Brand new thread for July.

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 11:58

lol at minisfx, am hoping ds is ok, he's at nursery!

mellow2 · 20/07/2007 12:06

I just hope dd is as excited by thunderstorms or she'll be frightened out of her wits when we get back to Malaysia. We get very dramatic lightning when there are thunderstorms and it happens every afternoon for most of the year.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 20/07/2007 12:27

one of my earliest childhood memories is watching thunderstorms in Africa by the sea all very dramatic

ros - are you shipping the kid of to the grandparents this weekend?

will be avoiding this site and assorted other websites - evil evil spoilers

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 12:28

My internet went down during the thunderstorm. I hope DS2 is not scared senseless, he is also in the nursery now. I rather had him with me.... oh get over it woman! Slap. He is fine.

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 12:29

... and that slap was directed at myself, not other women who share their concerns for their LOs in the nursery.

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 12:31

lol starry, ds has been fine during the other storms we've had but just thinking if any of the other children are scare will this set them all off? I'm sure they're both fine!

Sfx - dh is indeed taking ds off to MIL tomorrow , there will be a thread on here to chat once you've finished it. Speaking of which, why didn't you come and theorise?

sfxmum · 20/07/2007 12:36

token slap to starry pull yourself together woman

ros no i refuse to get into any conversations which might take over my free time
currently obsessed with music had forgotten how much i like it.
been booking stuff to drag dh to

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 12:45

Hi everyone (and welcome all Newbies!)!!

Hope you (and your LOs are well!). Gosh so much to catch up on.

PC - keeping my finger's crossed for the house move, if you need packing boxes, let me know, I have a garage full.

KC - it's nice when they start talking - ds1 was adorable at his christening - saying "allo" to the Priest and congregation. He has just started nodding his head and saying No to everything.

Foxcub - hope ds2 has settled down after his feeding frenzy. I was hoping to pop round after work tonight to clear some space in your house - is that okay? don't worry if you're busy, I'll just run in and pick the stuff up.

ele - will email you.

My news - I've been very ill (strapped to a bloody neubiliser for 5 days), my Grandma nearly died (but looks like she's recovering now) and work has been the most stressful ever (but am still loving it). I would love to meet up with everyone again - can we not do a mid-week evening meet-up in the next couple of weeks? I was thinking of a Sushi bar or somewhere is Putney (for the newbies!)

Paddlechick666 · 20/07/2007 12:47

I just discovered that my waterproof jacket is not.

I am at work, wearing a white t shirt and a black bra.

The men in my office are enjoying their impromptu wet t shirt competition.

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 12:48

sorry pc - pmsl!!

Paddlechick666 · 20/07/2007 12:52

bloody hell MrsR, hope you're okay now. sounds stressful your end. ds sounds very cute tho. dd is currently sticking her head around doors, corners, out from under the table etc and yelling "'elllloooow" with a rather odd essex accent!

thanks for offer of boxes, will bear in mind. tbh, am fully prepared to lose this flat. had letter this morning confirming offer and stating for exchange on or before 28th August, as agreed! ROTFLMAO! I certainly didn't agree that and they are being rather optimistic!

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 13:03

Paddlechick: Thats a style faux-pas to remember, what were you thinking, black bra and white tshirt?

A few years ago the men in my office stripped down to boxershorts, even the sales director. The office was so hot, conservatory style, windows opening out to a narrow backyard in St Martins Lane with stagnant air and no aircon! They all hang their suits and shirts around the office and only got dressed for meetings! PMSL

Mrs Recycle, hi nice to meet you, sorry to hear you had a rough time. Putney is great for a meet up . I will be away from 26th till just about school starts again...

sfx, thanks for slap.

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 13:06

Nice to meet you Starry - my dds (aged 9,6) have now gone away for the whole of the summer until 3rd September (we get to have a few weeks at the caravan with them in August). Where are you going - anywhere nice?

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 13:09

Mrs Recycle, I have two boys, aged 5 and 2. My husband works in India a lot, and he goes down again for a few weeks next week. I fly up to Norway with the boys to see my parents, and when we all return mid august we will take our campervan to Europe untill school starts again on the 4th.

we just bought this old ford transit camper van, should be fun! Any campsites you could recommend?

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 13:13

Camber Sands - we're there most weekends/holidays staying in our static caravan!! The beach has just been recommend on the Mumsnet monthly newsletter.

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 13:27

Mrs S, Just checked out the website, that looks very nice indeed! I think our camping will be a little more, ahem.... basic. We will be touring central Europe (most notably Poland and the Chech republic, Austria, Germany and Holland)

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 13:30

Oh how exciting for you - a real bum around Europe - you might bump into my dad - you can't forget him - he's a clown!! yes really (that's blown my street cred!!)

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 13:43

Really, a clown? That is unusual. (A friend of mine ran off with the circus when she was 19) I will look out for clowns!

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 14:37

I didn't know people still ran off with circuses? Wow!

Starry, sounds like you'll have a great time, am v

Must get ready, as soon as ds wakes up we're off swimming

butterbeer · 20/07/2007 14:43

SushiMummy says that Cho San in Putney is really good for sushi (well, I think it's really good too, but she knows what she's talking about). And conveniently it's really close to me...

CountessDracula · 20/07/2007 14:44

cho san is great isn't it?

mellow2 · 20/07/2007 14:50

MrsR,
Sorry to hear you were ill. Nice to hear from you though.

PC,
That's must be the speediest exchange I've heard of in this country.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 14:51

Shall we arrange a meet-up then in the next couple of weeks? CD - do you have any dates you're free as I know you are a very busy woman!!

MrsRecycle · 20/07/2007 14:53

Thanks for your wishes Mellow - must admit dh was quite worried (takes a lot for him!). Feeling brill now!

StarryStarryNight · 20/07/2007 14:56

butterbeer, cho san is close to me, too!
I have never been there, tbh, I have been quite bemused by the name, as it is a condom brand in my home country. Need to shake off that thought!
