I'll have to have a look for them next time I'm in Waterstones. I've always wanted a copy of the very first one I read but I can't remember the name of it. It's about a guy who's worlds keep changing and then judgement day arrives - anyone help me with the title? It isn't Job is it? I always have to fit in a half-hour read before I go to bed but its nothing compared to how much I used to read pre-ds!

Paddlechick666 · 15/11/2006 13:14

Yep it's Job that's another of my favourites!

I've got it if you want to borrow it Pud, altho you must promise to be very careful with it!

sfxmum · 15/11/2006 13:26

i have posted on your sleep thread PC so now you don't feel inadequate
with our sleep 'issues' no doubt i will have an earful from mil at christmas

pud - not much time for reading here either i did go through a few while bf in the early days

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/11/2006 13:28

Exterminate!

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 15/11/2006 13:33

I was a big fan of Asimov in my teens. I have never read Heinlen.

I tried the Westminster libraries and they didn't have any.

I'll have to try get hold of the fav list another way.

MrsBojangles · 15/11/2006 13:40

oh yes Job is great too LOL but what WAS he thinking when he wrote starship troopers? though I do like the movie adaptation

PC666 also posted on your sleep thread so now you know you're not inadequate

Paddlechick666 · 15/11/2006 13:44

starship troopers does my head in it's true!

thanks for the solidarity on the sleep thread!

at least once she's off she tends to stay off until the wee hours when i take her in with me!

i will try again on the 6pm bath thing tonight and see how we go.

the songs etc are really only on during the bathtime and stories are a bit hit and miss coz she's only 1! i tend to read while she wanders the room chuntering!

maybe will drop all that and go straight to lights out feeding immediately after bath.........

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/11/2006 16:34

I can honestly say that I have no clue what you are talking about Is it in english? or should we say nano nano schatzbat (Mork & Mindy). Sorry, but that's the only scifi words I know

although while pregnant and when kids born (and no outdoor pursuits etc), I did get engrossed in Buffy and Angel. But then Angel is a bit buff!!

Also - Foxy , did you mention Catherine Tate? She lives in Barnes and opened the Barnes local fair a couple of months back.

But - guess what - I've got a JOB today!!! Part-time (21.75 hrs), local council, 10 mins walk from home, right beside dd nursery and 5 mins from ds school. am happy, happy, happy.
What is it called when you worry about things going right too much? I'm just waiting on the big hole opening up.....

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 15/11/2006 16:58

Congrats, oxo. Well done!

pudding77 · 15/11/2006 17:05

Well done hoxo - that sounds great

I've just recently started watching Angel again as its being repeated on the Sci-fi channel

And this is probably going to show how far behind the times I am but who's Catherine Tate?

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/11/2006 17:16

Popular comedienne on telly. I hate it personally - prob because it is too realistic
btw, I have most if not all of Buffy and Angel on video if you want to borrow them. Right now they are sitting under my bed so not being used. Unloved.

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 15/11/2006 17:22

Oxo,

Do you think you might have time for me to see the spare booster tomorrow?

I could meet you somewhere or your place if you like. My dh is working from home so he could drive me there.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/11/2006 17:37

OXO - well done - that's fantastic!!!! See, what you wanted was just sitting there waiting to be grabbed!!!

Pids - C Tate's character is a parody of a CHAV (Council Housed and Violent), which is why its so funny she lives in Barnes

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/11/2006 17:45

mellow: no probs. ds goes to school at 12.50 and dd not at nursery tomorrow. Had my bolier serviced today (nope, not a euphanism) so am all free for tmrw.
Either I can come to you or otherwise. UP to you

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/11/2006 17:46

Foxy: am doing Tigger-like jumps whilst sitting on sofa NOT good for the springs I imagine but yippeeeeeeee

sfxmum · 15/11/2006 18:35

congrats hoxo that is greatno point worrying about what might go wrong it probably will not

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 19:58

Congratulations oxo!

On the Buffy subject, we've got all of Buffy on DVD if anyone wants to borrow it. Wouldn't mind joining the queue to borrow Angel (the videos, that is. I make no comment on the other ) someday (some hypothetical day when I have time, sigh...)

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 20:09

On a shallow note, does any one have (a) Sky and (b) problems with Sky right now? I'm getting "There is a technical fault with this channel" on all channels and was wondering if there really is or if DS has just helpfully pulled something obscure-but-vital loose...

Paddlechick666 · 15/11/2006 20:13

try a re-boot lemonaid, i used to get it all the time and turned out it was birds on the ariel.

we have telewest now

HUGE CONGRATS HOXO! You star! Y'see things do work out for the best sometimes!

sfxmum · 15/11/2006 20:26

well i have the complete Whedon ouvre i will have you know, mostly on dvd should anyone like to borrow, always willing to spread the word.

my rubbish sky does that sometimes we just re boot. i miss telewest

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 20:56

Thanks, hard reboot (pulling out power cord ) worked!

Am very tempted by Angel DVDs, as it wouldn't involve reconnecting video player to television...

sfxmum · 15/11/2006 21:00

you are welcome to borrow them
off to catch up with Torchwood, missed it last sunday. i really really should be studying

sfxmum · 15/11/2006 21:02

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 21:03
