Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing

I hope that this has been a good Bootcamp for you all - it's been fairly quiet and peaceful this time around! Never sure if that's a good thing or not, but at least we haven't had any public flouncing!

I know that not everyone joined us in week one, and @AlmaHart has only just started (!) but don't worry - we'll keep this thread going for general chat and ongoing support.

There are also a couple of extra columns on the spreadsheet too.

Thank you for everyone who has posted and supported - and special thanks to @Finallyhere for womanning the spreadsheet

@Lalalalalaaaa

Welcome. I'm always grateful for anyone prepared to hang around (and support / keep me on track) between actual bootcamps.

Where are you on your low carb high fat 'journey'?

FinallyHere · 20/03/2023 19:03

@pinknsparkly

an internal fight with myself every time I see them

I find that the first bite is the always the easiest to resist. I recognise that 'internal fight' in my head: reminding myself that giving in makes the craving grow usually results in the desire to eat it suffering a KO, giving up and drinking away. 😁

And feel so good when I just don't see the sweet snacks laid out. If anyone makes a point to 'oh try my homemade ... I thank em and wrap up a piece 'for later'.

Who knows how I'll manage when I do get in the target zone to navigate occasional lapses. Fortunately, that's still a good long way away for me.

SpottyBumPony · 20/03/2023 20:22

Thank you all for your support. I woke up with a lovely mother's day present... conjunctivitis!

I've battled against, hot chocolate, Leftover cake, DS's post swimming snack, pizza, chippy, cake again and ordering ice cream. But I've done it.

GY with cream and turmeric
Ham and egg salad (included some chopped apple from yesterday)
More yoghurt
Crispy kale
2 sausages, mashed swede and gravy

Baystard · 20/03/2023 20:33

Well done on your battle spotty! It feels a bit like that for me today, I've been really good but now I'm defending myself against a persistent fruit scone, I'm channelling @BIWI's big stick Grin

Lalalalalaaaa · 21/03/2023 03:53

@FinallyHere - I started on 1 Jan so coming up on three months in. Looking at it long term - I've got about 25kg to go at least. I haven't set myself a formal goal weight because I'll evaluate once I'm closer to it - it's hard to know what weight I 'should' be. At the moment I'm concentrating on moving out of an obese BMI.

Baystard · 21/03/2023 07:32

I find that the first bite is the always the easiest to resist me too @FinallyHere, it's never "just a bite", indeed for me one bite = fuck it I'll just eat any carbs I fancy.

I was reasonably good yesterday but not strict BC as I had coleslaw with lunch, half a roasted carrot with dinner, and a plum for dessert (instead of dark choc). Nevertheless I feel a bit less bloated today.

I made stock from the chicken carcase last night so will make a big pot of thai cauliflower soup today.

FinallyHere · 24/03/2023 13:18

Hello lovely people, just checking in on a madly busy Friday. I'm zooming around today and thinking of this thread reminded me that I haven't hardly drunk anything at all today

I now have a delicious flask of fresh ginger tea to keep me company as I fly around.
M hope all going well and KOKO

BIWI · 24/03/2023 16:59

Apologies for absence - have just enjoyed 10 days away in Barbados, and haven't been on MN much. Lovely, lovely holiday (DH had a significant birthday), but the less said about what I ate/drank the better!

Ooh, @BIWI , how lovely for you to have some sunshine - maybe the rays will cancel out any non BC-friendly food. Hope you return relaxed and happy!

BIWI · 24/03/2023 18:25

I'm not very happy about coming back to this weather though!

Welcome home @BIWI.

I've had a few good days but today had a big bread craving at 5pm. I battled it, eventually gave in and buttered a small slice and then I heard...

thwack...
thwack...
THWACK...

I gave the buttered bread to DDog. Close squeak!

Had a bit of cheese instead.

Goodness, @BIWI

"Thoughts and prayers" for you at this time 😁

SpottyBumPony · 25/03/2023 12:28

I've survived the week lol.

I made a pastrami salad last night which called foe shredded savoy cabbage instead of lettuce but wasn't keen at all.

However I've just had a perfect Omelette with green beans, cherry toms, cream cheese and bacon. With and added bonus of a #perfect cup of coffee

Baystard · 25/03/2023 18:08

Well done @SpottyBumPony! Oddly enough I'm not a huge fan of savoy cabbage but enjoy all other types.

It's takeaway for dinner in our house so I've made a huge cold salmon salad which I'll have when the rest of the family have their pizza delivered.

Rollerbird · 25/03/2023 18:58

Nice rib eye with asparagus and mushrooms in cream sauce tonight

StuntNun · 26/03/2023 09:42

Gotta love celeriac chips.

FinallyHere · 26/03/2023 13:43

Oh, yes, I'm a big fan of celeriac chips

Peri peri cabbage is another dish quite I came across recently. It was completely delicious, deeply savoury served in Joia (we were visiting Battersea Power Station)

On the menu as Piti Piti cabbage with pine nuts, garlic and chilli

www.joiabattersea.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/JOIA-Restaurant-Menu.pdf

I have utterly failed to recreated the deeply savoury-ness of it or find any kind of recipe. Any suggestions very welcome indeed.

BIWI · 26/03/2023 14:17

How have you tried cooking it so far?

OP posts:
FinallyHere · 26/03/2023 23:25

Stir fried or air-fryed slices cabbage, sprayed with olive oil or painted with molten duck/goose fat.

Oil and fat infused with garlic and chilli.

There is a deeply savoury note completely missing, hoping it's not MSG or other additive.

SpottyBumPony · 27/03/2023 08:37

@FinallyHere what about adding some soy sauce, marmite or bovril?

I'm really pleased, the scales are heading down instead of up. I didn't think they would this week but looking back I didn't have breakfast most days and although I had yoghurt after dinner sometimes I wasn't didn't have fruit and cream

BIWI · 27/03/2023 09:52

I was going to suggest something like Marmite - or Miso? Miso seems to be a flavour 'du jour'!

Could it have been pan-fried in lots of butter? You know how they love to baste stuff with loads of butter, if you watch Masterchef/Great British Menu?

Whatever - it sounds lovely and I'm going to have a go at it myself. Will report back Smile

Hey everyone just wondering if there weee any plans for another BC starting any time soon?

mimosa1 · 27/03/2023 10:40

Hi everyone,
I'm really pleased I've kept the last BC weight off for the last month seemingly without effort. Im wondering about whether this is one of my body's natural "set points" as it's a weight I was previously for a long time. Id like to lose more as I'm nowhere close to a normal BMI (and DH has lost a stone in the last couple of weeks) so I've decided to get back on the wagon and posting here for accountability.
Wishing you all the best !
