A new thread for the new year

dd must be coming down with something because my attempt to get her away from laying on the couch and watching tv has terribly failed despite the offer of making a mess with finger paints!

I'm such a bad parent... TV's been going since 0600!

DS is in extreme huggy mode and as soon as I dare sit down anywhere he comes to assault me with big hugs and snuggles up to me, which of course then results in jealousy fit from dd who then also wants to sit on my lap. I'm trying to tell them that I've got 2 legs and 2 arms so each of them can have a cuddle at the same time but that doesn't work at all

MrsD - I met Bruin at Paddles yesterday...DD loved him but I found him a bit scary LOL!

Not sure if we'll make Kew either later but will text Paddle after lunch to see where she is.

Hope all the LOs don't get sick.

Anyone around Thurs or Friday?

sfxmum · 03/01/2007 09:46

hello everyone

we have been struggling with unusual sleep patterns due to new teeth coming through and, i think the holiday disruptions.

i am busy today, will probably just take dd to the swings, weather permitting, and i have a fair bit of shopping to do. but we are up for a meet up or two in the coming days, hope you all well.

xoxo · 03/01/2007 09:47

I don't think I'll be able to meet up today as have a few bits and pieces to do. I am around tomorrow though and possibly Fri pm.

sfxmum · 03/01/2007 16:57

nanou that is very kind, paddle did text me about it the other day. i have the same prejudice about pinkand dd got loads of clothes for christmas so don't let me be a priority for now but many thanks

hoxo / mrsD i guess this is talk for another thread but i often think how you both are doing with your change in circumstances. it took me ages to get used to this sahm business actually not quite there i think.

strange day today busy but with cranky dd refusing to nap, must get tough and get up really early tomorrow to normalise these nap times, only that is pretty hard when we have both been up half the night

waiting to see if i manage some meet up this week

harktheheraldfoxessing · 03/01/2007 17:13

Is anyone interested in meeting the government's maternity leave Czar on Tuesday 9 Jan about 12 noon?

A friend has arranged a meeting for an article and is fishing for some Mum's who have views/issues re. maternity leave to meet with this Czar person.

xoxo · 03/01/2007 17:34

foxy: I wd LOVE to - do you think Czar will come to teh beach in Lanzarote to do it?

sfx: I have been sahm for 4 and half years - since I told work I was pg actually so am quite used to it. It DOES take a while to settle in with teh kid/s though - and it si hard work. My one tip is routine. and make sure it is a routine that includes one trip outdoors at least once every two days. YOu'll learn to love it when you build up teh classes and trips: baby massage, baby gym, baby music and art.....

MrsBigD · 03/01/2007 17:43

well I still haven't gotten used to the change in circumstances, life saver so far... playdates

School's back tomorrow... woohayyyyy!

evening ladies-

happy new year to all! a bit of a rough night as the little guy is fighting an icky cold and was super stuffed up. poor husband ended up standing over him all night with an aspirator.

xoxo · 03/01/2007 18:20

Oh poor wee mite. Good luck - it's really scarey when they are so young.

Paddlechick666 · 03/01/2007 18:23

just a quickie before bathtime.

foxie, i'd deffo like to meet them. i have some VERY serious questions about mat leave and entitlements as i think work stiffed me.

oremstango, poor you guys. it's tough going when they're so little and so ill. actually, it's tough going when they're ill full stop.

well, it's back to work for me tomorrow ;-( altho i am sure the rest will be welcome LOL.

and Oxo, you can jest shet yore mouf about that holiday! i am very

xoxo · 03/01/2007 18:25

PC: last one for a LONG time: I'll be a working mum so so will have to obey rules of holiday leave
Isn't it madness that when you get a job and therefore can actually afford a holiday taht you don't have the time off to take it !

also bathtime here.....

Paddlechick666 · 03/01/2007 18:29

well, Oxo, I'd tell you to make sure you enjoy yourself but that's a redundant statement coz I know you'll have a blast.

it is one of life's more annoying conundrums! oooh I've swallowed a dictionary - that must be why i still have tummy ache!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 04/01/2007 08:58

Oxo - I'm sure the Czar would join you if she could!!!

Paddle - will text you my mate Carol's mobile number and will text her your number too. The article is for Prima Baby and I think the meeting with Czar will be in Victoria or thereabouts.

Oremstango - sorry to hear about your little lad being poorly. Hope he feels better today, poor wee mite. DD loved him when she met him last week

MrsBigD · 04/01/2007 12:57

Anybody wants to meet up tomorrow? DD will be in school till 15:30 but I have ds

OP posts:
harktheheraldfoxessing · 04/01/2007 18:13

MrsD, I might be around, she says vaguely.

I have some stuff to do at home so depends on how I get on with that - sorting baby clothes, getting fungussy double buggy out of shed, etc etc

sfxmum · 04/01/2007 19:43

MrsBigD · 05/01/2007 09:27
