Media request: has your political allegiance shifted to Reform?

RhiannonEMumsnet · 05/01/2026 13:39

Hi there,

We've received the following media request.

Thanks,
MNHQ

I'd like to speak to women from Mumsnet whose political allegiances have changed to Reform in recent times. Ideally they would be willing to be named and pictured (in a piece for the Telegraph). Please contact [email protected] if you are interested.

Please don't mistake us being frustrated with Labour as a willingness to vote for a bunch of fascists.

Oh, please @RhiannonEMumsnet. I can’t believe you’ve posted this.

Agree completely

I agree with @minskspies too. It's sad that so many of us don't feel represented.

No, because I’m not completely insane.

I like Jill, and follow her on Twitter. If she''s reading - Jill I think the story here is the women who are politically homeless. As another poster on another thread about this said - surely people who don't want to vote Labour and are not keen on Reform would be registering a protest vote - in which case why is the 'other' line not increasing? Why do NONE of the political parties appeal to women now?

Me too, and she comes from my neck of the woods from what I have gathered off X.

I also agree that there is not a single party that gives a fuck about women despite them being 51% of the population. I've been politically homeless for what seems like 5 years.

chisping · 06/01/2026 12:03

I also like Jill Foster and follow her.
I'm not voting reform though.
There certainly are plenty of reform supporters on MN, you only have to read some of the more political threads.
I don't think Reform have the answers and I don't think they have the skills or experience to run the country. I will not label anyone as racist/stupid/ etc for supporting them because I believe in old fashioned political discussion rather than shouting abuse.

I have voted for every party except Green over the years. Mostly Labour and I still haven't given up on Labour. My politics are all over the place. Mostly centre left, some far left and some centre right.
Women's rights are important to me and I thought Labour were turning in the right direction but apparently Bridget Phillipson has other ideas.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/01/2026 12:04

Will the Telegraph journalist see this thread🤣

I am fairly sure a lot of the reform supporters on mumsnet are just bots to be honest
. The writing style and education level is quite palpably different from the rest of the people using the site

Indeed. The graph produced actually shows the biggest swing is to "none/not sure/ wouldn't vote" rather than Reform. But that fact seems to have been ignored.

Edited

I can’t see the axis labels on this graph but it looks like fewer people support Reform than when the graph started.

CallMeEvelyn · 06/01/2026 12:09

Is Reform looking to use MNetters as their poster mums to encourage women's vote?

Awww. Cute.

Women are smart enough not to support their misogyny.

And frankly none of the political parties these days support us, might create my own and see what happens.

FlashingFairyLight · 06/01/2026 12:11

This was discussed on LBC on Sunday.
Apparently a Mumsnet survey revealed that Reform were our party of choice (I didn't participate in it, or see it advertised) with the highest % of votes.

Cue loads of ranty men calling in opining in why this could not possibly be so, we didn't understand, we were victims of our biological urges (tell me you're single without telling me you're single) & then maybe one woman who said MN was infested with men doing the voting 🤨

I did text in to say women are politically homeless and we see the things that matter to us (generalising) getting worse. Most of us work & see our families getting less & less value for our hard earned money, our childrens schools & the NHS are falling to bits, services for kids & families shrinking, elderly support is non-existent...
In many cases, I don't think it would be an actual vote FOR reform because they've got brilliant policies - I think it' would be because the other parties have proved useless and reform is the only alternative with a hope of getting in.

I have no idea who I'd vote for tomorrow but if that twat Farage is the best Britain has to offer as our representative in the world, we are fucked. That said, with the equally offensive Trump appointing himself as President of the Whole Entire World, maybe it's in the UKs best interests to be onside with the orange menace and Farage is the best man for that odious job.

Climbinghigher · 06/01/2026 12:13

No thanks. And I live in flag wankers territory. Fuck Reform.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/01/2026 12:15

Nevermind17 · 05/01/2026 17:56

I’d display my bare arse on your front page before I’d consider ever voting Reform.

I’ll take your bare arse and raise it. I’d nail my tongue to the floor of a public lavatory before I’d vote for those charlatans.

HTH, Jill Foster.

Perplexed20 · 06/01/2026 12:17

Will never vote reform.

Topseyt123 · 06/01/2026 12:22

Of course I would never vote for a bunch of fascists like Reform!

Why has this question even been posted on here? They shouldn't be given the oxygen of publicity.

Are you sure? It would take a lot of strength to raise my bare arse these days! 😂

ImWearingPantaloons · 06/01/2026 12:28

Hell no

ItsPronouncedThroatwobblerMangrove · 06/01/2026 12:29

Never in a million years.

If that impression has been gained from scraping data from posts, then the journalist should be aware that MN, like all social media, seems to have been overrun in recent times by posts from obvious bots, bad actors or paid shills for Reform, and this is clearly skewing the stats. I think it would be much more fruitful to investigate where this, and all the other insidious social media pushes which keep Reform in the news and in voters’ phones, is coming from, and in particular how it’s being financed. Maybe Jill would like to look into that rather than the Telegraph giving yet more coverage to how well Reform appear to be doing. I do wonder why they are so keen to pursue this story.

Pashazade · 06/01/2026 12:31

Never, I would not vote rather than vote for reform. Bunch of misogynistic, racist, old white men who have only ever lived with white middle class privilege. And no I’ve never voted Tory either!
