Anyone fancy a south-west London mini-meet up?

I feel a bit shy asking this, but reading various postings there appear to be a few mumsnetters in my area - south-west London/Surrey/Middx and I wondered if any of you fancied meeting up? I was thinking of a small group, maybe a dinner/drinks in Richmond or Putney one evening. Or would anyone prefer a daytime thing with our children in a park? If anyone's interested, it would be good to do it over the next few weeks. If no-one wants to come out and play I'll have to disappear and change my mumsnet nickname!

If anyone wants to contact me about arrangements on email via Mumsnet that's fine. I'll count up who's coming later this weekend and try to book Ma Goa.

LKM, florenceuk, bettys, CAM, Scummymummy, Batters and Clucks, are you all still able to come?

Maybe we should make it 7 or 7:30 because by the time we all arrive, introductions, gossip etc. it may take us an hour to order....just a suggestion...i don't really mind either way.

Willow2 · 12/07/2002 21:57

Doubt I could make it much before 8 - ds is demanding I put him to bed at present.

Dunno what happened there....

bettys · 12/07/2002 22:46

Yup, I'm still coming. Fairly flexible on time, too.

Was unable to attend either of the last two London meet ups - but would be interested to know whether there was certain "etiquette" involved. Do we go by our real names, reveal our chat names or keep them hidden - or go by our chat ones? To be honest, anyone with half a brain will be able to work out my chat name if it's the former - not that I am bothered. Just wondered what everyone did on the other do's.

bossykate · 15/07/2002 06:30

my recommendation (based on attendance at the last two london meet ups) would be not to make an issue of revealing chat names. at the last most people introduced themselves by the real names, and some were initially shy of revealing their chat nicknames. there was no pressure to reveal your on line identity, but most people eventually felt relaxed enough to disclose it.

hth.

Fionn · 15/07/2002 09:02

We shouldn't have much trouble working out the identity of the pregnant American who uses her own name anyway !
Still need to hear from LKM, florenceuk, CAM, Scummymummy and clucks before I can book.

florenceuk · 15/07/2002 10:08

Sorry Fionn, I've been off on holiday! Yes I can still make it - see you there!

Fionn · 15/07/2002 19:03

Those of you who've been to Ma Goa - does it have a bar you can wait at before being seated? I don't mind getting there for 7.30 if I book a table for 8pm, then we could sit down when everyone's arrived. Just checked TO Guide - it says main courses £8.00 - £9.95, is that OK for everyone?
Also, how do we "know" each other? I've never been on any sort of "blind" thing before!

I suggest we all wear carnations behind our right ear, carry a copy of the Evening Standard under our left arm and adopt a really silly walk a la John Cleese.
Don't remember there being a bar there - it's not particularly massive - but could be wrong.
Re cost - I'm not exactly rolling in it at the moment but, as long as nobody expects to drink Krug, that's ok with me.

Sobernow - I suppose it won't be too difficult to spot 10 or so other women who are trying to do the same thing! Glad your meet-up went well.

SofiaAmes · 15/07/2002 22:39

per a few other threads, aren't we all supposed to be haggard looking with sagging tits, un-ironed clothes and baby drool stains....

SofiaAmes · 15/07/2002 22:41

anyway, you won't have any trouble spotting me, as I will be the one trying to figure out how to get my bump through the door. Does anyone need a ride. I live in harlesden (nw10) and am happy to pick up anyone vaguely on the way.

WideWebWitch · 15/07/2002 23:35

Sobernow, that's interesting and sweet - I wish I'd been there. I'll meet you all another time I hope. Isn't the camaraderie here great? (she says after a few glasses of wine)

CAM · 16/07/2002 10:51

I am still hoping to come but cannot confirm 100% yet.

Fionn · 16/07/2002 12:57

CAM - I'll wait another day or two before booking in case I hear from LKM, clucks and Scummymummy, who are probably on holiday too. Don't worry if you won't know until next week, I'll book for the maximum possible number.

Willow2 · 16/07/2002 21:20

Just a thought, but is it worth checking to see they aren't going to force a set menu on us because of the "large" party? Am happy to pick up the phone Fionn - not trying to get you to do all the work.

Fionn · 16/07/2002 21:53

Good point Willow2. I'll ring them tomorrow. There'll be between 10 and 14 of us I think.

OP posts:
LKM · 17/07/2002 16:39

Sorry Fionn I have been away. Will definitely try and make it but my brother-in-law may be in town (from NZ!) unexpectedly which may make babysitting arrangements tricky... Count me in for the moment though please - dh and b-i-l might just have to stay in with a dvd!!!

LKM · 17/07/2002 16:41

Oh - and I might have missed this, but where exactly is Ma Goa? Can anyone provide directions? And is now 7.30pm? Thx!!!
