Anyone fancy a south-west London mini-meet up?

I feel a bit shy asking this, but reading various postings there appear to be a few mumsnetters in my area - south-west London/Surrey/Middx and I wondered if any of you fancied meeting up? I was thinking of a small group, maybe a dinner/drinks in Richmond or Putney one evening. Or would anyone prefer a daytime thing with our children in a park? If anyone's interested, it would be good to do it over the next few weeks. If no-one wants to come out and play I'll have to disappear and change my mumsnet nickname!

I am in Pimlico and would be keen for either! DH happy to babysit or I am not going back to work until 5 August so could do daytimes (I have a car).

I'm up for it.

SofiaAmes · 19/06/2002 20:00

yes, me too...i'm in nw london and work in west london, but have car and will travel. I work during the day so it would have to be an evening or weekend for me.

Fionn · 19/06/2002 20:50

Wow, I'm chuffed! I would prefer an evening, just didn't want to exclude anyone who wanted to meet up but couldn't get babysitting. I don't work and dp works from home so I can go out any evening more or less. Would most of you prefer a weekend night? And is Richmond/Putney OK? I'm a short bus ride from Richmond and on the Putney -Waterloo train line, so either is fine for me. Also I know a few good restaurants in Richmond, but welcome any other suggestions for venue.

sat or sun nights/days better for me. prefer non-smoking or relatively smokefree venue as i'm 6 mo. preggers.

florenceuk · 19/06/2002 21:10

Sounds great! Putney would work well for me (I'm in Wimbledon).

bettys · 19/06/2002 22:09

Ooooh a social life beckons! I'm bang in the middle - SW13 - so either Putney or Richmond would be fine.

bossykate · 19/06/2002 22:16

putney slightly more preferable to me - i'm clapham/brixton - but richmond not too much trouble! don't mind a weekend. don't know too many places around there - canyon in richmond is good, and putney bridge has a good reputation, but both on the expensive side. i've heard good things about ma goa in putney for those who like south indian. pizza/pasta would be fine with me as an easy option. would prefer somewhere with a bar to which i can sneak away and smoke to avoid exposing sofiaames (and anyone else) to the fumes!

oooh i adore south indian food and never get to go as my dh complains that it is too spicy for him.

SofiaAmes · 19/06/2002 22:47

sorry fionn, it looks like you are just going to have to keep your mumsnet nickname AND organize us all.

ks - I pass Guilianos every time I go there on the way from the car park to the High Street but have never been in, just tempted by the window displays! I will try it. I usually go to Don Fernando's for an evening meal.
SW Londoners - shall we arrange a date first then sort out a venue? SofiaAmes prefers Sat/Sun night. The ones I could do are:
Sat 29 June, Sat 20 July, Sunday 21 July, Sat 27 July, Sun 28 July, and probably the first weekend in August, then could do last weekend in August but that's a holday so people might be away. Could also in theory do Sunday 30 June but as England are going to win the World Cup that day dp won't be in a fit state to babysit!
Let me know preferred dates!

Are former residents of SW18 but now living in E1 allowed?

SofiaAmes · 20/06/2002 08:21

I can do any of those except first weekend in august. (28th of july isn't great, but could make it)...I thought america was going to win the world cup.

I want to come too as my SIL lives in SW so I'll stay the night with her.

ScummyMummy · 20/06/2002 10:23

Yes- this sounds great! Ma Goa is fab or was last time I went (about 3 years ago). I loved the last meet up. I'll do my best to keep my chain smoking to the minimum or go outside with bossykate!

I can do all the dates you suggested apart from 29 & 30 June, Fionn. Thanks for suggesting this, by the way.

florenceuk · 20/06/2002 10:56

Can't make the end of June but will try to make any of the others - as I missed out on the last one in London would dearly like to make this one.

CAM · 20/06/2002 11:09

Definitely prefer w/e BTW

LKM · 20/06/2002 11:45

Any of the dates you suggest except Sun 21 July are fine by me Fionn. I look forward to being able to stay a bit longer this time (Portugal was great btw!)
