Anyone else live in or near Exeter? Probably not the brightest question to ask at 3am, but maybe someone will reply during sensible hours

Fennel - found two: Big H Pet Superstore
2, Guinea St, Exeter, Devon EX1 1BS
Tel: 01392 425515 and Animal Magic Pet Superstore, 41-42, Sidwell St, Exeter, Devon EX4 6NS, Tel: 01392 205069 both pretty central. Don't know whether they actually sell pets, so maybe give a ring first!

Good luck on your urgent hamster mission! Smile

fennel · 21/03/2006 10:12

brilliant, ponygirl, thanks

we need a cage before the hamster anyway, the other way round might be problematic.

TearsBeforeBedtime · 21/03/2006 10:14

I was thinking weekday daytime, as would probably be easier for Essbee. Mind you can see this turning into 2 meet-ups anyway, given that me and JanH are down different weeks.

Baka - can you suggest something that's convenient for you, and we take it from there?

essbee · 26/03/2006 00:44

Oooh this thread has moved on!

Tears is staying with me 20-27 (tickets booked!) so a meet up around would be great! Any chance of Weds 26th as I will def be child free in the school day (unless they're ill that is!).

We will have to have another meet up when Janh comes down, we were thinking about an evening one then? esp since janh will be child free anyway and we both love wine!

fennel · 28/03/2006 10:41

wed 26th daytime is ok by me.

fennel · 02/04/2006 13:01

meet up being planned on other \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1368&threadid=158907&stamp=060402125820\devon meet up thread}

HelloMama · 19/04/2006 20:30

Bump this thread! I live in Exeter now too and its so good to see there are other MN'ers around and about! I can't make it to the Plymouth meet-up but would be happy meeting anywhere in the Exeter area if another meet-up happens in the future. I grew up in Exeter and left to go to uni and didn't come back until now. If anyone needs advice about areas / good schools / etc I would gladly help. My DS is now 21 months.

fennel · 19/04/2006 20:36

hello hellomama!

i am happy to meet up whenever really. don't know what to suggest but i know Ponygirl couldn't make the one next week either and was quite keen to meet up some other time.

HelloMama · 19/04/2006 20:39

Hi Fennel! Thanks for replying! How old are your children? Its funny having just moved back 'home' with a whole new persepctive on the place (child-focussed instead of bar / club focussed!). We have been trying to scout out all the child-friendly places to go and seem to live at the Riverside and various toddler groups, and singing in the library! :)

fennel · 19/04/2006 20:45

hi again hellomama

we have been here a month now and know a few child friendly places but no bars or clubs.

my dds are 6, 4 and nearly 2. we live near Riverside and go there sometimes, and i'm trying to work up some enthusiasm to join toddler groups but haven't quite got around to it yet.

HelloMama · 19/04/2006 20:52

Its hard moving house, starting new jobs, settling the little ones and being enthusiastic about joining lots of new groups and clubs etc. I know how you feel! We moved to Oxford from London and tried (but failed!) to make a new life there, before we conceded that we should move back home here to Exeter. We've been living here since March and i'm just starting to feel happier now.

fennel · 19/04/2006 21:33

yes, it can be tiring. are you in a new job here? are your family around?

we find people really friendly around here. but it takes a while to be in that nice position of knowing lots of people.

HelloMama · 20/04/2006 09:51

Yes I am working but kind of part time with lots of overtime. We do have family around, in fact we are living with my parents (!) at the moment while we try and sort our lives out! Its going ok but we are looking forward to having our own place again, I'm just not sure when that will be at the moment. I don't have many friends though as most of the people I knew have also moved away, so it is like starting again.

fennel · 27/04/2006 12:00

see other thread Essbee started for an \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1368&threadid=167542&stamp=060425204012\evening meet up in Exeter next week}

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 14:51

Anyone want to meet up?

fennel · 20/06/2006 14:59

i like meeting up Smile

ponygirl · 20/06/2006 15:11

So do I. Smile

fennel · 20/06/2006 15:18

are we thinking daytime or evening?

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 15:36

Not sure, how about a daytime to start?

ponygirl · 20/06/2006 17:17

Sounds good. How about morning/lunchtime? When's good for you SMK?

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 17:24

Could do Friday this week, poss Monday, Tuesday next but def this Friday. Do you have little ones to bring? Mine will all be in school, horraaayy, don't know Exeter very well so someone else will have to suggest a meeting place.

ponygirl · 20/06/2006 17:42

I have my MIL here for the weekend and not sure when she's going (either Monday or Tuesday). So may have to pass on this one if you want to go with one of those days. Can do next Friday (30th) though. Am child-free Friday morning too.

Shall we see what's good for Fennel, Essbee and any others?

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 17:44

Can't do next Friday, friend coming to stay, oh dear. Maybe you can catch up with the others for dates and I'll see what I can do. Never going to be easy was it!!!

ponygirl · 20/06/2006 17:59

I can do next Wednesday or Thursday am as well.

Somanykiddies · 20/06/2006 18:28

Oh no, this isn't going to work! Got to have a tooth out on Wednesday, maybe the week after? Anyone else interested?
