Week 8 - May Low Carb Bootcamp - the last week!

Morning all Flowers

So we come to the last week. It's funny how 8 weeks can seem such a long time as well as being over so quickly!

Some evident transgressions because of Father's Day or, as I prefer to call it, life. One of the difficult things about successful weight loss is that you have to work at it to keep at it - as @ditavonteesed talks about on the last thread.

Anyway, we have one more week - still time to shed a pesky pound or too.

Good luck everyone.

I hope, very much, that it isn't Covid ditavonteesed - and that you're feeling better very soon.

(Oh, and just to say I won't be around very much this week as DH and I are off to Porto for a few days. A much delayed Christmas present.)

Hi all,

Today for me was:

IF till lunch
L: chicken and mayo with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado and olive oil
D: haloumi salad with grilled veg, lettuce olive oil and leftover of the chicken mayo on side
4L water drank

Dinner was much later tonight than usual due to work schedule and I defo noticed it. Did a lot more 'picking' at food as I was getting dinner ready

I will defo be here for 25th July @BIWI!

pinknsparkly · 21/06/2022 22:36

Thanks everyone! Today was marginally better than yesterday in the sense that I didn't burst into tears at any point! But I did find it hard working with a pregnant colleague today and tried to avoid all conversations about babies....

@BIWI - I was vaguely aware that gestational diabetes could come back that early but didn't think it actually would! Particularly as I was diet controlled for the whole of my previous pregnancy (and was diagnosed at 16 weeks) and I've lost a fair amount of weight since then!

I'd definitely be up for joining another bootcamp. I seem to have mostly stopped losing weight, but am losing inches (that, or my clothes are enlarging in the wash which seems unlikely!). I've lost a grand total of 0.6lb this bootcamp 😆

venusandmars · 21/06/2022 23:22

Forgive me @BIWI for I have sinned... Tempura oysters with soy, ginger, sesame... But one portion (6 oysters) shared with dc. Was

B - avocado
L - tempura oysters cod with sea vegetables and champagne sauce; hake with langoustine and vietnamese broth, daikon radish, bean sprouts; peppermint tea
D - a bit of cheese

venusandmars · 21/06/2022 23:23

Hmmm, wrong link.. THIS was the restaurant.

Ollieharriet · 21/06/2022 23:49

Hi all. Stayed the same this week so going to keep going till my hols in mid- July. Back in the office full time so need to be more organised. A few glasses of wine at the weekend definitely impedes my loss so going to skip it for a few weeks. Enjoy the hols @BIWI and thanks for all the support. This is my first BC but will definitely join the next one in August.

Lougle · 22/06/2022 07:06

I forgot to post my food last night:

B - greek yoghurt with raspberries and blueberries
L - skip
D - chicken casserole (Swede, celeriac, courgette, pepper, celery, chicken thighs)

Fluids: 6 cups of tea (went to Costa with a friend and their cups are like 2x ours). 4.3l water.

Weight today is a bootcamp low of 62.6 kg (138lb) bringing my loss up to 15lb.

Lougle · 22/06/2022 07:18

Actually I've looked back on MyFitnessPal and I'm the lowest I've been since some point in early 2019. I was 59.5kg at the end of 2018 and 64.5kg in July 2019, so perhaps March 2019 ish I was this weight.

Baystard · 22/06/2022 07:19

Well done @Lougle that's over a stone. You've stayed the distance really impressively this BC and it's paid off.
I've lost a bit of momentum lately and STS after an initial loss so I'm only 5lb down this BC, I should have followed your example!

Livelongandprosper · 22/06/2022 08:39

@pinknsparkly so sorry to hear your news xx

SummerSazz · 22/06/2022 11:10

I've had a 2lb whoosh today so also down to my lowest in 6yrs +

I didn't eat very differently yesterday and did v free steps as in a meeting all day. However I did drink ALL water so that's a focus for going forward!

readyfortheboot · 22/06/2022 11:59

Hi hope you don't mind me chiming in - I've been lurking and am on my second week - will join the new one from proper start date in July.

@Lougle I think you struggled at one point with staying the same weight - are you able to see what was going wrong or was it just a blip then a whoosh do you think ? Apologies if it wasn't you in that situation but I am a similar starting g weight to you and your loss is what I hope to achieve.

Lougle · 22/06/2022 12:56

@readyfortheboot not really.* *@BIWI suggested that I cut out dairy for a while, which helped.

venusandmars · 22/06/2022 13:06

Well done @Lougle I also think I recall you being a bit panicky in the early weeks about small weight increases. I really hope that your story and determination can help others who feels similarly concerned at the start of a new regime worrying about eating butter, or struggling to change habits. I think you're the new bootcamp posterchild Grin

What are you plans for the next phase? [just being nosy] would you like to lose more? Are you going to continue with what you're currently doing?

Lougle · 22/06/2022 13:06

I should say that I reintroduced it the following week and it was fine again. I think that what has really helped me it to see that actually I was eating much bigger portions than I needed to. For instance, my goats cheese for a salad was two slices...maybe 100g. Gradually I've cut that down and seen that even a thin slice (probably 30g) satisfies me and that I didn't need that extra 70g.

venusandmars · 22/06/2022 13:07

I had a busy morning and genuinely felt no hunger.

