Brand new thread for July.

OP posts:

Morning sfx et al

Glad min sfx is getting better, rashes are pretty scarey.

How's wee Gherkin QC? And how's you're sleep deprived self?

Have a fab time rosmerta.

Welcome 1+1 and Mumble (love the name, still haven't watched the film fully as DS switches it off after 10 mins!)

CoV/COD - You sound like me. DH thinks I'm obsessive about cleanliness, luckily DS is the same

Right I'm off to Ealing to endure a 5 hour process of having my hair straightened ...wish me luck.

sfxmum · 06/07/2007 13:34

AIBU in thinking these delivery people should be able to at least specify am/pm?

huff puff at being stuck in house

foxcub · 06/07/2007 18:36

Yes you are being unreasonable LOL! Perish the thought that delivery men should actually deliver customer care!!!

2Cute - so that's how you get your hair so gorgeous is it - 5 hours hard labour?? Mine takes 5 mins - can't you tell?

How is everyone today then, my little chickadees?

have had Polish men in the house all week, so feeling a bit disorientated as haven't been able to relax really...

Solved my problem at work. I rang my boss and said "OK I surrender". He's given me a pay rise and the other issue cannot be resolved to my liking and never will be so I decided to "let it go". Its fine being cross if you can acheive the outcome you want but I would never have been able to. I feel mightliy relieved TBH - can get on and enjoy my maternity leave again. Had a bit of a laugh with my boss about it. I think it has made him think a bit about how he consults with his staff and he knows I'm a stroppy cow now, which will be useful in future.

The Barn Church fair is on tomorrow from 11.30am. Its always a good one - very popular, if anyone fancies popping down there. I have to buy pressies and then take DCs to a paty at 12.30, but will try and drop by.

stepfordwife · 06/07/2007 18:38

hi all

oh god, sfx, i agree. one of my favourite bugbears in fact.
the other one is women who spend ages faffing about in the pub loo, doing their lippie, brushing their hair, preening to their heart's content while i just want to have a wee. i'm a woman of simple needs.

where is everyone else??
are we on the wrong thread? (paranoia creeps in of a virtual cocktail party going on elsewhere.. with nibbles and everything...)

toodlepip

stepfordwife · 06/07/2007 18:40

ah, foxie..there you are [smile} x-posts!

glad that's a weight off your mind
bet your floor looks tiletastic - must get the number off you..
may well pop to barn as ds2 got a party in marksbury av

stepfordwife · 06/07/2007 18:42

even

foxcub · 06/07/2007 18:43

What time is your party tomorrow?

Those Polish guys are fab - so much more civilised than the English builders my dear!

Is it quiet due to the sun being out do you think?

foxcub · 06/07/2007 18:44

Steppy - did I mention that woman who was stalking me at the school? You were sitting next to her last week at Snakes and Ladders (she sat between you and I). She's my new best friend at the moment and is being all luvvy dovey again !

sfxmum · 06/07/2007 18:46

foxie that is a relief! shame about the other bit who knows there might even be some advantages you can't quite see yet.

steppie - adjusting of tiny boobs in push up bra in front of mirror while pouting, makes me want to kick them up the behind

2cute i am to impatient for that kind of thing, my requirements are a haircut that i can wash and go and not look totally deranged.
i do lights every 10wks or so and it bores me

where is Kew? hope little one is ok

foxcub · 06/07/2007 18:51

sfx - part of what made me change my mind was I remembered that two women I raelly like work in the part of the building we will be relocated to - so I can chat with them over there, and another woman I like has just moved there too. So I can keep out of boss's way and chat to my mates!

The other factor was that one of the Director's suddenly died of a heart attack on Wednesday evening. he was 49 and leaves a wife and 4 kids, tow of which are under 10. He was playing football with some of his staff and it made me remember what a lovely place it is to work (where the Director's play football with the lads) but obviously it also put my gripes into perpective a bit.

