I'm bored so here's a new thread to organise our August meet-up

Uwila suggested
10 August or
24 August

I can do 24th

no issues with 'no male baby sitters' this end. Don't think dh would be happy to look after somebody elses sprogs anyhow LOL unless maybe if they're staying at ours and are kept occupied because torturing, erhem sorry, playing with our lo's

Though after having met hub2dee I probably would let him babysit. He's a 'darling'

Haven't met any of the other's 'other' halves yet. Uwila's dh seems a bit shy even at weekends. Though I'm sure he just wants to have a lie in when we meet at Kew!

quokka · 29/08/2006 13:23

Well my dh babysat for our friends kids once and when they came home he was fast asleep on the sofa with a very expensive empty bottle of wine (yes he helped himself) on the coffee table . Oh and the baby monitor was off and they lived in a big house!

MrsBigD · 29/08/2006 14:05

did they ever ask him again to babysit???

OP posts:
quokka · 29/08/2006 14:17

no, but i'm sure if they did they would hide the wine

Nanou1 · 29/08/2006 14:24

lol quokka! don't think i would ask my dh either to babysit... too busy to read all the posts. what's the score re thursday? still on? where?

Paddlechick666 · 29/08/2006 14:39

i think we'd be keen on joining a babysitting circle but not sure how often we'd actually go out - we're a bit skint LOL.

altho, 3 or 4 hours on a saturday morning would be absolutely fabulous for us. we canoe in chiswick and want to start training again but at the mo we'd have to alternate.

would deff like to meet up beforehand tho.

suejonez · 29/08/2006 14:49

A Saturday morning babysitting would be ideal for me as I'm single. Once I'm settled in properly of course.

Nanou email me on suejonez at aol dot com with a contact phone number (In case of emergency) and I'll email you my address. Perhaps you could supply the torilla chips and some sour cream?

So far:

Chili - mostly meat with a bit of veggie (SJ)
Garlic bread (SJ)

Jacket potatoes (mRS JC)
Salad (I can provide dressing) (Quokka)
guacamole (MrsBigD)
Sour Cream ?
Salsa (Uwila)
Veggies for dips (Uwila)
Tortilla chips
Cheese ?
Deserts (CD cheesecake, FatFox ice-cream and vlueberries)
Milk (MrsJC)
Beer everyone
Wine everyone

Nanou1 · 29/08/2006 14:54

hi SG - sounds great. will bring tortilla and sour cream. will email you shortly. pc666; we're broke too and the idea of a saturday sounds good to me too!!!!!

MrsBigD · 29/08/2006 14:54

PC666 welcome to the skint club

Ok we take yours saturday morning and you take ours in the arvo so we can go stuff ourselves with popcorn at the movies . That's after we've properly been introduced at SJ's though

Hi
sorry for delay in reply. dd feels 'sick' so is hamming it up all day today. Apparently the only cure is chocolate , a cure ds as doctor has prescribed. So cue stamping of feet en masse as bad mummy sticks with 'no'. Can I last any longer???? I'm bound to cave soon and they know it. They sense weakness. They smell fear.

I hope to come on Thursday: dh has Bored mtg that night so it all depends on what time he gets home (see how a babysitting circle would work?).
Totally agree with meeting lots beforehand if we are going to do the bs circle. My friend uses the 'points' system and says it really works but if anyone has alternatives (wine bottles?) then am happy to try anything. Saturday mornings etc are great too. Week day morning too - am sahm, although playing with idea of part time work (if local, cushy, paid loads etc). Have been sahm for 4 years. Concerned intellect is draining away through many orifaces.

Paddlechick666 · 29/08/2006 15:42

'tis a sorry state the skint club huh! must avoid places like Kingston tho as spent 30 quid this morning in the health food shop, julian graves and on some canning jars. going to make mango chutney for first time in years!

anyway, I digress, we'd be happy to swap a saturday morning for a saturday arvo for sure. maybe we should start a movie club too lol.

points mean prizes but booze is fine by me too.

altho i haven't been officially invited i'd love to come on Thursday to meet you all...........

but i'm afraid i don't think I could. we're having a trial run with Grandma all day that day in preparation for next week and i think i may miss dd far too much to go out in the evening too. never mind that she'd probably think i'd left the country if she didn't see me from breakfast to bedtime!

as for you Xoxoxo, you bad mummy! Your DS is obviously a child genius as EVERYONE knows chocolate is the ONLY cure for feeling sick.