B - nothing (except rooibos tea and water)
L - cooked chicken, avocado, salad
D - spinach omelette

venusandmars · 22/06/2022 13:17

And YES! eating good fat does help us to regulate and manage our appetite and therefore mindfully reduce portion sizes. Years into this and my dh still doesn't understand that I can just stop eating halfway through my plate of dinner.

On another topic, I listened to radio 4 programme about ultra processed food you can find it here Fascinating! Especially about artificial emulsifiers.

I know that people find alternatives to 'carb' food - the SLC bread, or my favourite the Schneiderbrot. But I see that mainly people here are not using processed keto alternatives. We are eating a diet that is about REAL food products, we are eating a wide range of veg with meat or cheese and using fat and herbs and spices to make it all taste marvellous. What's not to love? Even if you do not lose a pound of eight in 10 weeks, eating all this good stuff is good.

Newlease · 22/06/2022 18:51

@pinknsparkly so sorry to hear your news! @ditavonteesed hope exams are going to be done this week and stress free home for you and dd.

I have weighed in today as well, just wanted to check and I am at 63.8kg. A bit excited now. I have seen this last BC as well( and went to see my parents after three years and three weeks away- I have put all that back ON- no regrets though, no idea when I will get to go again). I've noticed that the body changed massively and I can wear a lot of clothes that I couldn't wear in April.
Still lots to loose, I was 54.4 on July 2018- which is kind of my aim thats very diffcult to achieve from where I am now !! So setting a smaller goal -under 60kg for now
B: black coffee
L: Chicken, 1/2avocado, green pepper, lettuce combo
d: Steak with whatever leaves left in fridge
Had two big spoon of yogurt with clotted cream- helps my body cool down from the heat, while I want to eat the oreo milk shake, made for kids

Lougle · 22/06/2022 21:28

Well done @Newlease !!

Finishing up:
B - Greek yoghurt, clotted cream, a few remaining berries.
L - salad. Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, goats cheese, olive oil vinaigrette.
D - belly pork, green beans, cabbage, with butter.

Fluids: 2 cups of tea. 4.5l water.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 22/06/2022 21:28

Hello all, just checking in...

IF till lunch
L: Chicken caesar salad - was out for lunch with friends who I hadn't seen in a really long time, it was great. Didnt want to draw attention to woe so didn't ask for no croutons but when it came they had forgot to add them so winning... 😆
D: chilli made with pork belly, yoghurt, avo & tomato salad, cheese on top

It was my bday today and had asked DH not to get cake. It is his bday next week so we are going for a nice dinner together next weekend
But our kids were waiting for mama's bday cake all day long and I didn't want to disappoint... they were so excited. So send DH for colin calvin caterpillar cake. Had a very small sliver

First time I had sugar/flour in 8 wks... it tastes so artifical and sweet. Wasn't worth the cals/carbs but it was a nice moment with the kids who were made up! (they are 5, 3 &1)

Lucienandjean · 22/06/2022 22:19

Feeling I'll today - a weird headache and a bit queasy. I've upped my electrolytes today in case that's why.

B: fasting
L: seeded crackers and pate, tomato, and a lump of cheese
D: salad, salmon, prawns and a boiled egg with mayo.
S: a few strawberries and clotted cream.

Lots of water. 😬

Mercedesbenz2022 · 23/06/2022 02:30

Belated happy birthday @IveNeverTriedThisBefore
hope you had a lovely day

TheOnlyMrsW · 23/06/2022 06:34

@ditavonteesed hope your DD's have been coping ok with exams and heat, we had a mini meltdown yesterday but last one today thank goodness!!!!!
@pinknsparkly so very sorry to hear your news 💐
Off to the south coast this afternoon for a festival, no idea what the food options will be but we're in a Premier Inn so at least can have a reasonable breakfast (DD is more excited about this I think, she loves a Premier Inn breakfast 🤣)
Haven't lost much this bootcamp (it's my first) but have loved the food choices and will be sticking to it. Am tempted by an egg fast next week as we're going away the week after and my bikinis haven't seen the light of day for 3 years!!!!!
@pink

Lougle · 23/06/2022 06:35

Ooh happy birthday @IveNeverTriedThisBefore !

ditavonteesed · 23/06/2022 06:48

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore happy belated birthday.

@TheOnlyMrsW last one today, hoping for a return to some sort of peace.
@SummerSazz congratulations on the whoosh.
Night shifts done for the week and I'm actually on days next week which will be a nice change. Pt session this morning. I'm half way through my sessions now and I'm thinking I definitely want to get another 10 so I'd better get saving.

My weight has behaved much better this week I'm now 3 lbs off the top of my target range and I feel a lot less bloated.
The next boot camp will be perfect timing for me, it's straight after my 2 weeks leave and the festival in the park at the bottom of the road. I'm going to keep on till then anyway as I want to wear not so many clothes to the festival.
