East Dulwich: want to meet up?

Oodle · 27/10/2003 12:31

Hi there
I live in East Dulwich with my partner and 16 month old son. The trouble is, most of my friends with babies/toddlers live in west London where we used to live. I'd love to make some friends locally, but I work four days a week (off on Friday) so have found it hard! I've been to a few music groups, but haven't been able to track down any playgroups in the area. Does anyone have any tips for playgroups, or do you fancy meeting for a coffee? I work for a publishing company and am down to earth and friendly - just need some mum mates nearby!

samACon · 26/11/2003 15:23

Saturday.

Blu · 26/11/2003 15:56

Rasta Santa will book up v quickly...I will post the booking details here later tonight, and suggest everyone makes their own booking? Morning of Sat 13th Dec? (I think it's 11 a.m, will confirm later).

motherinferior · 26/11/2003 16:15

Fab.

tigermoth · 26/11/2003 17:37

I'll look out for the details - hope we're free on the 13th.

bun · 26/11/2003 19:03

maybe Bun! I'll be at baby gym at Camberwell Leisure centre (the swimming pool) at 11am tomorrow with a small fat blonde boy!

aloha · 26/11/2003 23:49

Fancy coming?

bun · 27/11/2003 09:36

What are you doing posting messages at 11.49pm?! I'm tucked up in bed by that time (combination of squareness & small baby). I heard they had cockroaches at the gym.

aloha · 27/11/2003 09:40

I should have been, just been watching TV and emailed some copy to an editor (perils of working at home - no boundaries!) and had a 'quick look' at Mumsnet (typical addict's excuse). Then guess what, ds woke up hysterical after (I think) a bad dream. Aaargh!
They probably do have cockroaches in the gym but ds likes the tinygym and anyway, it's good for his immunity

Blu · 27/11/2003 10:41

We could make it Sunday if that suits people better? And I suggested a.m because sleeps seem to take up the after-lunch slot in many households!Could have lunch in Bandido's afterwards, which I saw someone was recommending?

Oodle · 27/11/2003 16:11

Hi, I'm back. I've been really busy at work and haven't managed to have even a sneaky peak on Mumsnet for weeks. I will try and come for a coffee tomorrow morning if I can. Rasta Santa sounds good so will try and arrange that too!

Bun / Aloha: they have bloody cockroaches in all gyms if they are attached to pools...it's the humidity and ducting which makes it inevitable. Another e.g of MN being a bad example: not only am I embroiled all day when I should be working, but have now been reminded of an excuse not to go to the gym....GRRRRR!

aloha · 27/11/2003 16:35

Blu, great. Either is good for me - maybe Sat am as it leaves the rest of the weekend? And lunch afterwards (or at least a coffee) would be lovely. it would be good to meet you properly Oodle - I was so late last time I feel I didn't.

tigermoth · 28/11/2003 12:54

13/14th is my last shopping weekend before christmas, but I haven't got a huge lot to do, so I will try and be free - don't mind either day am or pm, but can't do the weekend after. I'll keep checking here to see what you organise.
Batters - can you make Sunday 14th?

i can do any date (saddo!). Aloha - you're probably right about cockroaches and immunity , i'm just weedy. I haven't been to the gym for ages, because my younger one can't even crawl yet. Hopefully in the new year I can make it.

motherinferior · 28/11/2003 19:08

Oh dear. Christmas shopping. Again. The guilt. The guilt. Must do some...

bossykate · 28/11/2003 20:00

this sounds good - not yet sure about either date, will keep an eye on things here with the hope that i can opt in if possible

Blu · 02/12/2003 15:10

It sounds to me as if more people are available on Sunday...but there are a lot of people, so what about sun with a breakaway group on Sat for those who can't make Sun? And everyone attach some tinsel to their bag? (errr, alternative tasteful suggestions welcomed!). But if you want to go, BOOK! It sells out.

The 3-6 year-old show at the Young Vic should be good, and FEAST at the Chelsea Centre in the Kings Road.

SamACon: lovely to see you at the mini-meet last Fri, sorry I didn't say Bye, was prising DS out of a skeleton model...

motherinferior · 02/12/2003 15:14

11.30 on Sunday, then?

Cha · 07/12/2003 17:20

What's this, what's this?? Rasta Santa? Cool! I'm up for it, at the moment either day. Blu, have all the tickets gone?

bossykate · 07/12/2003 17:56

what day did you all decide in the end?

samACon · 08/12/2003 10:09

Blu, I can't remember the last time a mums type meet up didn't end up with kids running off in all directions! Usually mine, so I found it very civilised to sip (very nice) hot chocolate without having to have 75% of my attention on DSs! Speaking of which - I used to drink 6/7 cups of tea a day pre DD, but 5 weeks after she arrived I still can't face it. I really miss it, will I ever drink tea again?!

I'm not going to make Rasta Santa unfortunately, does anyone fancy a post christmas meet up? Early Jan?
