Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its final outing

I hope that this has been a good Bootcamp for you all - it's been fairly quiet and peaceful this time around! Never sure if that's a good thing or not, but at least we haven't had any public flouncing!

I know that not everyone joined us in week one, and @AlmaHart has only just started (!) but don't worry - we'll keep this thread going for general chat and ongoing support.

There are also a couple of extra columns on the spreadsheet too.

Thank you for everyone who has posted and supported - and special thanks to @Finallyhere for womanning the spreadsheet

@OhCobblers this won't be a magic bullet but you definitely should be drinking more water. There's usually a table in one of the prep threads indicating how much depending on your weight. It really makes a difference.

Baystard · 16/03/2023 11:06

I've normally used the diet doctor recipe but just use whole eggs. www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/the-keto-bread

LC fudge is basically butter, almond butter and 90% dark chocolate - it's not very sweet and being so high fat isn't too moreish.

StuntNun · 16/03/2023 12:26

@Almahart the Seriously Low Carb bread is okay but bare in mind that it is extremely processed and it isn't that low carb. I think it's great but it would be an occasional treat rather than a daily sandwich. I buy the bread mix and make it in the bread maker so I can slice it myself into nice thick slices, then freeze them individually. I also like the low carb bread rolls. I haven't been keen on their other stuff such as the brownies. The pizza bases are good but the ready-made frozen pizzas are pretty disappointing.

Not a bad LC day today.

L- mushroom omlette, creamy coffee and a few almonds.
D- med veg traybake with feta, cheddar and chorizo. Pudding was melted LC choc fudge over clotted cream.
No snacks but after pudding I also had a leftover mince pie from the freezer that I'd promised myself since Christmas (I was very restrained over Christmas and instead froze a few mince pies to treat myself to later).

Hello lovely people, I'm been missing in action as far as this thread goes.

Predictably, I'm back because I could really do with a bit of support. I've been KOKO but an event I was looking forward to yesterday was cancelled at very short notice, due to a horrid family emergency. Of course, we all said take whatever time you need, we can do this some other time.

Instead of a great day, I had a day with not much planned and predictably, I didn't do anything nor did I really get anything done.

and I'd taken a days holiday in Friday to get all the usual stuff done which I could have saved if I had known.

One thing I re-discovered is how easy it is to start thinking about food when at a bit of a loose end

I didn't actually fall off the waggon but I did eat more than I really needed to, for fun and because yes I was a bit bored.

I'm at the stage (more than a year in) where I really do need to start keeping an eye on portion sizes. I've loved being able to eat whatever I wanted.

This new focus on eat a bit, I can always have more if I still want it, when I probably won't really want it

It's more effort for me I'd love to hear how everyone else is getting on, mostly because I'm missing the company of hear what everyone is up to

Tell me lovely people how things are going for you.

Baystard · 19/03/2023 11:47

Hello @FinallyHere yes I've succumbed to a bit of boredom eating too - I've had to stay up later than normal recently and I've found myself late-night-grazing (and not always virtuously). Last night I finally succumbed to toast but about 45 mins later had breathtaking abdominal pain for about half an hour. I think it was a gallstone rather than caused by what I'd eaten but I'm hoping it at least puts me off toast for a while!

I'm trying to reset today so I'm making smoked haddock mornay for lunch (no mash) and hopefully that will both fill me up and cheer me up.

Skiphopbump · 19/03/2023 11:58

@FinallyHere i took a week break and then started back on Monday- feel like I’m just plodding along. I have kept up the swimming I started a short while ago and am still managing 5 or 6 days a week but yesterday I swam faster then usual and started paying for it a few hours later, am glad today is my rest day!

Is another bootcamp planned?

FinallyHere · 19/03/2023 12:31

Good to hear from you both @Baystard and @Skiphopbump

and sorry to read that you too find yourselves using eating as a welcome distraction

I'm always bootcamping these days, so keep to the same eating plan between sessions. I'm hoping there will be another one, shall wait to hear

Meanwhile, thank you and I'm taking the colossal hint to jump up, stop playing on MN and get on and do something interesting.

Have a lovely day everyone.

SpottyBumPony · 19/03/2023 16:03

I've also had a rough food week, to those who have made a big loss and maintained, will always be a battle against a desire to eat 'treat food' ?

In fact I wonder if it is actually even possible for someone who has been fat all their life to reach and stay at a healthy weight. I'm not talking about those who were ~thin~ healthy but put weight on after children or menopause but if you've been fat since a kid or a teen.

I don't know... I did LC last year and it was so much easier than this time round

OldandTired66 · 19/03/2023 16:26

Just about koko-ing, but sliding into bad habits like the odd sweet potato chip, adding carrots and peas to my meals, mindless snacking on cheese when not really hungry. I need a reset few days of strict bootcamp. I think I will dig out the week 1 posts and read through all the threads to give myself a motivating boost while awaiting the next BC. Don't want to backslide!

