Manchester Mumsnetters?!

Juno and I are moving to Manchester in about 5 weeks time (from London!). We're both from Manchester originally, but have both been in London for 12 years +. We'll be staying in Stockport for a few months and then hoping to buy somewhere in the South Manchester/Stockport area.

Just wondered if there are any Mumsnetters around the place 'up North' for meet ups?!

DS is 11 months, napping too! And I wonder why the house is always a tip and I never get anything done - funny how the internet always takes preference over the ironing isn't it?!

DickWhittingtonsCat · 14/12/2004 16:44

mediagirl, and all you Mancunians, very sorry not to have replied. I hadn't read down the thread to consider the ages of everyone's children; my ds is 5 and a bit too big for the ball pool! I'm a bit scared of the Trafford Centre, because the only times I've been there I've been stuck in a huge car queue when Mum has taken me out to the January sales! This year we have agreed that we'll leave ds at home and Mum and I will go to the sales single-mindedly with a shopping list.

Lucycat · 14/12/2004 20:23

Well I'm here again! DH is out on his work's 'do', he'd rather have stayed here though, had to virtually push him out of the door. He's gone to 'The Lime Tree' in West Disbury, fantastic food, I would have gone instead! Dd1 & Dd2 are both asleep so I can spend ages on here until Crimewatch is on - you never know when you might be able to solve the crime of the century - am I really sad?(grin)

Lucycat · 14/12/2004 20:24

meant got the brackets wrong!!

mediagirl · 14/12/2004 20:52

Do people prefer a meet up with their children or without them?
Any other ideas to a suitable venue?
Can everybody drive and have access to a car?
When is everybody free?

Levanna · 15/12/2004 00:02

With or without, but a bit of adult socialising sounds good (just about had it up to here ^ with littley's parties!) (oops, bad mum !)
I don't have any venue ideas, sorry.
Have transport, and I'm free any day 'cept fridays.

MancMum · 15/12/2004 12:53

I would say without as my 2 don't sit still for very long and so I would not see anybody!

hollybet · 15/12/2004 13:10

Without, as mine are 16, 11 and 8!

mediagirl · 15/12/2004 19:48

Ok, so without kids sounds the option that appeals to most so far......would everyone prefer meeting during the day or going out in the evening for a meal.
I think a nice meal would be good where we can have drinks afterwards so we can chat?! I also think after Christmas would be ideal (January) as a. it's something to look forward to and b. Everywhere is chocca at the moment.
What does everyone else think because I will go with the flow? Does anyone have a preference for a certain type of restaurant i.e only Chinese etc?

MancMum · 16/12/2004 11:44

january sounds best - how about a second week - Wednesday night...now where.... Trafford Centre? City Centre? Didsbury?

hollybet · 16/12/2004 12:02

Tiggy's in the Trafford Centre is nice

and not too expensive after Christmas

mediagirl · 16/12/2004 18:39

Tiggi's is lovely......had many a nice meal in there! Ok I am up for that so what day? Mancmum you mentioned second week in January, how does that week suit everyone else? Wednesday night sounds good to me.........so then what about Wednesday 12th January at Tiggi's in the Trafford Centre?

Who is up for it? Should be really great and nice to put faces to names!

MancMum · 16/12/2004 19:45

put me down for Jan 12!

mediagirl · 16/12/2004 21:45

Excellent mancmum.....ok everyone, any advance on 2??

mediagirl · 16/12/2004 21:47

Mancmum - how old are you 2 children?

MancMum · 17/12/2004 13:09

5 and 18 months... so at that age when sitting down to eat with them is a distant hope!!

MancMum · 17/12/2004 13:16

sorry - should have asked- -how old are youes?

mediagirl · 17/12/2004 20:26

Son is 2.5 and daughter is 4 months! God it is so different with 2 isn't it?
DH is on a works do tonight and I was hoping for a relaxing night! No chance DD won't settle so I am showing her how to use the computer!
Looks like just me and you so far for the meetup!!
Where in South Manchester are you mancmum?

Come on all you fellow mancunians are you up for the meet up?...Hollybet?? Levanna?? etc

MancMum · 17/12/2004 21:35

hope DD is taking to the computer...my DD is obsesed with the off switch just as I am doing a huge document -- bless her as I always try to say at those moments!

I live in Sth Manchester Didsbury way...I am sure we will get more on the meetup - I guess people are just out having lives..... which is my new years resoltion...as well as learning to spell!

Levanna · 18/12/2004 23:02

I'm sorry, I'm committed to something on Wednesdays (and Fridays...... looks like I do have some sort of social life after all. I could have sworn I don't get out much!)
But, TBH though I'd love to come to a meet up, DD2 is 3.5 months and breastfed...she wont let a bottle anywhere near her (I have tried going out for a couple of hours (just around the corner and with the mobile to hand!), but she won't give in - she'd rather wait!)
So, maybe I ought to wait for the next meet up, but I'm really looking forward to whichever one I do get to .

mediagirl · 21/12/2004 19:46

eeeh Levanna what are you like, I thought it was just Fridays you couldn't do.....not to worry. I think it will be inevitable that the date we agree on will not suit everyone and I also think that after Christmas there will be a better response to a meetup, I reckon everyone is too busy at the moment wrapping pressies etc to check this thread! On that note I am off to finish wrapping my endless presents! x

Hi - I can do Wednesday 12th if it's still on - will have to miss my Rosemary Conley class but that's probably no bad thing after all the pigging out I've done over Xmas!

hollybet · 30/12/2004 12:45

yes, I can do Wednesday 12th at Tiggi's in the Trafford Centre, may have dd with me, but she is 16!

Where are all the others?

moniker · 04/01/2005 10:44

bump!!

Trickee · 04/01/2005 15:27

Hi I've just joined Mumsnet. I live in Sale Cheshire and have one little boy, Lewis who is two this month. It would be nice to hear from other mums in the Sale area.
