Can we make a decision so I can book a room?

MrsFlittersnoop · 06/08/2011 19:34

Ok, I popped into the Cork Vaults this afternoon and made a provisional booking for a group of about 25 on Saturday 17th September, from 2.00pm until... whenever. They don't close until 1.00am apparently. There is no charge for the reservation - they will just ring me a week in advance to confirm we are still coming. I said we would be having drinks, snacks and some meals over the course of the afternoon and evening.

Hope this is OK - it does not commit us to anything, so if we come up with a more congenial venue I can just let them know.

It is 3 minutes walk to Greggs from the Cork BTW!

MrsFlittersnoop · 06/08/2011 19:39

Don't know about free wine, but they offer a student discount so I may be able to sort summat out. The manager seemed like a nice boy Wink who would be open to persuasion, especially after I told him we felt the Slug & Lettuce was perhaps a tad downmarket for the likes of us!

hagridthehamster · 06/08/2011 19:42

Erm, is it too late to ask if I can come? I'm Bristol not Bath but it sounds too good to miss and I met the lovely Custy and 5gomad at last years Xmas bash in London :)

MoaningMcMyrtlepants · 06/08/2011 21:30

MrsF thank you for doing that for us. Love the idea of telling him the S&L was too downmarket Grin

Hagrid There are a few coming from Bristol so I reckon you will be most welcome.

TheRhubarb · 08/08/2011 10:44

Brilliant. So just to confirm for folks then the venue is now:
The Cork Vaults
for chip butties
2pm Sat the 17th September

Cheers MrsF Smile
Hagrid course you can and fivegomad - book yer room missus (although when I looked at Travelodge it was £120 per room) Shock

oldsilver · 08/08/2011 14:56

Thanks for that diary duly updated!!

hagridthehamster · 08/08/2011 15:15

5gomad, if you want to sleep at ours you're welcome, or anyone else for that matter. DDs are off at other parents that weekend :)

fivegomadindorset · 08/08/2011 20:53

Hagrid that is very kind of you but having had a very busy summer with DC's, work and B&B guests, I am looking forward to a night on my own and someone else cooking breakfast. Plus I am hideous in the mornings.

Tortington · 08/08/2011 22:32

ACES!!!

hagridthehamster · 08/08/2011 23:19

No worries 5go

TheRhubarb · 09/08/2011 08:59

Stupid question but are we actually eating in the Cork Vaults? Or just getting snacks or drinks or what?

MoaningMcMyrtlepants · 09/08/2011 09:44

I assumed we would be eating thee in the evening bu will go with what people decide.

TheRhubarb · 09/08/2011 15:59

Oh right, yeah course. I wasn't sure as I suppose it depends how long people are staying out for. It just makes it awkward if some people are eating lunch and others are waiting for an evening meal. We could always have a late lunch, a sort of teanch? Or dintea, yeah I like that. Shall we have a dintea?

Oh and whilst I'm here, do any of you lot happen to have an in-car DVD player I could borrow for the next two weeks? I'm desperate! I normally borrow my sister's but she's 200 miles away. We've a 26 hour journey to south of France with kids and could really do with some in-car entertainment for them.

fivegomadindorset · 09/08/2011 18:57

I do.

TheRhubarb · 09/08/2011 20:11

Really? Whereabouts are you? Are you near Chippenham?

fivegomadindorset · 09/08/2011 20:25

And therin lies the problem, no, Dorset. Posted without thinking, which ferry are you going from?

fivegomadindorset · 09/08/2011 20:25

I can do a day trip with DC's and meet you somewhere possibly?

TheRhubarb · 09/08/2011 20:30

No no, it's ok. Don't go out of your way. Perhaps someone else will come along who lives a little nearer, after all there are a few on this thread who are up my end so you never know. Thanks very much though Smile

TheRhubarb · 12/08/2011 07:48

Right off on hols tomorrow, will look in when I get back Smile

TandB · 15/08/2011 09:08

Bollocks to it. I don't know where the Cork Vauts are. I am going to Greggs.

Who is with me? Grin

fivegomadindorset · 18/08/2011 21:00

Done it booked a room, splashed out on a double bed, no DC's DH or dog, woo hoo. May be a little late as hopefully meeting a friend for a couple of hours, she used to be a MNer and dithering about coming for a bit. Can any Bathites tell me, do shops open Sunday, particularly Duo?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 18/08/2011 21:44

Yes, yes shops open Sunday! On my phone so a pita to post links, but Google "Mee". Is luverly :)

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 18/08/2011 21:47

Oh ok - here

fivegomadindorset · 18/08/2011 21:49

Oh that looks good, sister is 40 in October will have a mooch and see if I can get her something.
