That Waxy's looks pretty good and the menu is reasonable (food is probably crap but hey, that's not the main thing!)

whimsy · 22/11/2006 12:12

What about hereThe Old Library

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2006 12:12

Is Waxy's noisy though?

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2006 12:14

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2006 12:16

whimsy · 22/11/2006 12:18

At Waxey's though you could book one of the rooms/areas.

JanH · 22/11/2006 12:20

The Old Library is part of the custard factory. It's a sign

whimsy · 22/11/2006 12:29

Last time I went here a quiet jazz band were playing in the background and no one under 25

MaltHouse If it's good enough for Bill Clinton then It's good enough for us

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2006 12:30

That what I was thinking.

OK so let's say I phoned Waxy's for the low down. Then if it would be sort of okay we say
JUNE 15 Birmingham at Waxy's??

Then in the spring we book the room according to the number of interested parties.

Whimsy what do you think, we need your input?

whimsy · 22/11/2006 12:33

Sound's good to me

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2006 12:54

Okay I have spoken to a chap at Waxy's. This pub is going to be refurbished between now and next June.

We could use the sofa gallery for 60 people and depending on numbers combine with the Broad Street Bar for up to 120. The sofa gallery is the furthest area from the dance floor and therefore the quietest area of the pub. The pub will be quite lively at the weekend.

It is just off the ring road and very close to a Travel Lodge (according to Whimsy)

I thought we could book a room Feb/March time and organise a deposit. We will have a better idea how many are interested and if it's a likely goer.

ComeOVeneer · 22/11/2006 13:19

Just checked out the local travelodge (0.1miles from Waxy's). They are doing twin rooms for £26 so if you shared with someone it will be a bargain.
