hello,
hope you all settled and don't have to do anymore shopping/arguing this weekend!
My shipment delivered monday/tuesday, so next week gonna be lot's of fun!!!! I dread it.

quokka · 07/07/2007 14:55

you still don't have your stuff slim?? Mine was really quick just a little over 3 weeks?

Dh surprised me today and said he wanted to go shopping. Can hardly believe it but bought bed and mattress (we have been sleeping on one bought for spare room). Even got coffee table, TV cabinet, and dresser drawers for our room! Got my brand new meile washing machine machine and dryer delivered today - yay clean clothes! Been surviving on terrible whirlpool washing machine that doesn't actually clean clothes - they come out as dirty as before !

Hope the blackouts are working egypt! Sorry about all the !! but haven't eaten anything and been drink sparkling rose. Just sent dh out to get sushi

quokka · 07/07/2007 14:55

drinking I mean

slim22 · 07/07/2007 15:14

oi oi, seems like we on the same wavelenght here!
Just had sushi, actually not sure was a good idea with all the red wine.................
Still arguing over petty things here, he watching tennis/me on mumsnet.
Hopefully, will be both drunk enough at bedtime so as not to remember we were arguing

Egypt · 08/07/2007 14:56

ahhh, great..we have had chicken rice and copious amounts of red/white AND rose wine, so not totaly coherent. have just done one blackout bind so far quokka, but looking good.

actually last nnight was a bottle of red wine too many, as when dd2 woke at 4 i was surprised to see her in bed with me as i couldnt remember putting her in there at the 12 oclock feed. worrying. and that was just 3 glasses of wine.......

dd1 will be knacked tomorrow as a late night tonight and last night (at east coast) and she has school tomorrow.

Must be catching - we're niggling while MNing/tennising as well!

Hi guys, sorry to crash thread, but just wondered if any of you know when the bugaboo bee is out in singapore, its not out in the Uk till December. Sounds like you are all having a ball out there

quokka · 09/07/2007 15:23

hi laksa what a bugaboo bee??? Its it yellow by any chance, have you spotted the buggy you want for bump and can't wait.

Are we still on for tomorrow at delta?

laksa · 09/07/2007 16:35

hi quokka, are you having fun out there? I see you've given in and are getting a maid I always have major problems getting my head around it when I go out to visit family. The maid always tries to take my plate from me and wash it when I am finished eating...which frequently ends up in a wrestling match. Of course I'm sure with practise I would get used to it

Yep, I have found a buggy that seems to match my spec: rearfacing, easily foldable in one and light. However it doesn't come out in the UK till dec In the promo pics it has a yellow hood but you can get it in plain black. Just wondered if anyone knew if Singapore was getting it first.

Hope you are settling in nicely.

xx

quokka · 10/07/2007 00:54

Will be in a department store tomorrow will ask for you if you like? To be honest I haven't seen many bugaboos here.

Its so much harder with kids here and internet shopping is not like the UK - very basic. So am finding getting things done and juggling 2 lo's quite difficult. Also am thinking of becoming a doula, so a maid it is.

Egypt · 10/07/2007 08:42

we passed a yellow hooded bugaboo in tanglin mall today quokka, or at least i did, you may have been in the shop. not sure if it is the new one tho

OP posts:
laksa · 10/07/2007 09:04

thanks quokka, I asked my family in singapore but they don't know what a bugaboo is I am off to go swimming now, I need to feel weightless for at least half an hour

Quokka, training to be a doula sounds great, how long does it take? I was thinking of doing a course in acupuncture but the course is 3 years long and about 4000 a year which is quite a lot

Hope you are all enjoying the warmth out there, summer seems to have left us in the Uk, on the plus side the garden is blooming with all the rain!

quokka · 10/07/2007 09:12

I asked in the baby shop today and they said they will be getting it, just couldn't give me date???? Yes I saw that bugaboo, which reminded me to ask them at the shop . Think I will have to go to robertsons to get some bedlinen so will ask the baby department for a date tomorrow morning.

Thanks for lunch egypt ds1 has been asking about your dd1 since we got in. Have been trying to do some research on the Freedomride, but not getting good reviews . But the question is, is it better than a seatbelt over his tum

oops . we really need a desk!