Baystard · 19/03/2023 16:59

That's a really good idea @OldandTired66. I'm supposed to still be bootcamping - until this week, apart from one or two days at Christmas, I've been fairly consistently on the wagon for 5 months now and feeling/looking well on it. I've lost my way a bit this week though and need to get back to it. The only consolation this week is that I've not had any alcohol nor had much processed food - the contraband I've eaten has all been home made!

@SpottyBumPony I've lost and more or less maintained and find the WOE is sustainable if I get enough sleep. However I am vulnerable to things like work deadlines or family problems which result in not sleeping well, and this is the case this week.

I'll post what I eat tomorrow, for accountability. I daren't write down what I've eaten today.

FinallyHere · 19/03/2023 17:15

This appeared on my social media feed today. It really resonated with me, to describe what boot camping does for me. Going off piste does just seem to awaken my appetite for eating more off plan.

SpottyBumPony · 19/03/2023 17:16

Sorry I've had my first alcohol this year with some mothers day prosecco and I'm a bit morose

Lalalalalaaaa · 20/03/2023 04:03

Hope you're feeling better this morning @SpottyBumPony!

In terms of your question, it presumably is possible (it must be!) but it's going to be much harder work as you're looking to change the habits of a life time, not just a short period.

I'm similar in that (outside of periods when I actually had an eating disorder) I was never one of the slim ones. When I do lose weight (and I lost about 20kg about 4 years ago) I end up putting it back on (and more) because my mindset hasn't actually changed. I can be disciplined when I'm actively trying to lose weight, but find it harder long term.

That said, I have a long way to go (over 30kg) and so I'm just not worrying about this now. I don't think it's worth the headspace - even if I only manage to keep off 5kg, then I'm 5kg healthier and so that's worth while.

(Thought I'd join the thread after Bootcamp was finished! They got too busy for me whilst the camp was ongoing).

HungryHazelEyes · 20/03/2023 05:07

@SpottyBumPony I have been eating this way since 2018, on and off, but mostly on. The cravings go away and everything seems way too sweet (if you crave sweet things). The more carbs you let creep in, the harder it is to stick to it.
I've just this weekend reached the lowest weight I've been since 2020 (I changed jobs and was less active). I'm less than 10lbs away from my goal weight at this point (I reached it in Oct 2018). I will always eat this way (other than alcohol and the occasional slip for special occasions - if I feel like it, and I generally don't). It's literally a WOE for me for life.

LadyBiker · 20/03/2023 08:41

Morning all. Another good week, no weight loss, just the same as last week. Really getting used to this WOE and not tempted by the dreaded chocolate. MIL has bought us Easter eggs, will donate mine. Also passed up sourdough this week, had pate on cucumber slices instead.😇

Goodyetalso · 20/03/2023 08:44

I’m back on the low carb wagon after a good break from it and have a quick question:

do any of you find that the week 3 and 4 stall hits earlier for you (in week 2)? This time I lost lots by the end of week 1 then nothing at all in week 3 and now half way through week 3 and still nothing. I have a feeling that this is what usually happens for me but I’ve never made a note of it when I’ve done it before so not sure.

Sorry, that should say nothing at all in week 2 - basically no loss at all since day 7 and now on day 18.

LadyBiker · 20/03/2023 08:46

@HungryHazelEyes that's great that you are only 10lbs off your goal weight, I am too. Feels great to be able to fit into old clothes again, although naked I am rather saggy now despite doing weights and lots of swimming.

Baystard · 20/03/2023 15:16

Monday on the wagon.

B- fasting
L- melted cheese with coleslaw (cheese toastie without the toast!). 2 cups of tea with milk.

Dinner will be roast chicken and veg, followed by clotted cream and melted dark chocolate.

Glorianna · 20/03/2023 15:31

Hi all, inspired by a few posts above, I am going back into LCBC mode. I've also increased my portion sizes for breakfast, lunch and dinner so that I'm not snacking as much.

Also, I've upped my water intake from 2.5l, as I think my body may work best from having 3.5 - 4 litres a water a day. Does anyone find this well?

Hi, I my stall hit in week 7.

StuntNun · 20/03/2023 15:50

@SpottyBumPony your tastes change over time the longer you eat this way (I'll be ten years on Bootcamp in June.) I have a couple of "treat foods" that if find hard to resist cheesecake but generally I'm happy to stay low carb.

pinknsparkly · 20/03/2023 16:54

Hi all, I'm not sure how relevant my experience is, given that I'm not sure how much of it is down to the LC WOE and how much is pregnancy hormones settling down now I'm in week 16. But I've found the last week or so it's been much easier to avoid the sugar/carb snacks that are constantly hanging around at work! I'm hoping this will continue as it makes the WOE so much easier when I'm capable of walking past them without having an internal fight with myself every time I see them😁
