Here are one or two suggestions, depending on who wants to come...feel free to add your own!

The Old Manor in Potters Bar, lovely pub restaurant with great food, mixed, mainly English style.

Via Pensiare in Radlett. Lovely lovely Italian restaurant frequented by Madonna and Vinny Jones.

My local curry house - yum yum - The Viceroy in Bricket Wood.

meandthomas · 28/04/2004 20:16

tammybear · 28/04/2004 20:23

Aww, its ur birthday meandthomas? Happy birthday!

Janh · 28/04/2004 20:25

meandthomas, that is really kind of you! But in fact I was going to ask anybody who gets it to check out the Roundabout because I am now the listings editor, and do an excellent job if I do say so myself.

(It's a free magazine distributed in many primary schools every half-term - features, ads and roundabout (what's on))

meandthomas · 28/04/2004 21:12

Well my birthdays saturday. Thanks though

melsy · 29/04/2004 15:27

Happy birthday meandthomas .

Would like to join in , any night is fine except Friday. Just need some notice to make sure dh doesnt work late.

Wonder if Karen99 will join us ???

I havent a clue were any of those places are !!!!

Heres some more choices :

Wagammams(Japanese noodles and soups, currys, rice dishes, stir frys & dim sum), great fun place, not badly priced, in St Albans ???

The Oakmere (I think its that, theres a great park & beer garden outside!!) pub/restaurant in Potters bar. Fab apple crumble in there.

Outback on Southbury road in Enfield. Steaks and salads and lovely smoothies.

But the others sound good too.I think Janstar to choose as she is the one organising. If we want to go again then we can go to another choice.

meandthomas · 29/04/2004 16:17

ooh wagamamas sounds good! I dont mind though..
When is evryone around to go?
im really lookin forward to it

Janstar · 02/05/2004 09:57

Karen99, Thomcat, Alibubbles, bobsmum, supersonic, etc, etc...anyone else who'd like to join us and have your say about times and places?

OP posts:
karen99 · 03/05/2004 13:09

Yes please! Sorry I've been away for a few days, just got back last night and haven't had a chance to browse until now..

I'm in Harrow, so would prefer something between here-Watford-St.Albans as I know the area(ish). Haven't been over to Enfield way so would need BIG BIG directions. Any night other than Friday and possibly Monday, but would need a bit of notice to see if dh can babysit.

Looking at my very full diary (not!) I can't do the week of the 17th, but anything else should be fine!

Janstar · 03/05/2004 14:51

Grommit?

eddm · 03/05/2004 15:23

Late joining this but would love to come! Wagamama's in St Albans gets my vote, since I'm in Harpenden. What date are you thinking about?

Janstar · 03/05/2004 16:03

eddm, we'll talk about dates in the next day or two, I was just waiting for all the interested parties to have their say about the venue, and post about which day is best, or impossible for them.

OP posts:
eddm · 03/05/2004 16:31

Thanks Janstar, look forward to seeing you.

SecondhandRose · 03/05/2004 16:43

Would love to come, I am in Cheshunt but very mobile. Let me know when and where, St Albans, PB and Enfield all fine for me.

Please avoid Whitsun week.

Grommit · 03/05/2004 18:08

yes add me to the list (thanks Janstar)

karen99 · 03/05/2004 21:21

tammybear, I'm meeting in harrow tommorrow with another MNetter if you can make it down - thread is here

tammybear · 03/05/2004 23:06

ooo id love to meet up karen99 but i got college

maybe next time as harrows not too far from me

Janstar · 04/05/2004 17:26

There are lots of votes for St Albans, and that suits me very well, so shall we settle for that?

I've eaten millions of calories in St Albans and can recommend Vega (Italian), Freddies (French), Cafe Viccolo (Italian) Il Buon Amici (Italian, take out a mortgage), Cinta Cottage (Chinese), plus lots of other decent Italians.

Haven't tried Wagamama but lots of votes on here.

Great thing about St A is that I can get there by bus and any of you who want to booze can stay overnight at my place. And I know a little place where we can sup cocktails before dinner

Suggested dates: May 22, May 29, June 5.

Please post your final votes for dates and restaurants here

OP posts:
Kayleigh · 04/05/2004 18:58

I have such a busy social diary, but funnily enough I can make any of those dates. Maybe not 22nd if we are meeting up 21st with kids. Will have nothing to talk about

My preference would be sat 5th June, a nice night out to look forward to after the half term holiday.

melsy · 05/05/2004 11:12

Sat with husbands ?? I normally save weekends for DH time. Is there not a weekday evening we can do??

Janstar · 05/05/2004 11:35

It's like this melsy:

meandthomas can't do Fridays
Grommit can't do Tues, Weds or Thurs.
Karen can't do Fridays or Mondays
I can't do Mondays.
Melsy originally said any day but Friday.

Looks like a Saturday would be the best day. Would your dh mind just this once? Otherwise bring him and send him to the pub with my dh.

OP posts:
Grommit · 05/05/2004 11:39

I can do 22nd or 29th may but not 5th June. I would love to try Wagamamas but am open to anything really!!

tammybear · 05/05/2004 12:03

Is this the one for just the mums in the evening? Because I can do most evenings, but I'd particularly like to go out June 5th as ex will be down to spend time with dd, so Im sure I will need a drink and a laugh at the end of the day

sis · 05/05/2004 14:04

Hi all, I haven't been looking in this thread as the non-central London meet-ups tend to be on weekdays when I am working but I just realised that you are planning on a weekend meet up. If there is space, could I come along too as I live in north west London and would love to meet you all? Is it likely to be an evening meal?

Can I second Grommit's Suggestion of Wagamammas as I have never been! - possibly the only Londoner not to have been to Wagamammas

SecondhandRose · 05/05/2004 14:11

5th June fine by me and another vote for Wagga wotsit. Oh my God! A night out!
