Been here 7yrs now have 2 ds's 2yrs and 6months and am married to a pom so looks like I'm here for the long run! The closest I get to an aussie now is watching neighbours (I know its quite pathetic). Anyway if there are any others who fancy a catch up, I'm in west london?

Mellin, great to meet you today, sorry about all the drama. Still haven't found my purse but haven't really had a chance to look for it yet - must do that now!

2quokkasandapeartree · 20/12/2006 16:58

Billiant, just asked ds1 and he rolled his eyes and went to the highchair and there it was - in the seat! Was starting to have a real panic. Right I need a coffee

Mellin · 21/12/2006 12:56

Great to meet you Quokka and the ds's (sp?) And good news on finding the hide & seek wallet!

I am counting down to xmas now, we are having some oz friends over for xmas day (dh has grand plans to cook a goose!) and then parents arriving on boxing day.

KaybeeandZak · 21/12/2006 14:55

Only managing to bf a couple of times a day Quokka.
DS has started projectile vomiting after every feed - am starting to wonder if he has reflux...he is also very snuffly/wheezy, hiccuppy and unsettled, and is insisting on sleeping in the baby bjorn instead of in his moses basket!

2quokkasandapeartree · 21/12/2006 19:36

sounds like he may have picked up a lurgy, there are lots going around . Ds2 was a reflux baby, but it was never projectile and it never upset him. I don't think you need to worry if he's putting weight on. Is the bf getting any easier or not?

Mellin, a goose - wow! Is he a good cook? Bet you can't wait to see your folks! If you want to join in the West London Thread just click here

cori · 21/12/2006 22:46

Sorry I missed you guys yesterday.. It was DS' last day of school and they finished early, (only told me the day before). Also have a few last chrissy bits to do. Will defintely make it for the next one.
Goose sounds great for Christmas dinner, but cant justify for the four of us. We are having duck (yum)

2quokkasandapeartree · 22/12/2006 09:41

It was a good move Cori! Ds1 had nicked my purse and hidden it at home, so no money or passes for Kew . Then the line to see Santa was evil, never seen so many desperate mum's before. I was struggling with 2 lo's and everyone just pushed passed and I ended up on the floor! Then finally got to the front of the line and ds1 didn't want to get out of the buggy to see Santa!

Just one of those days, but did get to meet Mellin and her gorgeous dd !

KaybeeandZak · 22/12/2006 09:56

Sounds like you had an eventful day at Kew!! Your DS1 is getting quite mischevious!!

BF is getting better, but DS will only latch on to right boob! Cant get him to cooperate for left one Plus he still gets really upset during a feed and wont go back on.

Just spoke to doctor re projectile vomiting etc, he said it may be colic and he may have picked a cold...

cori · 22/12/2006 10:00

at your experience at Kew. Would have expected behaviour from Mums at Kew.
Not surprised at your DS reaction to santa though. We DS 1 to Harrods for his first visit with Santa, qued for ages, and then he cried at Santa. We didnt even buy the photos in the end. Small children and Santa dont really mix.

2quokkasandapeartree · 22/12/2006 10:02

Why don't you try and express a little bit from the boob he doesn't like? It will be easier for him to latch on as its wont be so hard, and he'll smell the milk? Heres a thought for you imagine projectile vomit but with food! AAAAAHHHHHHH!

I'm child minding today, I'll let you know what its like with 3 lo's! Maybe she can teach me some French, as its her first language

Mellin · 22/12/2006 13:55

Kaybee I can relate to your sleeping dilemma, dd has only in the past 3 weeks or so happily slept in her moses basket. Before that we were having to sneak her into it after falling asleep in other places
(pram/sling/car seat/feeding pillow).

Sorry to hear about the vomiting, sounds awful. dd has (praise the sweet bebe jesus) missed out on the vomiting. Best she has done is make breastmilk come out of her nose when she coughs

3 kids Quokka, you are game! How are you finding it entertaining a girl?

2quokkasandapeartree · 22/12/2006 19:05

lol about vomit coming through nose! Wait until you get your first vomit in public, totally unprepared.

Surprisingly, looking after 3 kids wasn't that difficult, and it all went well. She only had one moment when her mum came back, and she started to whinge. When I changed her nappy I was a bit confused (having dealt with only boys)! Ds1 then said at the top of his lungs "where's her penis!!??" Then had a 10 min conversation about the difference between boys and girls.

KaybeeandZak · 22/12/2006 20:45

hahaha thats so cute of your DS Quokka!

Glad to hear someone else has had sleeping problems Mellin!

My laptop is off to a friends to be updated and stuff so I won't be online again for a few days.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas

xx

kiwibella · 26/12/2006 11:38

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year.

Zak is now 4 weeks, I can't believe it!! I am sure he smiled at me today, I am the happiest mummy ever

Mellin · 28/12/2006 13:49

Kaybee we are exactly a month ahead of you as dd was 8 weeks on Monday. She has reached a lovely stage where she is much more alert, smiling loads and making cooing noises. And sleeping much better! This magical transformation happened just as my parents arrived from Oz. Here I was telling them that she doesn't sleep very well, isn't very playful etc etc and she has turned in angel baby overnight! Hope it lasts!

2quokkasandapeartree · 29/12/2006 16:04

stop it you two, your making me clucky - again!

KaybeeandZak · 02/01/2007 09:32

ha ha ha thinkng about number 3 are you qoukka??

happy new year to everyone

KaybeeandZak · 02/01/2007 09:40

your dd sounds adorable mellin, typical of her to start behaving like an angel when your parents arrived!!

quokka · 02/01/2007 09:56

Dh is very keen to have another, but since I have my figure back, I would prefer to enjoy it a bit longer. Also I would like to have a nice summer, where I can have a few drinks, so he will have to wait!

Hows everything going Kaybee? We'll have to try and get together again soon. Maybe we can find somewhere in the middle? Will try and do some research, then you and Mellin can coo over each others babes .

Happy new year all,
Having a great time with my parents here. I am getting spoilt and Nina is getting so much attention. Mum practically whisks her out of my hsnds as soon as I finish feeding to play with her. And she changes all her nappies

quokka · 02/01/2007 19:38

How lucky are you Mellin!

OP posts:
kiwibella · 03/01/2007 12:50

yay for your beautiful babas!! It must be wonderful to have the support of your parents here, Mellin. Of course Zak smiled at you Kaybee... I'm pleased he is such a happy baby and you are enjoying being his mummy.

I went to Bromley to Pumpkin Patch. I have friends who live nearby but after the journey and wandering around the shops, I was exhausted and didn't call in (mostly too afraid of crashing at theirs and then having to fight with the traffic back through the Blackwall Tunnel)!! They are online tho - and all their sale stuff was in there when I looked.

Quokka... is there any good time to be pg??? Continually having to decline after one drink over Christmas and New Years was a right pita.

I've taken a stocktake of my baby bits so I have a question for you all... am I right in presuming that most gifts from home (for the baby) will be bigger sizes?? I really am confused about how much I have / need in each size.