I think my boss appreciated me backing down a bit, 'cos he knows he's treatd me badly and said it was magnanimous of me to "forgive" him for being so crap. He's under huge amounts of bressure and his partner is having a mastectomy so I feel a bit sorry for him. he's got enough grief atm, without me heckling from the sidelines too

sfxmum · 06/07/2007 18:58

but also a little reminder that the job must on and he needs to focus better and not take for granted.
shame about the heart attack bloke so young (am sounding like my aunt now)

have you forgiven the other little upstart?hope you devote some time preparing a suitable vengeance

Kewcumber · 06/07/2007 20:04

KewC checking in. Little gherkin much improved today - first day of eating ans drinking since MOnday and now of course has the runs due to AB's but that will wear off.

Sushi - is Riverside Fair Sat too? does it clash with Barn Church. If the weather is OK I will certainly do one (or both of them), assuming gherkin cotinues his improvement.

I have a permanent headache at the moment - think its just sleep deprivation.

Foxie - did your DS give you the message - I couldn't come as DS was still asleep at 4.45!

SushiMummy · 06/07/2007 20:26

Evening all.

QC, glad DS is better now. Riverside Fayre is on 14 so it won't clash with Barn Church.

Foxie, glad the problem is behind now and congrats on your pay rise!

Been busy sorting out our Scottish holiday in Sept. Mum is coming over from Japan, too so that'd be fun.

foxcub · 06/07/2007 20:43

Sushi/Kew - I'm going to Riverside fair too next wek - was discussing it with DS1 last night (when we were rushing to a tennis lesson which wasn't on anyway - how come everyone else but me knew it had been cancelled? )

Kew - yes DS1 did - he's a great receptionist Your DS must have needed that sleep - did you sleep too? I intended to nap but couldn't as I can't relaxed when there are strange burly men in the house!

sfx - hmm not sure what to do about the Evil "X"!! He gets very wound up when people won't sooperate, so I can try a bit of that. It will really get his goat if I play games [evil grimace]. I think the fact that I won't be onside anymore will piss him off as I was one of his bestest friends at work - me and the head of HR. I can never trust the ejit anymore and will do the minimum to help him basically.

Childish, but satisfying.

SushiMummy · 06/07/2007 21:06

is anyone watching saving planet earth on bbc? we can actually hear the music from home.

sfxmum · 06/07/2007 21:30

KC glad to hear ds seems to be on the mend

foxie i think inspiration will come when you see him

sushi - i am on strictly escapist viewing blood and guts preferably although i might watch JK Rowling later on

hope you all have a good nigh

foxcub · 06/07/2007 21:52

Sushi - where are you again?

SushiMummy · 06/07/2007 22:09

this was on bbc1. well, i thought it was the summer jazz thing then thought it's far too early.

sfxmum · 06/07/2007 22:12

had a peek when you mentioned fancy neighborhood, one day her majesty another day another queen

Kewcumber · 06/07/2007 22:25

I saw a bit of it on TV sushi but can't hear it from my house. Can sometimes hear the summerswing stuff and the fireworks. Off to bed with my headache and hoping for a full night sleep.

stepfordwife · 07/07/2007 08:59

morning, all

foxie - ds1's party is 12-1.30, so i'll pop to the barn after pick-up then will probably take them to the rec to run off some testosterone (even dd)

oohh, yes, i know who you mean. but you're nobody if you haven't got a stalker, dahling...(note to myself:must get myself a stalker today)
hope this doesn't get picked up by MN's jury..i'll be damned for making light of stalkers

kew, glad ds is feeling better and hope you had a good night's sleep

have a fab day everyone

stepfordwife · 07/07/2007 09:01

Kewcumber · 07/07/2007 13:48

I went to the Barn church and it was very pleasant - typical ld fashioned church fair and safe for DS who spent the whole tie going up and down the steps into the chruch and walking in a circuit throgh the tea room and back again. Lots of highly amused patrons watching his expedition particularly when he took the waste bin on one circuit. Hopefully he will go off to sleep now for a couple of hours and I can get some shut eye. have a horrible feeling I'm goetting tonsilitis as I have a sore throat...

Kewcumber · 07/07/2007 13:49

do we think the rain will hold off tomorrow ?
