The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

OP posts:
ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 28/08/2013 07:31

Oh dear, I'm not one of your thread friends but I just wanted to say that I hope you're ok, and got some sleep. My youngest daughter had an accident last year and it really does terrify you.

I work with SEN children, so have some understanding of how difficult the whole situation must have been. Hugs, proper un-mumsnetty ones. Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 28/08/2013 07:45

trucks how horrible for you all. Hope you are feeling better this morning.

captainmummy · 28/08/2013 08:36

Trucks -what an awful night! having to hold your child down must be absolutely horrifying - for both of you. Hope you are all feeling better now.

BIWI - where's the new Boot Camp thread? How do we sign up (you;d think I'd know by now...)

QueenQueenie · 28/08/2013 09:43

It's the thread in Low Carb Diets cunningly called Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp starts 9th September... Wink

LilyAmaryllis · 28/08/2013 10:56

Wow Trucks how horrible, I hope you are all recovering from the shock and horror.

Good luck Mouse your posts are usually so joyous and you have all that difficult stuff to contend with in the background! I hope you have/had a great last day of holiday.

I went off-piste yesterday at a meeting-and-dinner-out... the charge sheet includes flapjacks, elderflower cordial, chips, bread and orange segments! I am calling that a special occasion cheat (it wasn't planned as such). I almost never slip up so I've hopped right back up on the wagon with a scrambled egg breakfast.

Obviously come the new season bootcamp I won't CONSIDER doing such a thing!!

TheRedRabbit · 28/08/2013 14:04

I am going to a dinner party tonight and will have to eat whatever is put in front of me for politeness. What can I do to minimise the damage?!

Obviously just get back on track tomorrow and drink lots of water but anything else...?

Secondsop · 28/08/2013 14:25

Oh dear god trucks really hope your little one is ok.

LilyAmaryllis · 28/08/2013 15:21

TheRedRabbit - I'd say, enjoy the food (ie don't worry or beat yourself up). Don't give into any addictive cravings that result (ie, don't snack when you come home). After that, I think they say, plenty of water, get back on the wagon properly the next day as if nothing happened? Maybe someone wiser will come along in a minute.

CrabbyBigBottom · 28/08/2013 15:53

Trucks that sounds awful. Hope you and he are recovered now.

Rabbit I'd just try to eat lots of the low carb components and as little as possible of the carbier bits. Obviously if it's a pasta dish then you're pretty much screwed. Wink

I just wanted to note that being a complete carby twat is not nearly as much fun as I anticipated! Hmm Grin I decided that I'd enjoy the last week of August as a holiday from low carbing and then start my new healthy autumn lifestyle next Monday. I made lemon cake last night and had bread and hummus for lunch. I'm so bloated and windy Blush that my size 14 trousers feel tight (they've been barely staying up lately). The carbs don't even taste that amazing, frankly, and I've got a stinking headache!

I'm going to enjoy my anya potatoes and peas tonight with smoked mackeral, but tomorrow I'm making a ragu and looking forward to my cougette 'pasta'.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 28/08/2013 15:57

DS is fine thanks for hand holding!
I am a wreck after being up since 4am.
Really wanted carbs breakfast treats but had smoked salmon wrapped in lettuce, ham and cheese instead which has stopped the hunger.
I think adrenaline and shock messes with insulin respsonse. I was exhausted but not hungry last night, made myself eat some chicken salad to stop the wine knocking me out and today I was very hungry and weepy on waking which is not like me at all on this woe.

Too tired to Shred, might go for a swim as can't nap during the day.

KinkyDorito · 28/08/2013 16:57

Trucks sympathies - DD is Aspie and has just finished 2.5 years of invasive hospital treatment. She's 15 now but regresses any time she needs to have something done. It's why I've put so much weight on, it's really tough to cope with. I hope DS has had a good day today. I'm not surprised you feel like that at all - so exhausting. Flowers

This WOE is expensive. £200 this week Shock. I'm hoping that once my store cupboard is better stocked and I'm better organised, it will get a lot cheaper. Not used to spending over £100.

timidviper · 28/08/2013 21:48

Trucks Many years ago we had to hold a screaming 2.5yr old DS down for a split open eyebrow to be stitched, you have my sympathies. Believe me he will forget it before you do!

I had a real carby twat weekend, spent yesterday with stomach cramps and nausea and am still queasy and headachey today. I'm compensating with my new favourite drink, sparkling water with loads of ice and some bruised mint leaves. It is so gorgeous I am quite worried about myself! Grin

Mouseface · 28/08/2013 23:13

Trucks - Feck, I hope you are all okay now sweetheart! That is such a shock of a thing to go through. My brother sliced his head open and had to have it stapled back together. EWWW! But I really hope your little dude is cool.

