oh really? poor you, what was it? It is soooo enervating isn't it? I have been flat out in bed asleep for 5 days each time

CountessDracula · 18/07/2006 13:03

Well they are hoping by putting me on prophelactic does of antibiotics that it will have a chance to heal properly

Though they have done dmsa scan and it has such reduced function that it would make little difference to whip it out

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:05

I had persistent UTI's from about 3 months to 7yrs old which caused permanent scarring, was on long term AB's to clear up or they were going to remove it. Luckily ab's worked and had few problems since. My other kidney is larger than normal as it compensated for the otehr which looks like the dog chewed it.

Sure sign of a kidney infection was that I spent most of the time asleep though being so young and not knowing any different I thought that was normal!

CountessDracula · 18/07/2006 13:06

Oddly I have had no cystitisy symptoms at all, just pain in my side (not excruciating, more a dull ache) and this total exhaustion. I have no idea where the scarring came from as I didn't have any probs when growing up.

Uwila · 18/07/2006 13:06

Oh, this is terrible CD. Does your other kidney function properly. I guess it must. Do they know what causes this? Is it hereditary?

CountessDracula · 18/07/2006 13:07

yy other one is fine and doing most of the work.

Apparantly LOADS of people have one kidney that doesn't work and don't know it

Loads also only have one kidney and don't know it either!

suejonez · 18/07/2006 13:15

my grandfather found he had one kidney in his 70's

BTW I never had cystitis like symptoms either only back pain. My scarring came from infection suspect yours does too, I had low grade infection for many months with minimal symptoms when I was 6/7 due to GP's incompetence (long story) thats when the scarring happened.

CountessDracula · 18/07/2006 14:43

Ahh that's very interesting

I thought I was a freak (well more of a freak than I actually am iykwim)

SO I must come to meet up to discuss kidney probs and Uwila's hand-outs then

suejonez · 18/07/2006 15:00

can we get hand-outs at the restaurant then?

Uwila · 18/07/2006 15:08

Not from me!

CountessDracula · 18/07/2006 15:53

pmsl!

Uwila · 18/07/2006 15:59

What did you book the table under MrsBigD?

MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 17:56

Shall start a kidney club? I've got a scared one from yonks ago. They found it during a scan... they asked me when I had had the last bad case of rising UTI... I went 'the last what?' I hadn't even know that my UT was inflamed not to mention my kidney... good that we have two eh? well most of us anyhow.

On a nicer note... Booked the table under Katja they got too confused when I said mumsnet or was it scared???

Yes I was still at my interview when you posted.

Went quite well I think, though I might have come across as THE organised control-freak PA who will make the department run smoothly no matter what...

Oh and they want someone to start on 10 August... I'm off 11 August for my 4 days alone in Munich, haven't told them yet though so might be an issue. But thought wait to see whether they offer it to me

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 18:01

oh and obviously I'm on for 27th

OP posts:
Uwila · 18/07/2006 18:04

Munich sounds nice. Can I come?

MrsBigD · 18/07/2006 18:05

of course you can , I'm either staying at my brother's on his sofa or at my mums's where I would have use of the flat as she's going travelling on 12th

OP posts:
Nanou1 · 19/07/2006 09:20

Hi girls! sorry but life is mad at the mo. yep yep yep - 27th IS still on for me. have not forgotten but at that rate might get colour blind soon . MrsBigD, what prompted you to look for another job? if they can't be flexi re your hols then they can't be the right company can they? after all, we are in the holiday season!!! hope you are all well. have a good day.

MrsBigD · 19/07/2006 13:09

what prompted me looking for a new job... bored stiff where I am doing if I'm lucky 2h of actual work for the 6h I'm here and boss being very vague whether he'll stay open past the next 3 months. Saying that 5 mins from home it's worth the suffering

OP posts:
Uwila · 19/07/2006 13:54

How about this one?

PA with German

Uwila · 19/07/2006 13:56

or this one

Nanou1 · 19/07/2006 14:47

oh dear... sorry to hear that MrsBigD. from personal experience.... cannot get used to public transport. try to find something as local as possible; after a while the novelty of being in a "proper job" wears off (this is if like me you are getting bored already!) and to be honest i would rather be bored closer to home!

MrsBigD · 19/07/2006 15:17

thanks Uwila, unfortunately those jobs are the core hours 9-5 but a flexible approach is essential type of jobs ;) Don't really want to slave my guts out iykwim

OP posts:
Nanou1 · 19/07/2006 15:49

Hey Mrs?! did you register with huntress in hammersmith? they are worth a look. i also found that officerecruit and monsterjob were worth a look too. good luck

MrsBigD · 19/07/2006 15:57

I need to work through some other issues first before I really start looking for a new job... uwila you know what I'm talking about don't you

OP posts:
Uwila · 19/07/2006 17:19

Eh? Is 9-5 slave hours? I thought that was just a normal work sschedule.
