Week 3 - May 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - moving on to Light?

BIWI · 16/05/2022 08:08

Good morning!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So today you have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, if you wish - which means you can re-introduce some fruit, some nuts/seeds and some alcohol. Note the use of the word 'some'!

If you wish, you can also now introduce/re-introduce intermittent fasting - most people drop breakfast, but it's up to you how you want to do this. @StuntNun has a thread about how to combine fasting with low carb for anyone who is interested in this approach.

You can, if you wish, remain on Bootcamp, if it suits you and it's working for you. Alternatively you can adopt a hybrid - so Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whichever route you decide upon, good luck! Flowers

A reminder re weeks 3 & 4

It is very, very common for weight loss to slow or stop in weeks 3 and 4. If this happens to you, know that it's not just you! It's also very unlikely to be something you're doing, or not doing, if you've lost in the previous two weeks.

Just KOKO and things will get going again for you.

It is, though, also something to bear in mind if you do decide to switch to Bootcamp Light.

Intermittent fasting, so rooibos tea for breakfast.

L - green velvet soup, boiled egg mashed with butter
D - slow cooked lamb casserole with FLGV, cauliflower cheese.

ZiggZagg · 16/05/2022 08:28

Morning! Just checking in with a 1lb weight loss. Busy day today so will be IF for however long I can manage. Will take a couple of boiled eggs, salad and cheese with me though so I don't fall off the wagon if I get peckish throughout the day Smile

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 16/05/2022 08:32

I've lost another quarter of a pound.

I'm struggling to eat three meals a day so will likely just have brunch and dinner with a small snack mid afternoon. This seems to be my natural pattern.

Brunch: cheese omelette, courgette, shallots.

Dinner: pork, sweetheart cabbage, pepper and shallots. A few blueberries and cream afterwards.

Snack of celery, cream cheese and peanut butter if necessary.

Lougle · 16/05/2022 08:35

Thank you ☺️

Rshard · 16/05/2022 08:45

Morning, thanks for the new weekly thread @BIWI

2 pesky pounds gone for me, happy with that. You sound a natural IF’er @BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation . Planning to do it this week too and sticking to strict bootcamp in the week and lite at the weekend.

wishing everyone a happy Monday and a great week!

heliosfountain · 16/05/2022 08:57

Well done on the losses everyone!

I'm starting the week well with a 2.1kg weight loss from last Monday, totalling a 3.3kg weight loss so far since the start of BC, which is just over 7lbs. Yahoo! However I'm away for a special birthday weekend this weekend with one of my DC, meals out planned and staying with family so I'm planning to stay strict BC until Saturday morning then be as good as I can be until Monday evening (won't be home to weigh in until Tuesday morning).

I had an odd eating day yesterday, another busy day - homemade coleslaw for lunch then chicken fajitas/sour cream/avocado salsa/cheese for tea and not enough water. I should have planned better but it was a topsy turvy day with people popping in.

I have a funeral today and complicated childcare arrangements, which mean I can't do my usual TRE and eat around 1pm. I will see if I can hold out until I'm home at around 3/4pm and take a couple of boiled eggs in my bag!

@BIWI, thanks for the new thread!

@Lougle, please don't be disheartened, I know only too well how this feels. KOKO and water, water, water!

@Frenchpoodle, I've attached a photo of the blueberry piles in 90% melted Lindt (with mint leaves), something I (stupidly) wouldn't have thought of doing. A big treat!

BIWI · 16/05/2022 09:08

Can I just remind any of you who might be disheartened with a small loss, or gain, that the scales aren't the be-all and end-all of Bootcamp! If you haven't already, then take your measurements. You can also monitor your progress by finding an item of clothing that's just a bit too tight right now, and once a week try it on again.

Measurements/clothes fitting is a much more realistic way to see how you're doing.