Egypt · 10/07/2007 12:33

lol quokka, at you balancing your keyboard on your knee.... could you get the seatbelt thing on either ds?!

OP posts:
laksa · 11/07/2007 09:46

thanks for that quokka, I hate making decisions over stuff like this at the moment, does pregnancy make you indecisive

Any alternative suggestions for a good buggy that travels well for newborn?? OH, I am thinking of giving up and slinging her everywhere for the first couple of months, is that doable?

xx

Egypt · 11/07/2007 14:05

we just bought a lightweight quinny zapp. we use it with the maxi cosi carseat all the time, not the pushchair yet, as she is just 3 months. its ideal really, really compact and light and just click the carseat on. nice and zippy in all the malls. crap for attaching buggyboard to if you were thinking of that. (sorry, dont know if you have older dc) too lightweight and flimsy but does work. no underframe basket though. pain if u are doing a lot of shopping. thing is the pushchair doesnt recline so when she gets too big for her carseat may just sell it and use the maclaren quest instead. when are u due?

OP posts:
quokka · 12/07/2007 02:33

Slinging it is a good idea for the first 3 months. I really liked the simple ring sling, but there are loads out there now! If I had to do it all again I just would have bought the maclaren techno again. Not too pricey, light, reclines flat, easy to push. I got the phil & teds when ds2 arrived and that was brill too. But have now gone back to my maclaren triumph for quick shopping trips and techno for longer days out. Didn't get a chance to ask yesterday at Robertsons, but no doubt my sis and I will be going shopping over the 2 days so will try and remember

Egypt I didn't actually buy that contraption! Have been using a simple little tykes backpck, which had a strap around the chest and over the arms. The seat belt easily goes through the back and I'm much happier with this rather than a seatbelt over his tum. I can leave the backpack on him as its quite slim so don't have to worry about taking it on and off.

Egypt · 12/07/2007 05:15

what a good idea quokka! you could go into business

feelnig rough today. bad stomach, needing frequent trips to the loo, which isnt great when you're in a waiting room at tmc with dd1 and 2.

OP posts:
Egypt · 12/07/2007 05:17

there's a great sling in tanglin mall, mother's work, level 3. its like mesh so the baby isnt anyway wrapped up warm. want to get one myself but that would mean i have 3. i have the ring sling one, but really cant get on with it. its hit or miss whether i get dd2 in it right. she starts screaming if i can't and i have to give up. a lot of material too

OP posts:
laksa · 12/07/2007 11:05

egypt, this is my first, can't you tell from the clueless mothertobe vibes

Will definitely get a ringsling as I was given a babybjorn which I don't like for newborns, wanted something she could recline in.

I liked the maclaren xt but got seduced with having something rear facing. The quinny seems really nifty with steering, didn't think about just using the carseat at the beginning

Quokka, you are making me jealous, I remember so many good times trawling the malls with my sis for bargains, everything always seemed so cheap in comparison to england

Hope you feel better soon, egypt.

Well, it is still raining in england, don't think summer is ever going to come...am quite happy as don't fancy swollen ankles just yet!

Egypt · 12/07/2007 11:52

OP posts:
laksa · 13/07/2007 12:30

I am not due a visit till jan/feb next year . Am working on dh to get a job transfer out there though... I quite fancy a little expat living for a couple of years

quokka · 27/07/2007 06:09

everyones gone quiet!

Laksa I keep on asking for you about the buggy but haven't managed to get a straight answer for the date -sorry

Well my mum has left with her boyfriend, even though it was nice to see her I wasn't expecting her boyfriend to stay and for so long! I think he was paying so ho hum! She did buy me some lovely plants for the balcony , or he did I'm not sure! But I was getting a bit fed up with all the remarks about her sex life - as if I wanted to know! Even harder when its not your dad I think.

My maid started the day before yesterday, and so far she has been great. She cooked us the most amazing red chicken curry last night. The kids seems to really like her and she has been giggling and laughing so fingers crossed she'll be happy here.

Should I start a thread for a girls night out in Singapore, whos interested? Maybe somewhere in clark quay or dempsey rd?
