What are you like?! Just try to pace yourselves...you wont get the full benefit of the Glasgow shopping experience with a hangover!! Wink

Enjoy your sleepover! And no talking after lights out!! Wink

.. sorry, didn't manage to make it into town on Saturday. Sammac - hope you and aero had a nice time and didn't spend too much money! Wink

Aimsmum · 29/03/2006 21:44

We had a fabby time - was totally pampered all weekend! Sammac and her dh and dc are top of my list of wonderful hosts! Had my makeover in Frasers which was lovely, a gorgeous lunch where you pair missed out on meeting us Sad ( will simply have to return and next time no excuses will be accepted)! Of course we shopped all day and I spent a few £££s.

Saturday night was a rare treat - let's just say sammac was in fine tune Grin! Had a cuppa on our return to begin slow recovery period following a few jars! Blush

Breakfast in bed was served by sammac's dc for Mother's day, and then it was suddenly time to pack up for home.

Thank you so much sammac for a lovely week-end - hope I wasn't too much trouble! Grin

Aimsmum · 30/03/2006 22:40

Lilliput · 10/04/2006 19:13

I'm in Moffat, so Edinburgh is just over an hour away. Easy-peasy!!

gscrym · 11/04/2006 11:21

How do I get there?

Am I better driving or taking the train? (Coming from near Falkirk, rubbish at town driving).

Final important question. How ill I know who you all are? I don't want to walk up to strangers asking 'are you from Mumsnet' while they wonder 'are you from (insert local psychiatric institution here)?

35Mum · 11/04/2006 12:14

Hi there, I am new here on the mumsnet and in Edinburgh. I dont have that many friends here, so when I saw your thread, I got a bit excited. Can I join your little trip to the museum on 22nd Apr Blush? DS is 4 and though we've been to the museum before, I'm sure he'd be delighted to meet other children there and make new friends with them.

Lilliput · 11/04/2006 16:07

Has a time been decided?

gscrym · 11/04/2006 17:27

I may now be nightshift but is we can do 1pm-ish, I should still be there. Might be minus DS as DH is working that weekend too. DS may have to go to granny.

prettybird · 12/04/2006 10:18

35Mum - of course you are welcome, the more the merrier. :)

Gscrym (and everyone): the helium balloon worked well last time, so maybe we should use that again. The all you need to do is accost a group of woemn sitting down with a heilum balloon (or two) plonked on their table! Grin I'll get one, as it's a treat for ds (it'll be Incrediblre or Winne the Pooh or something like that)- but if someone else based on the east coast (in case I have problems getting over from Glasgow), then we can put both on the table.

In terms of time, if we make it 12.30, so that it's not too busy and we can getthe pscae.

I don't know the museum at all, so I need to be guided by those that do. There are apparently two cafes - which one should we be going to? And can you book, or should we arrange for some of us to get there early to "bags" enough tables?

I don't even know how to get to the museum from the train station (I'll be coming by train from Glasgow) - so if anyone can give me directions, I'd be grateful!

Lilliput · 12/04/2006 20:00

To get to the museum from the train station- turn left out of the station, walk to the end of that road and then turn right and walk all the way up the hill, then left and follow the road round to the traffic lights/crossing. Cross the road and continue walking down George IV bridge. The museum is on Chambers Street which is on the left.
I hope that is reasonably clear, in true girly style am can be pretty hopeless when it comes to directions so if there is someone with more knowledge could they double check that!

Lilliput · 12/04/2006 20:07

Just looked on the national museum website and I would think the cafe called Soupson would be more suitable, it's even got a kids play area!

prettybird · 13/04/2006 17:48

Thansk for that Liliput. Soupcon it is then! :)

And hopefully I will find it from the station - your instructions seem quite clear.

KAZ09 · 16/04/2006 20:31

I am working that day, hope you all have a lovely time. I will listen out for the next meet up.
Can I just say, that the directions are spot on, although make sure you walk out of the MAIN entrance (where all the cars/taxis,etc are coming and going) as there are a few entrances/exits and you may get lost.....

KAZ09 · 16/04/2006 20:32

I am talking about Waverly Train Station btw

gomez · 18/04/2006 05:22

Hello, I am still on for Saturday, probably with both girls. Soupscon for 12.30.

See you there.
