Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing

I hope that this has been a good Bootcamp for you all - it's been fairly quiet and peaceful this time around! Never sure if that's a good thing or not, but at least we haven't had any public flouncing!

I know that not everyone joined us in week one, and @AlmaHart has only just started (!) but don't worry - we'll keep this thread going for general chat and ongoing support.

There are also a couple of extra columns on the spreadsheet too.

Thank you for everyone who has posted and supported - and special thanks to @Finallyhere for womanning the spreadsheet

Thank you @SpottyBumPony and @BIWI Shall try those and look forward to anyone else's results

Gratters @mimosa1

It's great isn't it. I'm really building up confidence that this is a WOE that I really could maintain for the rest of my life, for say 99% of the time. Enjoy occasional, and I mean occasional splurges and then get back on the waggon right away.

Welcome to low carb high fat bootcamp, @Stitchinbitchin

Link to the first week of the last bootcamp below.

Lots of newbies and more experienced lob carb high fat bootcampers sharing their experience of following the rules from the beginning.

Enjoy.

Thank you @FinallyHere! No idea were to start or what I'm doing so will have a good read.

pinknsparkly · 29/03/2023 08:21

@StuntNun how on earth do you make such perfectly shaped celeriac chips? I'd love to try them but after almost losing a thumb just hacking one into pieces for celeriac mash I'm worried I'd lose an arm if I tried chips 😂

prettybird · 30/03/2023 09:28

Back from a fabulous skiing holiday. As expected, wasn't able to keep to this WoE: I've put on 5.5lb but at least I'm still in "3 figures" at 11st 9.5lb Smile

My big blow out gourmet meal up on the slopes at our favourite restaurant in Val Thorens turned out to be HFLC comptable: pot au feu with beef cheek and foie gras and the veg in it turned out to be celeriac and carrots and (I think) turnip Smile The semi blow out meal at our favourite restaurant in Courchevel the next day was a DIY steak tartare and dh had the chips but I did have some of dh's salade de la montagnarde (which is a puy lentil and lardons salade in vinaigrette) Smile I'll gloss over the patisserie desserts I had on both occasions Blush

From today I'm back on to the water and FLGV, cheese and saucissons that we brought back from the Alps and fatty meats Grin

I'll be off shopping once I've unpacked and started the mountains of washing.

That looks beautiful @prettybird !

Can I share NSW? I lost a client at work this week, it's a shame because I'd done a lot of work on a big proposal for them, they gave feedback that one of our services was poor - but they've never mentioned it to me so what could I do to fix it! I was upset about that then the TD forwarded me an email with a comment from the MD which I don't think I was meant to see. It wasn't nasty but I think not meant for me.

I definitely wanted to Eat and Binge but kept thinking over some mantras and had a breakthrough that if I drove to get lunch I would find it more difficult to resist (secret eating in my car is A Thing). So I walked instead and stayed in control.

I'm starting to understand that there will be binges in the future, and I can't just stop them. But I can work to averting them one at a time.

prettybird · 30/03/2023 11:46

Good for you @SpottyBumPony Smile

That is a good NSV: learning to recognise and mitigate binge eating impulses. Halo

SpottyBumPony · 30/03/2023 12:16

@StuntNun am I remembering correctly that you fast?

I've been doing IF for a couple of months now, not eating breakfast, because I haven't been hungry in the mornings. I've been thinking about a 24 hours fast, not for calories deficit but to try and learn more about my hunger. With a young son I eat a regular times so that he is eating with company but its not conducive to eating when you feel hungry. I think it would help with learning that I control food, not the other way around.

Do you have any tips? I was planning to eat normally tonight then fast for breakfast and lunch, eating at about 5pm tomorrow. It wouldn't be exactly 24 hours but thats not my priority

FinallyHere · 30/03/2023 13:51

I'm by sure the experienced low carvers will be along to answer fully @SpottyBumPony , meanwhile I'll shard my experience.

I started skipping breakfast a few weeks in to LCHF because I just wasn't hungry.

My next step was to notice how often I ate for non-hunger related reasons, being the time to eat or with people eating and especially 'incase I was hungry lasted and tempted by sweets'

Next, I decided to wait to eat until I really was hungry. I still do this occasionally, in a spirit of curiosity.

Drink all the water.

Nothing for nearly 24 hours and even then, mostly about it being 'time to eat' rather than anything else. Really interesting to feel sometimes tummy rumbling but still mostly 'want to eat' rather than really hungry. Even the thought about eating was much stronger at the usual times to eat.

Fascinating.

I've now settled back into one or twice a day. It's really good to know that I can easily fast for 24hrs so long as I have ready access to water. It's an easy solution for anytime in travelling, or just so busy or even no access to the kind of food I want to eat.

It's also a welcome contrast to my low fat high carb days when just an hour past a mealtime would leave me hangry and grumpy beyond all reason.

FinallyHere · 30/03/2023 13:53

Beautiful pix @prettybird

And those meals sound great. I too notice that the more expensive the restaurant, the more likely they are to cater to HFLC without needing any prompting. So long as I do not start eating the bread 😄

Yes do exactly that. Have dinner then aim for 24 hours before your next meal. You may even find that you don't want dinner and you can get in a 36-hour fast until breakfast (or lunch) the next day. There's a thread in the Fasting topic for combining IF with Bootcamp although it's been very quiet lately.

