The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

kinky I could never eat fish. It was hard to do, I have made lots of attempts over the last few years where I intend to start eating meat but have never been able to follow it through.

HairyPorter · 30/08/2013 18:17

Flowers for whoever posted about cheese crisps! They're amazing! I daren't do more than 2 slices at a go though as they're so more-ish! I have an exam next Tuesday so have been lax on the diet front (1slice of toast and a handful of raisins for the past few days), and am really looking forward to bc starting. I haven't stepped on the scales in a long while (started LC about 6w ago) but my bum is definitely shrinking! :)

Does anyone have any idea what I could do with turkey escalopes? They're very lean, would frying them in butter work?

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/08/2013 19:53

Stunt you can dip them in egg and then grated parmesan and then fry them for a sort of 'breaded' chicken experience. You can put all herbs and/spices that you like in with the parmesan to make different flavours. It is lovely!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/08/2013 20:04

Happy Birthday, BIWI!

I have just made the BEST new invention: Low-carb tuna melts. Tin of tuna, mix liberally with ff mayo, chopped red pepper and grated cheese. Also salt and pepper and I chucked in some chilli flakes. I'd have put in some chopped spring onion or shallot in if we'd had any. Shape into burgers and fry in butter. Takes hardly any time - maybe a minute each side, max. Then mmm, lovely crispy cheesey tuna-y deliciousness! Wish I'd made more but there was only one can of tuna. Maybe I could skip the tuna and do grated cheese, pepper and mayo blobs.

I know this should go in the recipe thread but it was so yummy I had to post it here for maximum exposure.

LilyAmaryllis · 30/08/2013 22:41

Wow TooExtra that sounds yummy. Looking forward to trying that.

Have been feeling quite hungry... my dinner went down without touching the sides!

Mouseface · 30/08/2013 23:11

I was on here a while ago but haven't posted or MN'd for weeks. Can I please come back, like the prodigal low-carber?

I've lost about 6lb in as many weeks - I'm happy to be going slow and steady but think I might be eating too much. Attempted a juice diet for three days but couldn't take the sweetness of the juices. So I'm back on the One True Path...Just a bit of a nuisance if you're travelling a lot for work. (Only so many M&S chicken fillets and green salads I can stomach...)

And Cake and Wine to you, BIWI. Happy birthday to the Queen of Low Carb. Hope you've had a brilliant day and thank you so much for steering us through the carb jungle!

StuntNun · 31/08/2013 05:54

Thanks MrsHP that sounds lovely. Is there any substitute for egg for Parmesan 'breadcrumbs'? I wonder if buttermilk or melted butter would work?

sybilfaulty · 31/08/2013 07:03

Stuntnun, if you soak your chicken in buttermilk for 20 mins (or linger) then the Parmesan just sticks to it. No further glue needed. I make a. Nigella recipe called ritzy chicken for the kids but do Parmesan fried chicken breasts for Dh and me. They are lovely.

sybilfaulty · 31/08/2013 07:04

Linger = longer. Sorry

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/08/2013 08:46

I should think the Parmesan might just stick a bit anyway, but melted butter should work or Sybil has the answer above - sorry I forgot about the eggs.

TheRedRabbit · 31/08/2013 13:18

Happy belated birthday BIWI !

I just made the low carb brownie recipe on the low carb recipe thread and it was sooooo good. The mixture seemed a little bit on the dry side to me so I added a good splash of milk to make it more liquid and the brownies have come out very squidgy and just how I like them :) Thank you to whoever posted it, sorry I can't remember!

I've also tried the pizza made with cream cheese and egg base. I have to say I was very sceptical, particularly when the base cooking in the oven looks like its never going to work, but it does! And definitely helped my pizza craving. Yum.

StuntNun · 31/08/2013 13:31

Thanks Sybil and MrsHP, I'm going to try that. Grin

Purple2012 · 31/08/2013 13:40

Just had chicken for the 2nd day. I noticed even starting just yesterday I wasn't hungry between meals. Normally I snack on rice cakes and fruit but didn't need it.

