked at PO first...its only been on my "to do" list for 5 months

2Cute · 09/08/2007 10:58

3.30 is fine Ros. Let me know if you have any probs finding my house. Foxi - pop round if you're car's out of hospital, mine is going in for a service tomorrow.

SJ - ofcourse you're welcome round, especially if Paddle has checked you out already I'll cat you my details.

You at work today Paddle? Would've loved to catch up with you as its been yonks.

DS has managed to undo lots of the tidying I did yesterday...why oh why did I bother?

2Cute · 09/08/2007 11:01

your car as opposed to you're car

Ros/anyone who who's coming - bring your swim nappy/suit so they can splash about in the paddling pool if its warm enough.

foxcub · 09/08/2007 11:08

Will do cutey

mellow I asked DS1 about Saturday and a huge grin appeared on his face when I said PS2!!!!

Paddlechick666 · 09/08/2007 11:08

yeah am at the office today

finding it very hard to concentrate on work tho - no change there then!

ComeOVeneer · 09/08/2007 12:47

I just thought ds had developed an imaginary friend . I have just popped him down for his nap and am in the study (2 doors away from his room) and could hear him chatting away "you can't come in my room, mummy has put me down for a nap" etc etc. I'm sitting here smiling away thinking he is playing, only to hear a smack then he starts crying. Open door to find cat leaping out of cot and flees out of the door.

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 12:55

COV funny story

Thanks for vouching for me Paddle, I promise I'm not an axe weilding pyschopath, honest. Will try and find your place 2C later on.

Thanks for your pressie ideas - hadn't thought about bible or book ends, will probably hunt for that tomorrow as the parents are quite religious and would hopefully appreciate something like that.

rosmerta · 09/08/2007 13:02

lol COV, tensions are high between ds and our cat atm too!

2cute, is parking ok around yours? Will text you when I'm on my way!

SJ, I had ds baptised and we got lots of the breakfast/dish/cutlery sets, money boxes, photo albums etc. But a friend of ours also bought him some cufflinks which we thought was a really nice keepsake. We got books like these are always really nice as well:
Winnie the Pooh
poetry
fairy tales

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 13:02

Took DS for haircut #6 this morning. The Polish hairdresser did a fab job as he looks like he stepped out of a salon. No crying or squirming either, what a bonus

rosmerta · 09/08/2007 13:03

SJ, how old is your ds again?

Sfx, sorry, yes it is pools in the park I go to, much nicer than Brentford!

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 13:05

Ros - cufflinks, what a great idea and something different. Also keen on the book theme, books always make great presents. Decisions, decisions....

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 13:06

Ros He's 20mths. How about your LO?
