A long, long time ago, during a beautiful Christmas Season, Santa Claus was preparing for his annual trip around the world. However, obstacles grew in his way since very early morning.

Four of his elves got sick and the replacements were not making toys fast enough, so Santa was worried they may not be ready on time. Then his wife informed him that her mother was coming for an extended visit, which upset him greatly. On top of that, when he went to harness the reindeer, he found out that three were in an advanced stage of pregnancy and two had run away - God only knows where to. Santa Claus got even more upset.

As soon as he started to load his sleigh one of the runners broke off, sending his bag on the ground and spilling all the toys out. Pissed off Santa decided to go back inside for some coffee and a big scotch. When he opened his liquor cabinet he discovered that the elves stole all the booze, so there was nothing left to drink. Shaking with anger Santa dropped his coffee mug, which shattered into pieces all over the kitchen floor. So he went to get a broom to sweep it, only to discover the broom had been eaten by mice!

At that precise moment somebody knocked at the
door...Santa opened the door. A little white Angel was standing there, holding a beautiful Christmas tree.
The Angel exclaimed with glee: Merry Christmas, Santa Claus! Isn't it a wonderful day today? I've brought a tree for you. Look how wonderful it is! Where would you like me to stick it?

And that, my dear children, is how the tradition of putting an angel on top of the Christmas tree began!

ha ha, i like the joke Mishi!!, sorry i cannot make it next thursday as baba is having her injections in the afternoon.. i was showning baba a picture of Wallace & Gromit and she was smiling her head off and was trying to communicate with them - bonkers!!. my baba loves watching telly, as soon i turn the tv on she turns her head round and her eyes are popping out so whenever she is crying and im trying to wash the dishes, i put baba in her bouncer, turn her round to watch tv and she stops crying and is really still for 10 mins.

FeastofStevenmom · 03/12/2004 18:06

Hi everyone!
Fast - hope you had a good time with the ILs at the zoo.

Fancy a Norris Green meet=up next week? Turns out that it's the only Liverpool City Library with a copy of next months book club book in!!!! Any idea what's the best buggy space bus to get from town?

fastasleep · 04/12/2004 13:31

The zoo was good, but they wanted to stop at every single cage/glass thing/pond and talk for ages about the animal/insect/whatever! It was like carrying around a TV with the discovery channel turned on all day! We were there from 10-4, so tired, especially as I had to carry Theo to see the animals lots.. But it was good there was an eight week old chimpanzee, so cute! Hope you had a nice time at sticky fingers!

oOoh a Norris Green meet up, you brave person Laura! I'd love to come to that lol, never been to the library and, pathetically the only buggy friendly bus I know of atm is the 14, although I might be able to glean some info off Tony later ... you could even maybe, venture around to...my house! I don't know what we'd do though? Eat cake? Shrug Can do any day of the week except Thur/Fri...anyone else?? Or anything else anyone wants to do? We could brave a park or something lol, find a new group maybe? Anything

biglips · 04/12/2004 18:50

ive been out all day in lpool city centre -xmas shopping with my mates... im knackered and ive got a works do tonite at the Pan America in Albert Docks ( i just want to curl up in bed at this present moment so i had an hour bath instead, it was bliss!). hi everyone- sorry that you are feeling a bit rough - mishi/julez/fast

fast - what about tomorrow or wednesday for our library meet-up? coffee and cake at yours sounds absolutely fine - after all what do us SAHMs do other than that Grin

FeastofStevenmom · 06/12/2004 17:16

Hiya - got some info on some SureStart events in Wavertree/Picton area if anyone is interested;

think these all finish next week, then start again after Xmas:-

Monday (12-1) and (1.30-2.30) Beginners Step with Free Creche at WAM on Wellington Ave (just a few minutes walk from Frontline Centre).

Tuesday 9.30-11.30 a.m. WAM Toddler group

Wednesday 9.15 - 11.30a.m. WAM Art and Craft Group (+creche)

Wednesday 10.00 - 11.00 a.m. Toddlers.com at Harthill on Gainsborough Avenue (for older toddlers introducing them to computers!)

Thursday 11.15-12.00 a.m. Beginners total tone at The Mystery Children's Centre - in same place as Picton Sports Centre, five minutes or so walk from Frontline Centre

I've also got a timetable for Granby SureStart if anyone is interested - a lot of groups/classes mainly at St. Silas Church.

I went to the Story/Play Session at Toxteth Library 1.30 - 2.30 today. very nice SureStart Creche worker doing the session - but it's in a bit of a big but grotty/dusty/dirty room. so couldn't 100% recommend it. I probably will go again, given that its one of the few things a short walk from me.

from what I can gather the SureStart events are open to everyone - you don't have to live in the area to go to them. they just don't register you/let you have any free home safety equipment etc if you are not in their area.
