Writ it in big black permanent marker on your calendar and inform your DHs.

Carmenere, are you coming or do I have to stalk you? Speaking of which, where do you live? Details details.

I'd say book for 6. If people don't show up, then we have a bit more elbow room.

Will do this on Saturday I hope - got tickets to see Muse at Wembley [smug] which starts in the afernoon so may not have time.

Will definitely do it sometime at the weekend/early next week.

bump again!

Right - have booked a table for 8.30, giving us time to get there/find it (and each other!), and have a drink first.

I've got a copy of the menu, which is divided into the following sections:

Sharing platters (from £3.95 - £11.95(
Small dishes (from £3.95 - £6.50)
Soups (from £3.50 - £6.50)
Hot wok & pots (from £6.95 - £7.50)
Stove grill & rotisserie (from £6.50 - £15.95
Roots & leaves (from £3.50 - £8.95)
Sides (from £1.95 - £3.00)

The menu is pretty wide ranging, covering oriental/thai-type stuff through to British/American and more modern European dishes - fish and chips, flamegrilled burger, bbq garlic prawns with a coriander dressing, etc etc

Menu is very long, which is why I haven't typed it all, and also it will be changing, possibly around the time we go - but it should give you an idea of likely cost/things you want to eat.

magnolia1 · 23/06/2007 21:37

OOOOOOOOOOOO Yummy

Although not sure about roots and leaves

So who is coming, have we all confirmed?

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/06/2007 23:55

Well I'm definitely confirmed!

Have booked a table for 8 just in case - but have said I will confirm exact numbers nearer the time.

DH is away that evening, so can also offer drinks back at BIWI towers for all those who want to carry on afterwards!

StarryStarryNight · 24/06/2007 22:13

Hi, I am fairly new, mind if I join?
I have two sons, aged 5 and 2, live in Putney.
Do you all know eachother already?

magnolia1 · 24/06/2007 22:16

I don't know any of his lot Starry, probably all axe murderers and the like but I like a risk

StarryStarryNight · 24/06/2007 22:51

Lol, I am also a risk taker then, where is it?

BecauseImWorthIt · 24/06/2007 23:14

I don't know any of them either!

You're more than welcome to join us.

Drift is on The Broadway - the main street that runs through Wimbledon (not the village, but the rest of it).

If you head down from the village, past the station and then past the theatre, Drift is about 100 yards further on on the left hand side.

Want to join us?

BecauseImWorthIt · 24/06/2007 23:15

Whoops - sorry, right hand side!

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/06/2007 23:25

So what about it? Who is actually coming?!

StarryStarryNight · 26/06/2007 23:51

I am not so sure. I was just today told by my insurance company that they will only authorize courtesy car for 14 days, but the garage wont have our car ready for 3 weeks. So I have no transport! Not keen to take a cab back and forth.... Will have to see nearer the time....

BecauseImWorthIt · 27/06/2007 08:12

Can you not come down on the tube? It's only a few stops from Putney to Wimbledon, and the restaurant is only 5 minutes walk from the station.

Or come down on the tube and go back in a taxi - it will be a bit cheaper!

Go on ... !

magnolia1 · 27/06/2007 10:14

I am getting a lift there and taxi back to Epsom

StarryStarryNight · 27/06/2007 12:11

The travel arrangement would appear to be a minor issue, I had forgotten about the houseguests.... Shall try persuade hubbs to stay with the kids, but it means leaving from home around 6.30, which is early, and he has friends over from India, so I think me going on a mumsnet meet up takes second place to showing his friends a good time on a saturday night...

Carmenere · 27/06/2007 12:18

I'm still planning on coming, if you'll have me!

magnolia1 · 27/06/2007 13:31

Carmenere, I should think so too as this thread is for you

eleusis · 27/06/2007 15:53

You better come, Carmenere!

You can invite DH's friends to the mumsnet meet-up. What kind of entertainment skills do they have? Do they tell good jokes? Do they dance? Or better yet, do they buy drinks for snotty middle aged fat American mums?

Well you can invite them and if they don't want to come then oh well you tried. And then you can come guilt free.

PS I would never give up a mumsnet meet up to entertain DH's chums. God, ar you crazy, woman?

We better have some drinkers this time. Las time we had one sickly one (Jura!), one driver and when I turned to the last person at the table on hopes of her being my drinking buddy she said "I'm pregnant". So, it wasn't much of a booze up. But, we can make up for it this time.

eleusis · 27/06/2007 16:34
