Wow! We filled a thread!

Hope you all find this new one!

Our evening was great, had a lovely time. kids were all very well behaved. dd sleeping in our bedroom is a nightmare tho - she's sooo noisy!

we need a 3rd bedroom

we're off for Sunday lunch at The Botanist later YUM!

2cute, we're scheduled to have skids that weekend but not confirmed yet. if we do, not sure if i could come and don't want to invite 2 extra kids and dh as that'd be rather cheeky! if we don't then we'll be there

it's far too early for a Sunday!

OP posts:
trying2bgood · 15/02/2007 16:53

quokka - good luck to your dh as I know how hard it will be, thinking about how my own parents would react. Think singapore will be lovely though.

foxabout2pop · 15/02/2007 19:35

LOL at fat nanny thread

I did get a presentation at work today (thought boss had forgotten...) a bottle of champagne and chocolates (oh they know me so well...) plus a huge bucket of flowers

Will go home and place them next to the modest bunch DH bought me last night

suejonez · 15/02/2007 19:37

how nice foxie - yes the fat nanny thread has had me in stitches! It not that I have a problem with her feeling the nanny may be too unfit to keep up with an atcive todlder but it has certainly brought out the predjudice in quite a few people.

I particularly liked the "fat people can't get on the floor obviously" line

2Cute · 15/02/2007 19:54

what did you do paddle? (only kidding)

Uwila/Nanou - where are you both hiding? Hope u're ok.

Well, I had my back examined and turns out my slipped disc is pressing on a nerve so I also have sciatica! I can't even take any anti inflamatories just in case I'm pg. Foxi - I now know how hard it is to go through pain without drugs..how're you doing it m'luv? It's bl**dy hard!
I just hope I'm better in time for DS's birthday.

Updated list:

sfx + DD
foxi (on the verge of going into labour) + DS, DD
paddle + DD (+ steps?)
BigD + DD, DS (possibly)
Sue + DS

2Cute · 15/02/2007 19:58

Chuck a few choccies over here then foxi Glad you had a nice last day...bet it was your mini skirt that did the trick

Right - must go find this nanny thread!

foxabout2pop · 15/02/2007 20:04

Sue - I hadn't actually read the thread - it just sounded very bizarre - will have a look later (while I'm eating my chocolates )

ComeOVeneer · 15/02/2007 20:07

2Cute, sounds painful . My e-mail is lklinger at hotmail dot co dot uk.

xoxo · 15/02/2007 20:19

so Foxy, are you now officially a 'lady of leisure?'

and, emm, my profuse apologies to those kind enough to accept my invitation to play on Monday. I seem to have missed an arrangement to go to chinatown with our friends and their family on sunday (BIG, big chinese family lots and lots of kids), which - apparently - we have agreed to stay over. That's the royal 'we' of course in that I was not party to the discussion, or any subsequent arrangements but find myself committed to. I'm really sorry, but I'm off every Monday (normally), so can we postpone rather than cancel?

off to strangle dh. then remember how nice he was last week and decide he'll do for another little while

whose back is throw out (2cute?)? loads of sympathy - it's so so sore. although kind of relieved for you that it happened before st valentine's day otherwise the rumours would be flying now that might get a rise from the inlaws!!

sfxmum · 15/02/2007 20:22

so 2cute does that mean you are ttc?

2Cute · 15/02/2007 20:43

xoxo!

sfx - we are indeed I only wanted DS and subsequent baby to have 2 years age gap but seeing as he'll be 3 next month I'm kinda behind schedule!

trying2bgood · 15/02/2007 21:02

ok, this has nothing to do with the current discussions but has anyone gone to portaventura in spain before? We have decided to try and get away at easter with our two dds and are thinking of going to this part of spain. Anyone know anything that can help me make a decision! I am so indecisive!

sfxmum · 15/02/2007 21:42

tt2g sorry can't help

2cute that was my idea too but sadly getting behind at best it will be 2.5 gap

oxo

sfxmum · 15/02/2007 21:44

and forgot to ask puds how LO is getting on, hope he is feeling better.

suejonez · 15/02/2007 22:10

OK so now that Oxo has blown us all out, how about a trip to Kew or somewhere on Monday?

trying2bgood · 15/02/2007 22:34

sfx - tah anyway, have booked it now so lets hope it's great! Just watched this weeks battlestar galactica - love it but have absolutely no idea where it is headed!

