Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

Especially for shy mums in Derby...

I know there's an August Derby meet-up arranged, but how about a trip to Markeaton park for nomates and everyone who's volunteered to meet up with her (from the Relationships board)?

Sorry to hear about your dd Hula, hope she's recovering. Glad we have something to do today as the kids broke up yesterday and dd is whingeing already cos she's got nothing to do! See you later. Might be a bit chilly for paddling but will bring stuff anyway.

MadameButterfly · 22/07/2004 11:01

It has just been raining here and the for showers.

Can I suggest that we go to brewsters?

Easy · 22/07/2004 11:20

it's just started raining here AGAIN. only had about an hour's break sinca 8 a.m.

I favour Brewsters I think.

Hulababy · 22/07/2004 11:30

Sorry the day isn't going to plan ladies. We haven't had rain at all here in Sheffield yet - at least I know what to expect the weather to be like later! Hope you all have fun regardless.

MadameButterfly · 22/07/2004 11:35

Sorry to hear DD is no better yet hula.

Hope she is better soon, and we will see you at the party at bumpis in 2 weeks time.

MadameButterfly · 22/07/2004 18:10

Were you all too shy to turn up today?

I waited at the ticket booth for 15 minutes holding a sign that said Mumsnet. I had a couple of people ask me what mumsnet was but no one actually came forward to adnit they were there for the meet.

In the end Ronniebaby, Easy and myself went to brewsters as the weather was too tempremental.

discordia · 22/07/2004 18:18

I was not too shy, I was just late! DD's friend didn't get to our house until 1 pm so I was 1.30 pm before we got to the park! We looked around for you but you'd gone by then of course! Anyway, we bumped into some people that we know and tagged along with them! Sorry to miss you. Hope you enjoyed Brewsters.

Note to self: next time planning to attend mn meet up, get mobile numbers of others to keep in touch!!!

clary · 22/07/2004 18:48

Oh heck. I didn't go to the park at all, after what you had written here about the rain i just went straightto Brewsters (sorry, hadn't been out of office so didn't know it was raining until I looked at the thread 11am.) MB you are brave to hold up a board, what a good idea! Anyway, I scoured Brewsters, even asked a couple of people if they were meeting anyone! (they were all quite nice about it) and gave up. Did see two people I vaguely know plus some very good friends who I sat and had a nice chat to. Had to explan to them why I was there and the husband wanted to stand up and shout a request for mumsnetters to come over here....I stopped him I think I probably left as you arrived, or anyway gave up looking. Sorry about that. we'll do better next time

MadameButterfly · 22/07/2004 19:34

Hi clary,

We got to Brewsters about 2pm and let the kids ppaly for quite a while before ordering some food. The kids then played for a little while afterwards before going home.

Ronniebaby · 22/07/2004 20:12

Easy · 22/07/2004 20:43

Thanks both who did come, we had a lovely time. Esp enjoyed the tour of Derby I led you on .

Ronniebaby · 22/07/2004 21:16

Yeh Easy I've never seen Derby like I have today

discordia · 23/07/2004 10:57

A sight seeing tour of Derby? Lucky you! Half term is w/c 25 October and I could do Mon or Tue (unless I've got a job by then in which case who knows). Lovely day today, Markeaton Park anyone? (Only joking!)

Hulababy · 23/07/2004 14:30

I am away all of October half term - off to little cottage in france But I will see you at one after

Probably a good job we didn't come anyway - took much of a risk with DD's accident prone-ness right now. LOL. DD maaganed to injure herself again today. Been to A&E this morning. No broken bones though luckily!!!

citrane · 11/10/2004 19:41

hello,
is this thread still going? I'm a new mum to be in Derby, not my home town, so only really know people with grown up children. would love to meet mums to be, and or mums with babies/young children.

I'm due Feb 2005 and its my first .

Petesmum · 12/10/2004 12:38

Hi. I live in Burton on Trent and have been trying to find some local mum's to meet up with but to no avail However my DS and I are pretty mobile so could easily pop to Derby. I'm afraid I work full time so it'd need to be at a weekend if I am to bring my DS with me. Or if you'd prefer something a little less hectic, I could meet you one evening for without DS (well subject to DH agreeing!) Any good for you ?

clary · 12/10/2004 12:54

citrane and petesmum, nice to see this thread pop up again as it were.
I'm in Derby, mum of 3, usually lookign for somethign to do on a weekend, esp Saturday. Do you want to meet up?
Have just been reading and posting on mumtochloe's "nobopdy talked to me on a meet-up thread" so this is a good omen. PROMISE to talk to you both!
Post agian with some thoughts.

jampot · 13/10/2004 11:10

ladies?

Petesmum · 14/10/2004 12:49

Hello Clary & Citrane, would either of you be interested in meeting up one saturday or sunday this side of xmas? (not sure how hectic your diaries are hence big time scale!) If it helps I'm free on sat 30th Oct and every saturday in November at the moment.

I initially thought about taking the kids to a soft play centre but then remembered that Citrane is expecting & probably won't feel like crawling round in ball pits! So what about meeting up for lunch at somewhere child friendly? Brewsters?? Any other suggestions? As I'll be travelling by car I'm pretty flexible on location.

Are there any other Notts/Derby/Burton mum's interested in joining us?

See you both soon!

citrane · 17/10/2004 22:08

hello, having probs posting messages - brain has shrunk and keep forgetting password .

meet up before xmas is cool, I don't mind where and generally i'm quite flexible - no kids to organise (yet). I don't mind kiddie places - gives me an idea of what to expect!!!

just let me know when and where.

C

Ronniebaby · 17/10/2004 22:17

Hiya Ladies

We normally meet up in either Markeaton Park in the summer or at either Bumpi's or Brewsters.

We have mums from Chesterfield, Nottingham and Sheffield join us.

I am 7 months preg so wont really be doing anymore meet ups this year, but after xmas etc I'll be up for meet up, DS is at school now (altho he only 4) so make life tied to half term, but am interested in a sat or sun meet up.

In case you dont know where these are, here's a link or two.

Bumpi's

Brewsters

Hope you get to meet up, and maybe I'll get the chance next year

Hulababy · 18/10/2004 09:10

Hi all; I'm from Sheffield but have joined the Derby meets on a few occasions. I am struggling to do any meets before Christmas though as I am pretty busy now. I'm in a teacher so most half terms are good for me, but I struggle at weekends.

After Christmas I may be less busy

Ronniebaby · 19/10/2004 21:38

I can vouch for Hula, she's a nutter. Only kidding, she's lovely and her DD is sooo cute

Hulababy · 19/10/2004 21:41

And as for that RB.... Hope you are all well RB, and DS is still enjoying school, and that (not so) little bump is doing well.

fairydust · 19/10/2004 22:15

hello all i'm from Ripley in derbyhire and would love another meet up - bit like hula n RB it will probly be after xmas as we're busy with appointments for dd.

hope to meet you all soon
