Just thought I would get this up and running before the old one is full.

SJ i don't know just how religious your friends are but some people really do object to fairy tales, anything implying magic etc.

ros - yes pools are nice i take dd there at least everyother week and that is where i was thinking of doing the classes.

COV - funny about ds.

we just don't do pets dh and I. am thinking of ways of fobbing off dd for when the inevitable
'oh please please can i have a kitten/puppy whatever smelly bothersome creature'

think we will give her a sibbling instead

ComeOVeneer · 09/08/2007 13:12

LOL sfx. Mind you I sometimes think pets are easier .

OP posts:
rosmerta · 09/08/2007 13:13

But sfx, surely a sibling can be a smelly bothersome creature also?

SJ, ds is 18 months, I've just replied to your email so hopefully see you this afternoon.

sfxmum · 09/08/2007 13:23

are you calling my child smelly?
yes well well i am in that self deluded glow 'oh lets make a baby it will be lovely'

have fun today and at mellows tomorrow.
dh just went to pick up guests from station.

will have the house full of american accents, wonder if dd will correct them

SJ99 · 09/08/2007 13:25

SFX - parents are pretty religious so I guess I should play it safe and stick with the bible option (and/or cufflinks!)

sfxmum · 09/08/2007 13:30

there is lot of tack about but when dd was born we got lots of dh's christening presents which his mum had kept, really nice stuff.

SushiMummy · 09/08/2007 13:36

CoV, that's funny. My DS started to interact with our cats, well mostly by calling them naughty when they play-fight.

xoxo · 09/08/2007 13:51

sfx: if it's kids bed you need we have two 'blow up' beds. Does that help?

Whilst on the subject: we are changing to bunk beds: a combination of ds growing spurt and us getting fed up with 4 in a bed so getting an adult sized alternative!.
So does anyone want to buy a cot bed (you know - a bed that's first a cot then a bed) and/ or a kids bed?

I'm rubbish at this. I'd never make an advertisment person!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.

xoxo · 09/08/2007 13:55

Oh - SJ -don't do Bible as christening present. From bitter experience you'll find that the por baby has got half a dozen. Anyway traditionally it's supposed to be the grandparents who buy the baby the first bible.

Hope Im not too late!!

2Cute · 09/08/2007 13:56

You'll have no probs getting parking round here Ros.

I've got to dash to Tesco in a bit but will be back by shortly b4 4.

Where's QC hiding?

SushiMummy · 09/08/2007 13:58

Do you like the new fridge, CoV?

lemonaid · 09/08/2007 14:18

Something like an animal encyclopaedia is good. DS got one at his naming ceremony -- admittedly he didn't really get into it until about 18 months but he loves it now. And there's nothing religiously objectionable in it, I think. Or a book about trains. Or if you want to stick with religious, perhaps a nice illustrated story about Noah or something (they must do those, surely?).

MrsRecycle · 09/08/2007 14:28

oh yes lemonaid (hi and congrats!!) my dd1 (aged 9yrs) had a Noah book for her Christening present and loves reading it still. ds got loads of silver boxes and photo frames but the nicest present was a personalised blanket with his name and dob on it. He didn't get any books though

Hi everyone else - have been so so busy at work (working late) and SJ99.

xoxo · 09/08/2007 14:59

Hi guys
I'm in a bit of a quandry.
I'm looking for a nanny share/ childminder for wednesday afternoons. For one child, possibly two (there is teh possibility of ds going to after school club until 4.30 which works well).
Does anyone know anyone who can share a nanny for half a day? Or a nursery that will take one child for half a day?

help!!!!

ComeOVeneer · 09/08/2007 15:06

LOL, sushi, it is lovely. Luckily it has a child lock on the ice and water facility otherwise dd would be constantly eating ice cubes (that is until she figures out how to unlock it. I have just spent the last ten minutes going up and down the stairs to the garage to move all the food from the old fridge to the new one (that is my excercise for the day). I now have excessive fridge/freezer capacity, (we have a chest freezer and the old integrated fridge/freezer in the garage and this new huge american one) and can probably get away with going shopping every 6 months or so .

Erm, I just found out from dh, that the only PS2 game that is suitable for ds1 is a football game. Is that okay?

foxcub · 09/08/2007 17:51

Mellow - ooh yes he lurves footie

Sorry we missed you earlier, we ended up in North Sheen rec instead which was nice and I picked my car up at 5pm, took it for a wash for a treat and a drink of petrol.

foxcub · 09/08/2007 17:52

Hope everyone is having a nice time at 2cutes

mellow2 · 09/08/2007 18:49

Foxie,
That's great.

Sushi,
I'll check with dh. He might need to stay home to set up the PS2 as I have no clue about how it works.

Yingers74 · 09/08/2007 18:56

Ros - tah, I think dh goes through patches of complete regret and then elation! He will reach NY tomorrow!

Kew - don't think you said anything naughty!

Went to the Diana memorial children's park today and was pretty impressed, they had a children's entertainer there and it was all free!!! Well worth a visit.
