Week 8 - May Low Carb Bootcamp - the last week!

Morning all Flowers

So we come to the last week. It's funny how 8 weeks can seem such a long time as well as being over so quickly!

Some evident transgressions because of Father's Day or, as I prefer to call it, life. One of the difficult things about successful weight loss is that you have to work at it to keep at it - as @ditavonteesed talks about on the last thread.

Anyway, we have one more week - still time to shed a pesky pound or too.

Good luck everyone.

I hope, very much, that it isn't Covid ditavonteesed - and that you're feeling better very soon.

(Oh, and just to say I won't be around very much this week as DH and I are off to Porto for a few days. A much delayed Christmas present.)

Woohoo! The stones on the scales started with a 9 this morning. I must've looked ridiculous doing a wee happy dance in my dressing gown and baffies.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 23/06/2022 08:57

@Justmuddlingalong
well done !
that’s a great feeling

venusandmars · 23/06/2022 17:43

Lots of positive posts - makes me smile Smile

B - creamy coffee
L - cheese, avocado, salad
D - sausage casserole with spinach, broad beans, courgetti

APerfectlyGoodName · 23/06/2022 18:56

@Justmuddlingalong anytime I see a new low - I think I have to post this on BC, they will understand!

I saw 160(.8) today. Such joy. 😁
It is motivating me to shift the .8 by Monday.

ditavonteesed · 23/06/2022 18:57

Woo hoo at the happy dance. That's fantastic.

ditavonteesed · 23/06/2022 18:59

Also I'm not hungry today at all, I made a prawn salad for lunch with halloumi and threw half of it away, just made chicken and veg and going to throw most of it away. I think it must be the heat. Gingers aren't built for this weather.

SummerSazz · 23/06/2022 20:08

Well done @Justmuddlingalong it's a great feeling and good luck @APerfectlyGoodName for getting into the 159's.

I got down to 10.single digits today which also feels great. 1 more pesky pound to 2 stones but I fear this may be a way off as I'm out tonight and the next 3 nights 🙈

I also forgot to eat today until 5pm as so busy at work. Agree it's a heat thing @ditavonteesed

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 23/06/2022 20:27

Hello all, just checking in

L: cheese, tomato, spinach & red onion omelette
D: homemade chicken korma, more spinach and cauliflower rice

We got the report back from all DS1s assessment today so he now has the official diagnosis of ASD. We knew it ourselves for a really long time but I still got upset when told as I just am worried about what lies ahead for him. Also got told what he would benefit from vs what is available which is just depressing

Ultimately, he is still the same lovely lad who we wouldn't change for the world, but I feel a bit more anxious for his future tonight. He is only 5.

Very tempted by some wine. Will see what DH thinks

Lougle · 23/06/2022 21:25

Well done to all the losers! I'm steadily dropping - 62.5kg (137.8lb) today.

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore I'm sorry it came as a shock - I remember getting DD1's first higher rate DLA award when she was 3 and thinking "Oh my goodness, they see it too". She's 16 now and she has changed as she's grown, and her 'normal' is just part of her.

B - Leftover casserole veg with grated cheese
L - salad with goats cheese
D - home made 99.9% beef burger (mince seasoned with salt and pepper, shaped into a burger). Roasted celery, leek, mushrooms, peppers. 25g clotted cream and raspberries.

Fluids: 2 cups of tea, 3.75l water.

FinallyHere · 23/06/2022 21:33

forgot to eat today until 5pm

This happens to me @SummerSazz

Especially when I am enjoying work, I can easily work right through, no feeling of hunger. I do try to get my water drunk early on to avoid having to get up too often overnight.

If I'm bored or not sure what to do, I find myself thinking I can't possibly work until I've had a meal.

I've found IF pretty comfortable, since I don't remember ever feeling real hunger. Not even sure what that feels like as opposed to the hangry crash after too many carbs.

Astonishing, I'm learning so much from Bootcamp, that you all very kindly.

FinallyHere · 23/06/2022 21:34

Congratulations @Lougle on the new low.

Newlease · 23/06/2022 22:19

Well done @Lougle !! that's impressive. I do have a work do on next Thurs, hoping I would loose a bit more before that.
For those who had finished their exams, enjoy the days after the hardwork :💐
L: Egg and Spinach
D: roast chicken with lots of veg
2.5 litres of water, one mug coffee

comfortablyfrumpy · 23/06/2022 22:39

Well done, you bunch of losers 😁😁😁

Well, I should hit the "1.5 stones since Easter" point on Monday. I am currently lighter than I have been for, I reckon, a couple of years. I am going to aim for another stone and see how I feel. 1 1/2 stones would see me pretty much at pre- child weight (eldest is at Uni so it has taken me a while 😂).

ditavonteesed · 24/06/2022 07:04

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore dd1 was 11 when she got diagnosed with asd because girls mask differently, I remember being so worried. She is hopefully (everything crossed) going to uni to study law in September. She has a partner she has been with for 6 months, goes out clubbing (just needs a bit more organising and to be on hand in case pick ups needed). She's going to stay at home for uni as she doesn't think communal living is for her. Not a weird stealth brag just hoping I can give you some hope. Things are harder for her and for us at times but life is still there for the grabbing.
Dd2 has finished school which we are celebrating so much after years of school refusal and anxiety.

