Brockwell Park!

What about a Brockwell Park meet-up? So many current MN-ers are in Brixton and surrounding areas, and so many others have nostalgic memories of Brockwell Park from when they used to live here.

An informal picnic close to the cafe on weekend afternoon? A breakfast in the cafe?

I can think of me, Bossykate, Batters, Bungalowbelle, Zeitgeist, Hallgerda, the people who were on that coat-ripping-bus thread, Spidermama, Rowan1971, Floating, Tiredteacher, SandraDee, Evey, Serenity, Drospophila (I think).

Who's up for it?

Floating, - no-o-o-o-o please don't chicken out!

I will have our Bat Kite, which may or may not be flying depending on wind and competence!

BK is lovely, you'll recognise her because she will be racing her McClaren up the hill Jeremey clarkson stylie to prove their worth over Bugaboos, but beyond that, v freindly.

NB I don't actually know if BK does have a McC and if i did I wopuldn't post it for fear of compromising her anonimity!

We've been ill. ds2 and I had it a couple of days ago, dd1 and ds3 have been sick in the night (dd1 put head over top of cabin bed so as not to be sick on bed and it splattered from a height into the open wardrobe - nice).

I could come with DS2 only and leave dh with 2 ill kids and a toddler who is bound to get it at some stage, but I'm wavering.

I really want to come to this. It's meant for me. I'll decide in the next half hour.

The sea is very blue and very calm in Brighton today.

Spidermama · 20/05/2007 12:59

DH is actually in bed now feeling sick and two of my kids were sick in the night. I really thought this was going to happen and could see nothing in my way all week.

DRAT AND DOUBLE DRAT!

I'm not going to make it. I genuinely am so sorry and it's such a lovely day for it. I know I'll be missing out big time and I can only hope it goes so well you'll have another which I will be able to go to.

If I still lived just off Railton Road I'd leave the sick house for a couple of hours, but as I'd be driving from Brighton it's just too much.

Shite.

It was lovely to see you all, and DS1 was very upset to be dragged away from Floating's little girl! Hope to do it again soon.

DaphneHarvey · 20/05/2007 21:58

Oh pooey pooey pooey poo. I would have loved to come to this, but I just don't spend enough time on Mumsnet to have known this was going on. DH and I were going to take the DCs to Brockwell Park today, but we decided on Dulwich Park instead. I have lived in Brixton and Tulse Hill. Know every inch of Brockwell Park. Now in East Dulwich but still consider myself a local. Next time, I will try and keep an eye open for the relevant Meet-Up threads. Would have loved to meet Belgianbun, I feel I know her from other threads on here, didn't realise she lived so close to me! And all you others. Poo, poo, poo. Hope you had a lovely time. Sniff.

rowan1971 · 20/05/2007 22:33

Shame you missed us, Daphne. We had champagne, alfresco sex with strangers, a live puppet show and all sorts.

I just wanted to add - thank you to Blu for arranging it

and apologies for what DS2 did to your kite

hope your very handsome son can forgive us!

Blu · 20/05/2007 22:45

Oh, yes, Rowan was fantastic in the puppet show, I can tell you!

Lovely to see everyone - Spidey, so sorry you couldn't make it and hope everyone gets better v soon - hope La Fillete Batters is not struck down too badly...I'm sure our kite will survive a little ice cream and a well-applied wipe...and i guess the rats got lucky....this time!

Really nice to meet new people, and catch up with more familiar.
