Hi,
spotted a soft furnishing shop in great world city the other day. they make curtains. No idea about prices.
There is also one in jelita, on the first floor. They had a sale last week....but I have not tested any!

Rojak · 28/06/2007 13:35

Spotlight in Plaza Singapura (Orchard) is good for fabric and should have black out material.

Otherwise if you have a yellow pages, just have a trawl and ring around - loads of custom made blinds and you can sit in your house and get them to come to you and give you quotes!!!

My cleaner comes twice a week and will babysit (usually evenings) when DH and I want to get a night out. Kids are usually in bed but we tell them we are going out and they know who will be in the house and are fine with it.

Slim - a going to Malaysia and then Belfast.

slim22 · 28/06/2007 15:07

Egypt · 29/06/2007 02:32

quokka · 29/06/2007 04:42

slim just had my curtain guy around and he can do blackout blinds, will text you number.

Rojak I'm sure I saw a number you can call (yes in the yellow pages!) to get another one. Unfortuantely ds2 has ripped out a few pages.

Egypt · 29/06/2007 04:47

Ah you're all here!

So are you meeting regularly on TUesdays at 10? I can't make it this week as DS has a bad cold and has been grounded by the doc, but could do the following week.

Yellowpages: there's an online one you could try. www.yellowpages.com.sg. Or I culd lend you a sewing machine .

Rojak: Adoption is finally final (the Singapore bit that is, phew!). Have a good time in the UK (we've just got back) and see you when you're back.

Egypt · 30/06/2007 13:21

yeay join us. the kids had a great time. dh has suggested i could get blinds made in little india. is he right? thing is i cant really make myself curtains as we have nets and curtains already fixed onto a ceiling high old fashioned runner type thing with pull strings to open and close. what i could do is use velcro to stick some material to the top of the window but then they arent easy to open/close. and there are 3 large windows in the room. there is SOOO Much light....your man might be the way to go quokka

hello girls,

Oldnewmummy, good to hear from you. How is you precious little boy???
Mine came down with cold too!
Would be nice to see you, next week maybe?
Congratulations on the adoption procedure.

Egypt, no barbie this weekend again. DS has big time runny nose and low grade fever don't want to take any chances with DD n.2

see you tuesday.

quokka · 30/06/2007 15:02

oh no my boys have been sneezing like crazy today, maybe they're getting it as well .

Had the maid come around today and I think we are going to get one, but will see some others before I make a final decision. Dh and I agreed I should take advantage of cheap labour and do something for myself, especially as hes working such long hours. I think he wants someone to make him curries and indo food . I had been thinking of doing a doula course in the uk so may look into that here? So egypt I'm going to quizz you on your birth experience here if thats ok??

Egypt · 01/07/2007 08:25

yes please do quokka.

dd has had a cold this week too. maybe she passed it to you guys. sorry!

hey slim, i told dd she would be going to a nursery in a big school with your ds in september. she replied with "but i want to go NOW". so that's good! i think perhaps we should get our letter to the school asking about their class asap. its the end of term in a couple of weeks' time and they may have already made arrangements.

quokka · 01/07/2007 14:35

oh I'm not worried where they pick these bugs up, just thought they might have had hayfever or something.

I have a feeling I'm having something delivered on Tues morn so might not be able to make delta? If so are you gouys free any other days next week?

Egypt · 01/07/2007 14:49

oldnewmummy · 05/07/2007 03:43

HI

THey've just shifted stuff around at work so I now have a class on Tuesday mornings, so won't be seeing you then for the foreseeable future.

Have fun though!

quokka · 05/07/2007 05:13

its been an endless week of deliveries for us. House still feels empty . Dh is so sick of going shopping think I will have to give him a break this weekend.

My sister is coming over in a couple of weeks, which is fab as I haven't seen her since ds2 was born!

Have another maid coming around today to meet dh as see the flat. I interviewed loads yesterday and this was the only one that made the boys laugh. Ds1 even woke up this morning and asked after her and was very excited when I said she was coming around.

quokka · 05/07/2007 05:17

meant to say anyone know of a good dance class for my ds1? He has been prancing and dancing like crazy and got very excited when I mentioned dance classes. By the way he wants to have some friends around (maybe when we are a bit more settled) for a party and I been been instructed to make a pink cake by him ????

Egypt · 05/07/2007 11:44

maid sounds great quokka. fulltime?

are you up for soft play tomorrow pm? will email you in case you dont see this thread. will email slim too. desperate to get OUT!

then again you may not be able to with the boys naps

OP posts:
quokka · 06/07/2007 02:01

did you get my text egypt? Curtains are being fitted at 1pm and table delivered between 3-6pm - arhhhh. I'm so sick of deliveries and having to be cooped up in this flat. DS2 is teething and biting at the moment so maybe not a good play mate to be around . Found a dance class for ds1 on Sat morns, so we can have some us time and dh can look after ds2. He is so excited, dh says he needs to do football as well!

Hope all is well with you all, hoping I can meet up soon

quokka · 06/07/2007 02:03

yes looking for fulltime maid . Figure it will save us money buying a dishwasher, and she will be able to go to the local markets instead of over priced supermarkets - which I hate!