Life just feels a little be lighter here this morning.
@Lougle I'm loving those numbers, your inspiring me.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 24/06/2022 07:59

Thank you @ditavonteesed that is very positive. I think I was just a bit scared re the unknown but we don't know what is ahead for any of our children... which is the scary but of being a parent

StuntNun · 24/06/2022 08:55

The Seriously Low Carb Company still haven't resolved my complaint. I thought they had a good reputation for dealing with complaints. My order arrived two days late with warm pizzas and mouldy bread. Not impressed.

StuntNun · 24/06/2022 08:57

How old is your DS1 @IveNeverTriedThisBefore ? My DS1 was diagnosed with autism at age 8. He's now 19 and he's just finished his first year away at university. There's a lot more awareness and support now than even ten years ago.

Baystard · 24/06/2022 09:23

Good morning

A busy few days with work but trying, only partially successfully, to KOKO. However I dropped 1lb on Monday and I'm amazed to have moved about another 2lb since then. That's 8lb since the start of this boot camp and I think around 30lb since Christmas so whilst I feel frustrated that it's got more difficult recently I know I also need to be a bit kinder to myself.

B- black coffee
L- leftover veggies from yesterday with cheese sauce
D- fried feta and salad.

NSV - sorted out some clothes today. Four pairs of too-baggy trousers off to the spare room cupboard and a skirt has come back out of the spare room cupboard because I can now not only get it on past my thighs but I can now fasten the zip!

ditavonteesed · 24/06/2022 09:47

@Baystard not spare room, charity shop!

Baystard · 24/06/2022 13:07

I really hear you @ditavonteesed. I did that before - lost the weight, cleared out the clothes. Unfortunately then I did put some weight back on and ended up not only feeling fat and horrid but having nothing to wear that fitted me and feeling awful about it. For now I'm going to hang onto them, hope not to need them, but take the pressure off. It was very exciting to find the skirt though, I thought I'd already binned it in disgust 😂

venusandmars · 24/06/2022 19:14

@Lougle I notice you are (in general) drinking more liquid that I might expect for your weight - I'm going to follow your example.

Lougle · 24/06/2022 20:10

@venusandmars yes, I'm really trying to up it in the day time particularly.

I've just been to McDonalds and had the saddest salad ever. 2 slices of tomatoes and 3 slices of cucumber. Bit of chicken and a transparent slice of bacon. Unfortunately it was DD1's choice as she left school today.

Lougle · 24/06/2022 20:31

B - Greek yoghurt and clotted cream with raspberries
L - vegetable omelette (celery, courgette, pepper, mushroom, leek)
D - McDonalds sad, sad, salad. Spiky lettuce, 2 slices tomato, 3 slices cucumber, 2 slices red onion, 2 bits of chicken, 1 tiny translucent bacon slice.

Fluids: 2 cups of tea. 3.8l water so far. Probably another 0.75l tonight.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 24/06/2022 22:53

Hello all just a quick check in before bed..

Travelling for work today..
L: Cheese, tomato, spinach red onion
D: m&s picnic.... some cheese, salmon, tzatziki, olives. Also got some no sugar/ no sweetener water which was OK. Not sweet at all and meant I wasnt have g&t
didn't do to great on water today as was on long bus journey so must try harder tomorrow

Newlease · 25/06/2022 17:33

just checking in: I had a loong fasting on Friday, for the first time ever. It was sports day at school, so plan was to eat eggs before leaving, but work was unusually crazy due to working short day, didn't get to grab anything other than cream coffee, had that on my way, but actually only got around to eat yogurt after 5:30pm. Felt so good, and happy that I didn't feel hungry. Not sure, I will be able to do a planned one though ;) , but being busy really helped this time. Had my 2Ls water after reaching home, weather helps. Today we were out for few stuff, so ended having burger at some restaurant, with out buns, looked very sad, compared to people on next table :(
should cook something proper for next few days, I hate having to think/cook every evening and constantly running out of stuff to eat! two more days for you all, for final weigh in. I will be doing another week, to complete my 8 weeks.
