Here are one or two suggestions, depending on who wants to come...feel free to add your own!

The Old Manor in Potters Bar, lovely pub restaurant with great food, mixed, mainly English style.

Via Pensiare in Radlett. Lovely lovely Italian restaurant frequented by Madonna and Vinny Jones.

My local curry house - yum yum - The Viceroy in Bricket Wood.

Okay! Women and cocktails, never fails...

This place is called Hot Coles, it's in London Road. If you are in the centre of St Albans and turn into London Road, you pass a bar called Casa on your left and just after that, in a little alley between the buildings, you see the blackboard outside it and the steps leading down to it (it's in a basement)

It's five minutes walk from Wagamamas.

By the way, if you are driving the St Christopher's place car park is closest (Wagamamas is in St Christopher's Place) or you can park in the service road on St Peter St (the main road going through St A)

My day isn't yet carved in stone, but if it goes to plan I think I'll be coming straight there on the train from London without going home first.

Thanks for the offer though! I'll let you know if plans change.

I might cadge a lift home though (it's on your way) - but be warned I will probably drag you all into my house for more wine!

oh god, this sounds like it's all getting a bit wild. And there's me who thinks 11pm is a very late night and is plastered after two glasses of wine

melsy · 11/05/2004 16:22

Ill be driving so I will be a good girl for once hah ha, Im normaly slirping noodles pi**ed!!!

Sounds good this hot coles bar.

I normally park either just opposite that car park at the back or in the car park. You follow the high st till you get to ZIZI follow the road round (youll see the back of carlucios)and then its the 3rd turning on the right I think???

melsy · 11/05/2004 16:23

woooosey !!!

Janstar · 11/05/2004 16:23

I MUST learn to do links - then I could post a map instead of all these directions!

Basically, if you find the Tourist Information Centre in the Old Town Hall right in the middle of St Albans, you will find that Wagamamas and Casa are 1 - 2 minutes each side of it, and it stands on St Peter St for parking.

By the way I have just realised that Hot Coles is NOT in London Road, it's in Victoria Street. Sorry!

If you stand facing the Tourist Information Centre on St Peter St, Victoria St is the Road branching off to your left. You will see Casa three or four doors down. Walk past it and look into the gaps between the shop fronts and there you will see Hot Coles.

Go down the steps and inside and you will see Janstar slumped in a corner trying to focus her eyes with a Zombie planted in front of her. (that's a DRINK by the way, I am not bringing dh)!

PMSL janstar !!! dh

Janstar · 11/05/2004 16:29

For anyone too late to come to Hot Coles, Wagamamas is in St Christophers Place. Stand facing the Tourist Information Centre again, but this time turn right, walk along past wh smiths towards Laura Ashley. When you reach Laura Ashley you see a modern pedestrianised shopping area on your right. This is St Christopher's place and Wagamamas is out of sight round the corner at the bottom of it. Other side of Wagamamas comes out at the back of Zizzi's. Two mins from Tourist Information Centre.