I know I shouldn't be eating nuts at the start but as Im jjust starting to eat meat again I've been having nuts with yoghurt at breakfast. Also still waiting for my low carb book and I am just trying to start it off before that arrives.

For lunch I had lots of different lettuce, cucumber a few slivers of cheese and a chicken and asparagus frittata.

Will have similar for tea tonight and hoping book arrives so I can find some different foods. My Internet is down so trying to go through the recipe thread on my phone for ideas.

Im assuming the book will have lots of ideas

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 31/08/2013 17:20

Happy birthday - posted on wrong thread dur me!
I broke my 3 week stall and am now within ounces of 144lb goal!

Now going to adjust goal. I haven't been under ten stone for twenty years :)

captainmummy · 31/08/2013 18:51

Well done Purple- it is so much easier to low-carb a a meat-eater! Glad it;s going well.

Well done Trucks too - onwards and downwards.Grin

I'm making lasagne with cheese-slices for pasta - smells yum!

KinkyDorito · 31/08/2013 18:57

I'm 6 days in, and I'm not massively hungry, I like my meals, but I really miss carbs! I think it's probably because it's Saturday and the kind of evening that suits a pizza. We had roasted aubergines, courgettes and mushrooms in a tin of tomatoes with quorn pieces, a little green pesto stirred in, black olives and a few capers with cheddar cheese grated over it. It was lovely, but still miss the pizza.

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/08/2013 19:29

Well done trucks and purple! And well done kinky, I found those cravings have almost entirely gone for me now, but it has taken time and some falls of the wagon on my way. For now you can tell yourself you have had pizza before, you will have it again, just not today (or this week). If you try to imagine never having it again I find that counter productive - don't know if it will work for you, but smaller goals, for me one week at a time helps!

Mouseface · 31/08/2013 20:24

Evening Campers,

Well.............. I am now under 10st (140lbs) and soooooooooooo happy!! I'm weighing in at 9st 11lbs. And that's with a 2 week holiday and no mega cheats other than some white wine on 3 occasions... and the 2 at a time, not every day 75% Lindt squares when I craved a dessert. I need to adjust my weight or should I wait (get it? Grin) until tomorrow when Sept BC starts?

So, I've lost 9lbs since I started and I feel amazing still!! DD went through her wardrobe today, as did I ready for Autumn, (ahhhh, chunky cardies to snuggle up in, woolly scarves and fur topped boots) and I managed to grab myself 3 tops and a pair of age 14 jeans! Which all fit! Shock I'm going to be wearing 14/15 age clothes!

[grins]

Anyway, tonight, I am having a dessert with DH, home grown fruit with whipped cream and one small meringue half. I know, I know but it's a WA/Birthday (DH's) and surviving 2 weeks of having to live with a teenager trapped in holiday hell (according to her) and tomorrow, I'll be right back on track, plus they need eating and I HATE HATE HATE throwing food away which stems from being a child with no food etc Sad....

So, I hope everyone else is doing great, Bootcamp September starts tomorrow doesn't it? Are we on this thread or another?

loopyloou · 31/08/2013 20:38

I have well and truly fallen off the wagon during the hols and after trying to get into my jeans today, the first cooler day, I am shocked at how uncomfortable and tight they are, so looking forward to getting back on track with the new boot camp.

I'm going to have to rethink what we eat, as I've found myself going off most meats and fish recently. I'm ok with mince, sometimes salmon, chicken. Breakfasts are difficult, as I'm fed up of bacon and eggs and also not keen on yoghurt. Last few weeks I've been having Brie on water biscuits. I tried the flaxseed muffin, but didn't like it, so can't eat that as a substitute. I'll work something out though.

LilyAmaryllis · 31/08/2013 21:03

So sorry Mouse you have to wait just over a week (I think it starts 9th September)
