Jan '23 Low Carb Bootcamp - the final weigh-in

BIWI · 06/03/2023 07:52

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing

I hope that this has been a good Bootcamp for you all - it's been fairly quiet and peaceful this time around! Never sure if that's a good thing or not, but at least we haven't had any public flouncing!

I know that not everyone joined us in week one, and @AlmaHart has only just started (!) but don't worry - we'll keep this thread going for general chat and ongoing support.

There are also a couple of extra columns on the spreadsheet too.

Thank you for everyone who has posted and supported - and special thanks to @Finallyhere for womanning the spreadsheet

Hi everyone, I am back on the LC wagon after falling off for a couple of months during a period of work stress/fatigue and sugar comfort. Have lost 2kg in 3 weeks, a bit slower than I've previously experienced at the start but I have been hitting the cashew nuts and dairy to get me through snack cravings so that's undoubtedly why. Hoping for another 3kg in the next 5 weeks before hols.

So grateful for this thread continuing as I really value all the support and advice.

prettybird · 09/06/2023 14:23

I've fallen off the wagon badly and have just booked a holiday to South Africa in September (late 25th wedding anniversary to ourselves Smile) so I need to get my act together pronto Blush

I've checked with BIWI and she's happy with me running a Boot Camp. The discipline of me being responsible for it will help keep me focussed Halo

Is anyone interested in joining me? I'm currently seeing if I can get a new spreadsheet sorted and if so, will start a sign up thread.

Stokey · 09/06/2023 16:41

Yes please @prettybird that would be amazing. I keep starting and then something happens and I fall off so just need to be more disciplined.

I have a question for those of you that do low carb and 16:8. Do you try and get 3 meals in within the 8 hours or does that defeat the purpose?

prettybird · 09/06/2023 16:48

I'm the same @Stokey Blush

Re 16:8 - I just have two meals with maybe a HFLC snack if I feel the need. Smile

Almahart · 09/06/2023 16:56

I'd be in @prettybird , am back on the wagon after a break and would enjoy the company/encouragement

CrystalTits · 09/06/2023 18:57

Yes please @prettybird!

prettybird · 09/06/2023 19:13

Anyone willing to volunteer to be the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Monitor?

....it mostly involves adding/re-alphabetising the weigh-in spreadsheet and resolving any issues when people post in verboten cells. Grin

Mercedesbenz2022 · 09/06/2023 19:27

I will join you all next week , about to go on a ai holiday so will need it when I get back ( even more than now ) x

FinallyHere · 09/06/2023 20:27

Hello @prettybird I'd love to be spreadsheet monitor pleeeease

And thank you for volunteering. I've been around, on the waggon and really miss having LCBC chums to chat about anything and everything low carb high fat related.

prettybird · 09/06/2023 20:29

Thank you so much @FinallyHere - I didn't want to assume Grin

I do like the term "Spreadsheet Monitor" - I think we'll bestow it officially! Star

Gingerwarthog · 09/06/2023 21:18

Need this to keep me on track. Holiday in 7 weeks and would like to lose 5lbs.

prettybird · 09/06/2023 21:31

You should be able to go that @Gingerwarthog Smile

I'll be starting a prep thread tomorrow so you can start early if you want. I'm actually starting the strict 1st 2 weeks tomorrow, so that I can have finished them prior to my dad getting back from SA (arrives back on 23/24 June) and us having a late Father's Day meal with him. We've got him a special bottle of wine babes after Miss South Africa in 1959, with whom he briefly two timed my mother Shock (my mum gave him hell when it was reported in the papers Grin).

Gingerwarthog · 10/06/2023 05:39

Thanks for your support.
The wine sounds great🥳 - your Dad has a sense of humour I hope!
On HRT patches and whatever anyone says it definitely makes losing weight tougher. Easier to stabilise, harder to shift!
At 10 stone 6 - ideal weight 10.1.

Baystard · 10/06/2023 07:37

I'm in @prettybird!

Great timing, I'm at a comfortable weight now and haven't gone completely off the rails for more than the occasional day or two since October but I definitely believe it's time for me to refocus a bit. And I really miss the company here Grin

FinallyHere · 10/06/2023 07:41

Hurrah glad to see you @Baystard and other names new and old.

prettybird · 10/06/2023 07:44

It was dad who told us about the wine Grin. Dh then hunted it out from the importer WineSmile

The story of how dad chose my mum over Miss South Africa is family folklore Smile (my mum was stunning too). She died 11 years ago, from dementia brought on by a cycling accident 6 years before, but dad is now in a relationship with a lovely woman who'd been his best friend's girlfriend at Uni and who knows all about mum and dad. She says they were "the hottest thing on Campus" (dad is very handsome too Wink). It's a long distance relationship as she's still in South Africa (dad reconnected with her at a 50 year reunion there: she was a widow and mum was in a home by then), so he only gets to spend a few months a year with her.

Gingerwarthog · 10/06/2023 12:03

@prettybird
Great story.
That's lovely for your Dad - maintains a connection with SA too.

newtowelsplease · 10/06/2023 13:16

Hurrah for @prettybird and @FinallyHere 🙌

I am definitely in. Thank you for running it, very much looking forward to it. I've managed to shift half a stone it my first week going solo but have a long way to go and I did just cave to the carb cravings and have a flat white 🙈

prettybird · 10/06/2023 13:35

@newtowelsplease - there's a sign up thread that you can add your name to and a Prep thread to help you get into the right headspace and menu plan for the week after next.

newtowelsplease · 10/06/2023 17:01

Thanks @prettybird. I'm overdue a name change so I'm going to do that and then sign up

TheOnlyMrsW · 11/06/2023 14:29

Thanks, definitely signing up..... I was all set to join January's and also the low-spend threads but mum and dad both went into hospital over New Year and it's been a real struggle since.

This one is perfect timing as we're at a festival this weekend and I was already planning a big reset afterwards.........

prettybird · 11/06/2023 21:40

It will be good to see you @TheOnlyMrsW Smile

Oops - posted too soon. Hope you're enjoying the festival and haven't been too affected by thunderstorms!

NotDonna · 11/06/2023 22:51

Yeah!! A Boot Camp! Huge thanks prettybird and finallyhere
I’m off on holidays (AI) on Wed but will do my best! I don’t think I’ve done a boot camp when I’ve not been on hols! This will be my 3rd.
Such a bittersweet story prettybird I’m now thinking you may live up to your username given the stunning/handsome genes.
