Waiting for Kara...

OP posts:
Indith · 09/11/2011 10:32

I've been playing on MN for an hour already!

Internet too slow for music/TV without it getting all stop/start and pissing me off.

She is starfished and hogging the duvet and I don't want to wake her stealing it back.

Don't tell me to browse Amazon, I can't afford it!

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/11/2011 10:34

you could... learn a language, read all the in-depth news and comment. Do you have headphones there - could go onto BBC podcasts and find something nice?

Indith · 09/11/2011 11:38

She is still asleep! Poor baby girl.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/11/2011 11:45

Aww poor D!!
I second the sleep thing...

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/11/2011 12:50

have you got away yet Indith? Hope DD is OK and sleeping it all off, not going down with something.

Indith · 09/11/2011 16:30

She eventually woke at 12.30, snuggled for the afternoon and had another little kip on the way back from school. Wonder if she will go to sleep tonight! Glands are up and one of her tonsils appears to be covering aobut 3/4 of her throat, no white infectious looking patches though, not sure if I can quite be bothered to try the Dr in the morning or not [lazy], her glands always go up when she is poorly which probably means her tonsils go up too I've just never really looked until Spiggy poked me for long enough. Shall decide in the morning.

Would you count her as infectious? Obviously vomit etc is a no no but not sure about throat like that? Just it is my toddler group in the morning, I have a friend who can do it if she has to (used to come to group but her ds at school now) but will be a pain for her.

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/11/2011 21:40

ah, poor little D! Hope she's feeling better after all her sleep (and does some sleeping tonight!).

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 10/11/2011 11:57

Poor D, hope she is better today. FWIW, I used to take mine out and about with tonsilitis. Once your tonsils become manky that is the official medical term then you respond more than someone who doesn't have problems so she feels worse than someone without tonsil problems would with the same bug. She might feel rotten but won't be a particular risk to others unless they have immune problems.

Does that make sense? I'm finding it hard to tell at the moment. T is cutting THREE teeth at once and trying to crawl. This does not make for nice restful nights or days. DP is doing a late shift tonight so I just had 2 1/2 uninterrupted hours for the first time in aaaaages.

Indith · 10/11/2011 13:36

Spiggy you poor thing!

After all that daytime sleep dd went straight to sleep at 7pm. Lovely. Except she then decided that since the world as we know it would end if she slept properly she had to chop her daytime sleep off the night and woke up at 3.30am Hmm.

She is however far more chirpy today and devouring food to make up for hte past few days.

Cake tomorrow!

Some of oyu have posh phones that can go on interweb don't you? Was looking at teh menu fo La Tasca. The Christmas one looks a bit pants, see if we can decide on one of the regular fixed menu things instead so we don't fanny around trying to decide on stuff on the night.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 10/11/2011 14:32

3:30? urgh. Glad she has perked up a bit but am guessing you now feel rough! The boy is having a nap and I have discovered re-runs of Due South on the tv so I am lying on the sofa ogling mounties having a rest.

Don't have a magic t'interweb phone so shall have a look at the menu now...

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/11/2011 16:08

indith I now have a fancy all singing all dancing smart phone, so will look up the La Tasca menu tomorrow to drool over!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/11/2011 16:09

Sorry all I can see is "churros"

stickyLFDTfingers · 10/11/2011 17:38

Is it helpful if I copy and paste the menus here? BTW I'm not shouting, just how they've done the menu :) All looks good to me...

Well the granny who had the stroke died last night. She had been doing really well, was awake and chatty (although fairly confused about what era she was living in and who everyone was) for a couple of weeks or so and I saw her during that time but then her body just started to shut down. I think her death is the best news we could have really under the circumstances, I wouldn't have wanted her to continue deteriorating as she was, she certainly never wanted to go down that road.

A lot of memories in my granny though especially around Christmas. She had a huge house and her 3 sons, wives and all us cousins used to spend every Christmas there right from childhood where it was full of magic to teenage years when we would muffle our giggles in bed as we heard our parents trying to quietly stuff our stockings outside the bedroom door.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 13/11/2011 16:07

I'm sorry to hear about your granny Indith. Am glad you got to see and speak to her before she went. Her Christmases sound wonderful and am sure you've taken some of that magic into your own Christmases with the DCs.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/11/2011 16:23

Indith Sad but as you say it is better she goes now before she suffers anymore and she is at peace now.

stickyLFDTfingers · 14/11/2011 09:46

I'm sorry to hear that Indith. It's like an end of an era when they go, isn't it? She sounds like a lovely granny.

Indith · 18/11/2011 14:01

Then my computer went bang. But I now have a shiny new toy :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/11/2011 06:27

Yey for shiny new toy!!!

I had a lovely lunch thanks to Leggyblond and FrozenNorth (who is going to try and come to LaTasca!)

And I got to go on my soapbox and talk about breastfeeding to an captive attentive audience! Woohoo!

stickyLFDTfingers · 19/11/2011 22:29

Hooray for shiny new toys and lovely lunches!Grin

Is it wrong that I'm already planning out what cocktails (notice the plural there) I might have on Dec 8th?

juneybean · 19/11/2011 23:01

So I need to see Indith, and I wouldn't mind see anyone else, so anyone available for the botanic gardens on Wednesday morning, 10am ish?

Indith · 20/11/2011 09:17

Not wrong at all. I have a fantasty drinks list involving a few cocktails from ebony and rather a lot of the sloe gin currently steeping in my cupboard. Can I give birth yet?

Botanics. Feed fish. Eat cake. The perfect, child friendly combination. Plus I just went and renewed my season ticket even though I wasn't sure how much I'd use it with dd starting nursery in January so I need to go lots before Christmas!

juneybean · 20/11/2011 22:43

Is 10am ish okay? I might have lured SPB into coming too Grin