;-))

fatfox · 29/08/2006 15:43

Xoxoxo - Go on, just give them the ice cream

Sue - I have now purchased the ice cream but have also aquired two cheesecakes as well (actually, I bought them for my sisters wedding party on Sunday, then managed to leave them in the fridge instead of taking them ). I was wondering whether DC wanted to just bring some blueberries and raspberries, but not sure who DC is? Also they have to be big fat ones from M&S or Waitrose . But am happy to get them as well anyway

Funny, but we always seem to be broke too

Nanou1 · 29/08/2006 15:44

poor xoxoxo! hhuummm, the idea of being able to go to the hairdresser on a sat am stress free cos one did not have to "negotiate" with dh who had "forgotten" about it and who is not able to change his plans...
Lets do it ladies!!!!!

CountessDracula · 29/08/2006 15:58

hi all I hope I will be feeling up to this on thursday still, I had a tooth removed this morning as it had cracked and was beyond saving and I have been in agony ever since the local wore off. The thought of talking or eating anything hot is rather horrific atm!

Hi Paddlechick, the reason you get flights sometimes and not others is due to Runway Alternation:

Runway alternation
The practice of runway alternation gives residents under the flightpath some relief during the day.

When planes are landing over central London (around 70 per cent of the time) they are routed to one of the two Heathrow runways.

In normal circumstances this means planes land on one runway for the first part of the day (from 7am to 3pm) and the other for the latter period from 3pm to 11.30pm.

This 3pm turnaround is managed by a weekly rota.

On week 1 planes land on the southern runway up to 3pm and the northern runway during the rest of the day.

On week 2 planes land on the northern runway up to 3pm and the southern runway during the rest of the day.

From 6am-7am when the airport is very busy there is no runway alternation.

When plans land from the east over Windsor there is no runway alternation.

(This means that when there is an easterly wind we get no planes at all hurrah)

Nanou1 · 29/08/2006 16:07

fatfox, do you mean cd instead of dc? countess dracula?
btw, hope you feel better soon Countess? hate tooth ache? would be nice to see you all on thursday. since my brain is only half working may i suggest we all wear a badge please?!

suejonez · 29/08/2006 17:47

CD - I was going to say stuff the toothache what about the cheesecake? But it looks like Fatfox have unwittingly come to the rescue! If she brings cheesecake and icecream then you can bring some fruit - if you're not feeling up to it, let me know and I'll buy some fruit on the way home on Thursday.

Uwila · 29/08/2006 17:48

Oh no. I see it now. CD is laying the groundwork to back out again. Damn. And I soooooo want to know what a real live pinko looks like. Damn damn damn.

Just kidding, CD. Hope you tooth is feeling better soon. So, is there more work planned? A bridge or an implant? Surely, they aren't just going to leave a hole in your mouth.

fatfox · 29/08/2006 17:48

I'll bring the ice cream and cheesecakes anyway.

fatfox · 29/08/2006 17:50

Countess - was it a molar or one of your fangs?

Sorry that was so cruel, I didn't mean it.

Hope you feel a lot better - are you on anti-biotics?

suejonez · 29/08/2006 17:51

Paddlechick666 - you don't need to invite yourself - its an open invite. We (MRsBigD if the truth is known) try to organise a monthly meet up in a local restaurant and for reasons that I'm a bit hazy on now, I decided we should have the next one at my house! I think it was because it will be the last one before junior arrives and wihtout a partner, there's only the neighbours to complain.

Uwila · 29/08/2006 17:56

Oh, our very own monofanged vampire. I love it.

Does this mean we only need half the garlic?

xoxoxo · 29/08/2006 18:58

Hi
can I suggest that on our badges we also put MN name and real name? I know a lot of you guys know each other already but us newbies will be completely lost! Also v. shy.....

(blushingly) xoxoxo

xoxoxo · 29/08/2006 19:12

oh, and also I am bringing mango salad a la Jamie, should cool down any spicy chilli.
again, caveat on dh's timely return.

MrsBigD · 29/08/2006 20:24

@ monofanged

SJ the hazy reasons for trying to organise a monthly meet is to get the h*ll away from kids and husband for a sanity check LOL

Xoxoxo

Now you've mentioned Mango salad, you have to come or we'll never forgive you!

Or if you can't get out, perhaps you could send the Mango salad in a taxi or something?
