A new thread for the new year

OP posts:
quokka · 06/01/2007 13:13

just checked out cpc and you can't bring your own food for parties .

Paddlechick666 · 06/01/2007 13:23

ah yes, honey. she's past 1 now so that's another overnight miracle change that means she can eat it!

i'll try that next.

bummer about CPC, suppose they've got to make their money somewhere.....

what about a church hall or something and we'll all bring a bootfull of toys and sangas.

quokka · 06/01/2007 13:31

God I'm an idiot! I have the sports club behind me, so that could be an option. Just thought cpc would be good as lots of toys and activites.

foxabout2pop · 06/01/2007 14:44

Paddle - just seen this again: yes that time is fine - we're here anyway, sheltering from the rain

DS used to lurve greek yogurt I seem to remember. Must buy some again to see whether DD likes it. I'm not suppos4ed to eat honey...

Good luck venue hunting Quokka...and welcome to the slightly nightmarish world of organising chidren's parties! LOL

foxabout2pop · 06/01/2007 18:31

Paddle - hope you got back OK. Enjoyed our cuppa this arvo Xmas Smile

Ice Age is about to start.....

foxabout2pop · 06/01/2007 18:32

of course - not [fsmile anymore]!

foxabout2pop · 06/01/2007 19:22

Me again. Paddle was it foxyfox's thread you were talking about earlier?

MrsBigD · 06/01/2007 20:44

quokka 21st sounds like a great idea. Think that's after the night out

SFXmum yes still keen on Monday. I think the middle session would be best for me

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 06/01/2007 20:48

not sure foxie, have done a quick search but only on active convos.

well, dd is down for the 2nd time but for how long.

she's coughing herself awake, poor little girl. teething and coughing.

she had calpol around 5ish so i'm thinking medised if she wakes up again.

suppose medised is okay with a cough, don't want her becoming too drowsy that her breathing slows too much........

trying2bgood · 06/01/2007 23:30

quokka - me and my girls would love to come! I think the gunnersbury triangle place has a hall you can hire although you would have to take your own toys and activities. Let me know the details when you have sorted it all out. If you decide to go with the sports place, am happy to come early to help set up etc seeing as I am only up the road!

trying2bgood · 06/01/2007 23:32

fox - definitely is nightmarish, this year my dd1 is having her b-day at virgin active as last year about 16 three year olds totally trashed my house - no kidding! it took 3 of us about 4 hours to clean up!

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 08:47

Tell me about it!!! When they get to school it gets really political as well - who to invite who not to invite LOL - or rather arrgghh

quokka · 07/01/2007 09:26

Thats really sweet t2bgood! I think I will just have it at cpc, and hope they will be relaxed about the numbers coming. Also Steve is away on business for a week and flies back in on Sun (Billy's b'day). So the less I have to organise and cook the better . You must pop around soon, when does dd start tennis again?

trying2bgood · 07/01/2007 09:55

I think she starts this week, not totally sure as it has been so long, have more or less forgotten what the coach said!
Would love to pop around soon.

sfxmum · 07/01/2007 11:13

hello

mrsD - that sounds ok will check again tomorrow, then after class maybe lunch at my place? that will give me some incentive to tidy up

about birthday parties i was planning on being mean mummy and only doing a party after she goes to school, otherwise keep it quiet within the family, but i am mean

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 11:33

SFX you're right - DS always had big parties since he was 1, but I have learnt my lesson now (budget wise) and DS is now only allowed 18 boys maximum. DD has had two parties, but very small parties, with just a managable handful of tots.

TBH they don't care whether they have 5 friends or 40 - as long as they get presents and a cake

T2BG - DS does tennis too; he loves it. His is now closed until February now though (which is great as far as I'm concerned...). How old if your DD again?

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 11:33

Paddle, how is DD today?

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 11:33

Paddle, how is DD today?

quokka · 07/01/2007 11:49

Ok just booked the childs play cafe for the 21st, so let me know if you can make it .

I had a big party for ds1 when he was 1, so feel like I have to do the same for ds2! If the weather was warmer I would have it at home but can't really expect people to hang out in the back yard!

foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 11:58

Quokka - we're a YES and many thanks for inviting us

quokka · 07/01/2007 12:04

cool foxy, it will be starting at 3pm. So anybody going to the meet up the night before wont stink too much of alcohol!

Paddlechick666 · 07/01/2007 13:05

afternoon all

deffo count us in for 21st Quokka - if you need anything doing in advance give me a shout.

thanks for bottom advice this morning - dd's not mine!

she's still pretty squitty and VERY sore but teething granules and sudocreme are doing their thing.

greek yogurt and honey - big hit!

foxie, thanks for asking, she's okay in herself but as above her bottom is sore poor thing.

she woke up at 10:30pm screaming and needed a swift change - first time in a long time i've had to change her after bed.

i took her into bed with me then for the rest of the night and we both slept well till 6am. it was so nice having her in with me all night as she was very cuddly and not at all restless.

well, a rainy afternoon stretches before me! think i will brave a walk along the river - need to get out!

MrsBigD · 07/01/2007 17:15

SFX count me in

Quokka... ditto I shall be bringing both lo's (cheekily assuming that's ok ). DD can help with the little ones as she lurves babies and ds can wreak havoc

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 07/01/2007 21:00

Quokka - can I bring both LO's too? DS can help MrsD's DD in supervising the kids

Let me know if you want us to turn up early to help put stuff out etc.

Paddle, have you tried leaving her nappy off for a couple of hours when you're in the house? The air really helps the skin to heal.

Paddlechick666 · 07/01/2007 21:58

Quokka, I'll be bringing dd and her 2 dollies and possibly a bear and a monkey but they're easier to deal with!

btw, she said she'll come if the tellie-tubbies are there..........

foxie, yes thanks for the tip. she generally has about 15 mins nappy free each night but extended to 45 mins tonight. luckily no carpet accidents.

poor lamb squeals when she does a wee. i've never seen it so bad on her. she's snoozing peacefully now tho so finger's x'd.