My DS is SN and hates having anything invasive done - taking blood etc, which I need to get done and have been putting off for months. Big hugs for you all xxx

Thanks Lily - today was awesome. We had a fab last day... just enough sun to tan, not too hot and Nemo went in the sea again in his wetsuit just like his daddy which was brilliant! They are so alike and I loved it. They are two peas in a pod in their suits.

Food today was -

B - scrambled eggs, and 2 rashers of low carb/sugar bacon.

L - prawn salad with mayo.

D - roman chicken (chicken, bacon 1 rasher, onion, rosemary, garlic, small cup of white wine, button mushrooms and a teaspoon of tomato puree)

S - walnut halves x 6.

5 pints of water and 2 glasses of dry white wine because it's our last day on hols, plus 2 squares of Lindt 80% chocolate. Because I can and it's almost September Bootcamp! Grin

So, lovely campers, see you tomorrow. Lots of good luck and love to you all.

I'll be back once home with real Broadband and WiFi :) xxx

NewStartNewStory · 29/08/2013 10:23

Mouse hope you have the weather you were hoping for!

I have been off the wagon pretty badly cake, sugar. But i can't bring myself to eat pasta, potatoes and generally bread. Really weird. I guess the bad reactions when i have added it back has made an impact on my subconscious. looking forward soo much to the start of bootcamp. Although judging by the sign up list poor biwi and willie will be found rocking in the corner at this rate Shock

LilyAmaryllis · 29/08/2013 23:21

Ahhh I love the father and son wetsuit image!

Another day of behaving well here...

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 30/08/2013 03:45

Thanks for kind words and support during wobbly time! DS is much better and mostly forgets about stitches - we've hidden the mirrors!

Mouse face hope your holiday was just brilliant and everyone enjoyed the surf and fresh air!

Timid hope your tummy recovers fast, sounds nasty.

Kinky hope your daughter feels better now she doesn't have to endure further invasive treatment - you must be exhausted by it all as well :(

Purple2012 · 30/08/2013 06:45

Wish me luck. First day low carbing today. I made a chicken asparagus and cheese fritata last night to have for lunch today - and im very nervous as I have been vegetarian for over 25 years but I really want to start eating some meat as I need more variety in my diet.

StuntNun · 30/08/2013 07:48

G'luck Purple remember to drink plenty of water and keep your electrolytes up (I use Lo-Salt) to get you through the first few days.

I have had a dodgy couple of weeks with being away and the chaos of the end of the school holidays so hopefully I can get back on track. I have STS which is no bad thing as I had lost weight quite rapidly and I think my musculature such as it is needs to catch up with the loss of visceral fat. Has anyone else had this? My tummy looks like I just had a baby! I assume everything will shrink back into place over time.

BlackAffronted · 30/08/2013 08:01

My DS just started school 2 weeks ago, and yesterday I had to try school dinners with him. I couldnt say no, so had to eat the dinner they provided. Went for the steak pie, as the other options were pizza or pasta! So feeling a wee bit bloated today.

For those who asked, I am doing social sciences at college - hoping to have a psychology degree in the next few years Grin. I love my time table, this term we are doing philosophy, crininology, sociology, history & literature. Very excited! Also, the canteen has a fab salad bar & do ommlettes :)

LilyAmaryllis · 30/08/2013 10:18

Black what really interesting things to be studying. It sounds quite full-on, are you doing this in the time when your DS is at school or how does it work?

Yay for the salad bar!

I've had to PUT THE CHEESE BACK IN THE FRIDGE this morning, I've been a bit snacky. I know its low-carb but moderation, moderation. Poured a glass of water instead.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 30/08/2013 11:45

Is it normal to lose 6.5lbs in five days? Will some go back on next week? I wasn't to big to begin with, 154lbs at 5ft9.

BlackAffronted · 30/08/2013 12:02

ImATot, I have lost 10lb+ in a week before, but I am much bigger.

Lily, yes Im at college while my kids are at school, though I do need childcare for after school 2 days a week.

My plantar facsitis has made a reappearance :( I was plagued by it last year, hardly able to walk some days. Felt the familiar twinges in my foot this morning during the school run.

Purple2012 · 30/08/2013 12:55

I did it. I ate the chicken. It felt weird but I stuck at it.

KinkyDorito · 30/08/2013 13:36

Im I've lost 6lbs in last 4 but much bigger than you, though same height. Water weight. Think it depends on how you've been eating before you start too? I was piling rubbish so very bloated.

KinkyDorito · 30/08/2013 13:39

Purple well done - is really, really tough. I tried last time I went low-carb but had to admit defeat. I would like more variety in my diet too and understand where you are coming from. I do eat some fish, but no red meat or chicken (except on that attempt) for 24 years.