sfxmum · 15/02/2007 22:39

sue trip to kew always on the agenda have boggie tots at mothercare first then free

tt2bg forgot you are one of the sci fi tribe love it but missed half the ep will catch up next sat. i like Spain away from the coast not a beach person myself

suejonez · 15/02/2007 22:41

what the hell is boggie tots?

suejonez · 15/02/2007 22:42

I am so uneducated in the mysterious things associated with motherhood.

sfxmum · 15/02/2007 22:51

as far as i can tell it is me putting up with a skinny annoying woman playing awful pop songs and nursery rhymes all the while being patronizing to most grown ups, dd likes it and it is expensive too, but again dd likes it

next term she can go to tumble tots i have kept away so far because apparently they have a 'club t shirt' and that scare me somewhat.

there is also monkey music and swimming something or other, i think this is why people employ nannies childminders and nurseries, it saves on most of the humilation

foxabout2pop · 16/02/2007 06:17

T2BG - glad you've booked your hols - haven't been there in particular but I firmly belive all hols are good of you (apart from Disneyland, but that's another story)

Oxo - I finished last night and feel strangley sad and empty. I really like my team and my boss and feel they're all carrying on the fun without me. Mind you we have an audit commission inspection in March, so I'm well out of that one! Which days are you not at work (Mondays....)? I haven't seen you for ages and it would be great to meet up, maybe Monday 26th or something?

SAHM's I can now do daytime meets ! Trouble is I cannot walk due to spd so Kew is probably not on my agenda for now. If anyone fancies a visit to North Sheen Rec and a cuppa anytime, give me a buzz as its about 2 mins from home for us.

sfx/sue - I used to hate all those Tots things - it wasn't so much the annoyingly cheerful teachers; it was all those smug middle class yummy mummies - think I am a bit of an inverted snob

MrsRecycle · 16/02/2007 09:02

Gosh - so much to catch up on in one day lol.

2Cute - sorry to hear about your accident - my friend did the same when her dd was 6 months and broke her back. She's fine now and even managed to give birth naturally after it. Finger's crossed for the pg.

Quokka - I've been chatting to my friend about going to 'pore with her one day so now I'll have even more of an excuse. She is a local so knows all the best/cheap places. She has some amazing jewellery that she gets made up there for half the price of stuff here.

Foxie - I know what you mean about the sadness of leaving a team. I tried not to cry when I left but didn't manage it. I do miss them but am so so glad I'm at home with ds.

CoV - I also have leather sofas and find that hairspray removes any biro from them. I used to have fabric sofas and spent every day washing them to get the sick marks out. Never again.

dh is off to France for over a week next Wednesday so I'm going to do Controlled Crying on ds to try and make him sleep through. Trouble is it's such a long time ago since I did it with dd1 (8 years ago) I've forgotten what to do. Sue/Quokka - do you have any hints? I remember rubbing their back and not picking them up but I can't remember the timing thing. How long to I leave him to cry (bad mother alert!!)?

pudding77 · 16/02/2007 09:19

Morning all, how is everyone?

Ds had another bad night with coughing and then crying because he'd filled his nappy and it was very very sore! It looked like a baboons bum! On the plus side, he did sleep to 8am this morning!

MrsR - I haven't done cc myself but I think it's you leave them for 5 mins, then 10, then 15 and so on. But not entirely certain!

MrsBigD · 16/02/2007 09:36

Pudding I feel for you. Cold and sore red bum is a nightmare to settle them with. DS as per usual decided to climb into our bed in the middle of the night. Usually nt too much of a problem however this time he's decided to thrash around a lot... oh and thats on top of the usual 0500 babbling session that drives us insane. DH thinks it's getting out of hand but I think... hey wait a sec we've just moved house so what do you expect? a well settled toddler?

quokka · 16/02/2007 09:45

mrsr, all I have done is leave them for 10min, if they haven't settled I go in and pat thir backs, but don't talk or give eye contact then put the lullaby light on and go out again. Never had a problem with this technique but I think there are other factors in cc. I do use a dummy for ds2 but he doesn't wake up when he's lost it, he only uses it so get off to sleep at the beginning. I'm sure thats because I have done cc and he can get himself back off to sleep. Ds2 had reflux (obviously not as bad as your ds) and he is always more comfortable on his front or side since he was born. Hope that helps .

sfxmum · 16/02/2007 10:50

morning all

puds sorry about that night it is quite hard

foxie that is a familiar feeling, i remember feeling quite lost for about 3 weeks after i left work on mat leave.

did not quite manage to go out yesterday but today really must have a little bit of cabin fever

hope everyone ok today
