I was looking at the calendar today, trying to schedule various work commitments, and realised it's next Saturday! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone but also anxious - don't know why ....

Perhaps I won't be a newbie after next week - it's acting as some kind of initiation ceremony!

StarryStarryNight · 02/07/2007 11:57

Funny that BecauseIamWorthIt, that is how I see it too. But I am not sure it will be possible for me to come.

Though I have not even mentioned it to my husband yet, as we have his friends over from India this month, and saturday just gone I had a dinner invitation so he was home with the kids, and cant really bring myself to ask him to stay home with the kids next saturday too. I also think he is planning for the whole family to go erm.... camping together with our guests....

MarieCeleste · 02/07/2007 20:19

I am a maybe; I think I'll have to stay as such if that's OK.

Have no desire to be a Tsarina, SSN Good on yer for doing it for Wandsworth though.

Let me know if you do want more than a maybe from me.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/07/2007 23:11

I have booked a table for 8 people, on the basis that it's easier to downsize than get a bigger table.

I do need to confirm the numbers, but I guess Friday will be fine.

Hope you can make it!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 03/07/2007 09:04

What name is the table booked under? I won't be around much on MN till then as I'm busy this week, but I'll be there for sure. (I'm on 07946165726 if there are any change of plans.) Thanks.

In my name - goodness, giving it away! - Starr

magnolia1 · 04/07/2007 10:22

Well I nearly had to cancel coz dh wants to go camping BUT the ground is soooo wet he thinks it will be to boggy for camping

StarryStarryNight · 04/07/2007 11:04

Lol Magnolia, we have a campervan, but with 6 people 2 need to sleep in the awning, think it will be too cold and soggy.... so we will see....

StarryStarryNight · 04/07/2007 12:10

Well, that is me out of the equation. My Darling Darling DP has just informed me that he is taking his friends motorbiking this weekend Friday till Sunday, they will sleep in a tent somewhere, and I am welcome to take the kids in the car and come join them for the night...

magnolia1 · 04/07/2007 12:14

Oh Can you not get a babysitter?

StarryStarryNight · 04/07/2007 12:24

I could, but the only two babysitters I have ever used work weekends.... So, really I should look at finding new alternative babysitters that does NOT work weekends. But that requires forward planning.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 04/07/2007 18:06

I wasn't sure whether to go camping this weekend either as DH will be in Spain and he hates camping, so it would have been a good opportunity for me to just take Dd and DS. I don't want to make plans with this crappy weather, though, so being nice & cosy in a restaurant and meeting new people wins!!

StarryStarryNight · 04/07/2007 19:29

Hats of to you Cristina, you actually would take your kids and go camping on your own? tent? where do you normally go?

eleusis · 04/07/2007 19:45

sitters.co.uk. They never let me down.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 05/07/2007 19:13

SSN - "normally" has only been 3 times so far and every time organised by DS's Woodcraft Folk group, so we had it easy. This time would have been the first to take them on my own, so I'd have had to buy cooking equipment etc. DH camped for one night only when he joined us on a 10-day trip and he declared it's confirmed all his prejudices and he's never doing that again.

MarieCeleste · 05/07/2007 22:10

Thanks, BIWI, I see no reason why I shouldn't be there now - my dad is considerably better. So please consider me confirmed. Looking forward to meeting y'all

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 08:00

Ok so now I'm pretty nervous
And be warned Ive had a crap week so in need of a very large drink or 2 or 3

MarieCeleste · 06/07/2007 09:52

Well, I didn't want to mention nerves myself We're all in the same boat, though

StarryStarryNight · 06/07/2007 11:12

I am again a "maybe", as it seems both the camping trip and the motorbike weekend is off. Won't hold my breath though.

As for nervers, it is like a platonic mass blind date , LOL

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 11:15

Oh goosy staryy, tell dh you looked at the weather and it's going to be like a monsoon so camping and motorbiking would be veeeeeery sill
But eating dinner in wimbledon is the best place for you

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 11:16

Ok I am not calling you a goose I meant to write goody!!!!

StarryStarryNight · 06/07/2007 11:23

Eating dinner in Wimbledon indeed sounds like a good place for me ... I have had such a horrid week I think I also need a couple of stiff drinks.

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/07/2007 13:57

OK - I'm thoroughly confused about who is a maybe now, so I'll leave the table booking for 8!

On a practical note - how will we recognise each other in the bar?! (Other than we will all be knocking back large, stiff drinks!)