SpottyBumPony · 30/03/2023 17:06

Thanks, I'll give it a go and report back.

Baystard · 30/03/2023 19:28

@SpottyBumPony I often fast for 24 hours, very occasionally 36 hours. The more regularly you do it the easier it becomes.

I find it much easier to fast if I'm out than if I'm at home. So in your shoes @SpottyBumPony I'd take DC off to the park with his picnic lunch and not take anything for myself (other than water Grin) so as not to be near the food cupboards when the lunchtime urge-that-isnt-hunger hits.

I had a busy work day today so I worked through lunch. Big salad of salad coleslaw and lots of cheese for supper because family were having pizza.

SpottyBumPony · 31/03/2023 17:43

I did it! It think it's the first time I've ever decided not to eat. I was a bit hungry at lunchtime and felt lots of expectation that i would have lunch. From about 4 I started thinking about dinner, I've just eaten so was a little over 24 hours

Smorgs · 01/04/2023 09:02

Looks gorgeous @prettybird. I bet your enjoying a new level of fitness too after being at that altitude - Val Thorens is really high.

Great nsv @spottybumpony - well done on planning around that potential pitfall. Secret car eating is also A Thing here too.

Interested to here about IF and am wondering about trying it too. I've really struggled to stay on plan for the last few weeks. Alcohol crept back in, then a few carbs, then snacks. Posting about my tendency to lose sight of goals really helped me be accountable last time so I'm doing it again and restating my intentions as it's a new month. So it's back to boot camp eating rules for me and I'm aiming to loose another stone by the end of May. Onwards 💪

FinallyHere · 01/04/2023 12:06

Sounds as if you smashed it @SpottyBumPony well done

I'm a bit of a one for the all or nothing approach, too @Smorgs and struggle to moderate on anything really. Any single indulgence invariably leads me to want more. Sigh. Good luck with the reset.

SpottyBumPony · 01/04/2023 18:01

Oh. My. Gosh

Air fryer roast plum, sprinkled with cinnamon and clotted cream. I'm in heaven

Baystard · 01/04/2023 20:21

Oh @SpottyBumPony that sounds wonderful!

OldandTired66 · 03/04/2023 10:38

Really interesting reading about expectations of a meal even when not hungry. I'm so hard wired for meals I find the concept of missing one really hard. A few months before bootcamp, I was trying to follow a 12 week cbt based weight loss plan with tasks to achieve each week. Basically portion control and calorie counting. Week 5, I think, was skip lunch on at least one day and just record how it feels. Well, that was the end of that. I was completely outraged and almost reduced to tears at the very idea. My reaction really shocked me and made me feel weight loss was hopeless. I'm not quite there yet but now happy to delay meals if I'm out or busy, without getting anxious or 'hangry'. Lost another pound this week so still on track despite a big night out and a funeral, now well under 15 stone and eyeing up the 200lb barrier 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻.

Baystard · 07/04/2023 17:34

How are lovely bootcampers getting on this weekend? Beautiful weather, much needed - good for the soul.

I've been KOKO bootcamp light. @BIWI might not fully approve of quite how many almonds or 90% dark chocolate I've had (or of the fig I had with cheese yesterday) but on the whole I'm trundling along quite happily eating ALL the cheese Grin

SpottyBumPony · 07/04/2023 18:44

I'm good thanks @Baystard . Mmm figs, my parents had a big fig tree, happy memories of gluts of juicy ripe figs with crunchy seeds 🥰

I'm doing the Easter Bank Hol classic ... DIY lol. Dh sanded our spare room, I've washed it down, painted the ceiling and two coats above the picture rails. I'm hoping it looks fine tomorrow so I can crack on with lining paper on the lower half.

I could murder a pizza right now but am resisting

SpottyBumPony · 07/04/2023 18:44

I'd also love a glass of wine right now but we have none. Sad times

Baystard · 07/04/2023 18:57

That sounds like you got alot done in a day @SpottyBumPony, I'm envious of your discipline and/or motivation! It'll be lovely having it done for the summer, well done you (and for resisting pizza!).

FinallyHere · 07/04/2023 23:28

I'm impressed with the DIY.

Pretty lady day today, with hairdresser, and a mammoth click&collect session tomorrow. Looking for some light weigh trousers for the summer, I've ordered loads of trousers and will try them all on tomorrow.

We shall see whether any are any good. Have lived in high waist leather look leggings over the winter. Hoping to find something equally versatile for summer, fingers crossed in tomorrows batch.

In other news, I'm KOKO with Bootcamp light. Still feeling good on it, too. Why more can we ask?

OldandTired66 · 08/04/2023 10:27

Morning all, lovely day here. Chicken is in the slow cooker, lawnmower is out, waiting for the dew to dry off for the first mow of the season and I'm KOKO. Went for a coffee with friends yesterday and had NO CAKE. Friends remarked on weightloss, so made my day.