Hi all - well done on the losses and just to say KOKO to those who didnt; I really know how fed-up you can feel when you are trying your hardest and not losing. I expect to run into this feeling at some stage too

I've lost 3lbs this week so happy with that and also lost 1" of my waist, which I'm even happier about. I'm a few days behind everyone else but on Friday I think I will add in raspeberries again as I have missed them. Bought some 90% Lindt choc for the weekend but I think I will stay off the booze for a while. My ginger/lime/ sparkling water mix was quite enjoyable at the weekend

Food for today is
B: 2 hard boiled eggs and rollitos
L: Spinach, 1/2 avo, tomatoes, cucumber, tuna with homemade pesto & oil dressing
D: Low carb lasagne. Interested to see how this will taste

Am 1.5L down already

UnOeufIsEnough · 16/05/2022 09:13

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI!

3.6lb off, which I'm really pleased with. 10.6lb off on two weeks!

BIWI · 16/05/2022 09:14

Brilliant @UnOeufIsEnough!

Hi everyone. Down another 2lbs this week so half a stone so far.

Upontherooftops · 16/05/2022 09:57

I've lost 800grams. I am disappointed as I have a lot to lose (5 stone) and really thought I'd lose at least a kilo/2lbs a week, given how far I have to go. If this is what I'm like at this stage, how slow will it be when I have less to lose. Oh well, have had my 2 eggs for breakfast, fingers crossed for this week.

BIWI · 16/05/2022 10:24

@Upontherooftops well it's still a loss! That said, if you list out for me what you've been eating/drinking over the last 3-4 days we'll see if there's anything we can spot that might help

OP posts:
BIWI · 16/05/2022 10:27

Also, @Upontherooftops, you make it sound like it's not a lot, but 800g is not far short of 2lbs! How did you do in the first week?

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 16/05/2022 11:01

2.2lb on for me, expected and planned for, gym and strict boot camp for 2 weeks. Started the day with a little 5 mile walk before breakfast.
Leaves me with 4kg to lose for this boot camps target.

Lougle · 16/05/2022 11:23

Wow, so I've just tried some Montezuma's 100%. That stuff is seriously strong. my little piece was 3g and it lasted what felt like forever on my tongue. The bar will last many, many weeks, I feel.

Upontherooftops · 16/05/2022 11:51

BIWI · 16/05/2022 10:24

Yes, it is definitely better to have lost it than gained it. I'd lost it by Weds though and the scales have just gone up and down by the same 100g so it's pretty annoying. I lost 2.1 kilos/4.6 lbs last week,

Last few days have been:

Breakfast everyday: 2 boiled eggs with butter

L: fish pie with the cheese sauce recipe from here and celeriac mash and broccoli
D - Chicken traybake with cauliflower, asparagus, sprouts, olive oil, spices

L -Diced chicken breast with bag of kale baked with olive oil, garlic salt, 5 spice to be fake chinese takeaway seaweed.
D - Salmon fillet with cauliflower rice and buttered asparagus.

L - pork fillet with mushrooms and shallots in a cream sauce on cauliflower rice
D - salmon fillet with buttered leeks.

L- chicken with spinach salad
D - Chicken curry (tomato, onion) on cauliflower rice.

Snacks have been slices of salami or greek yoghurt (haven't been measuring that each time but I've been on the same 500g tub for about a week now and I've only eaten half of it which i think is ok, I generally have a tablespoon of it at a time). I'm using loads of fat and eating lots of veg, maybe I'm overdoing those?

I'm not particularly hungry and carb flu has gone. Am drinking all the water! I don't have milk in tea.

Lucienandjean · 16/05/2022 12:23

Well, I've lost 0.2pounds this week. 😳 I can't say I'm surprised - I've been away for 4 days and even though I've tried very hard to stick to this WOE, I suspect there have been some hidden carbs in food I've had in cafes etc. I guess it's good that I've not put weight on!

I think I'm going to stay on BC for another week at least before moving to Bootcamp Light. Hopefully that'll get me back on track. I have several stones to lose so I'm in this for the long term.

mimosa1 · 16/05/2022 12:39

Found you! I'm down 1kg this week, and manger to stay just under 80kg at 79.8kg.
I'm pleased as I need the motivation as I'm going to Paris again for work and it may be tricky to stay on plan. I'm going to make some sandwiches with LC bread to take with me and tide me over and avoid drinking at the work socialising.

Newlease · 16/05/2022 12:52

thanks for the new thread @BIWI
I am yet to catch up with the end of last thread, but well done for all losers and KOKO for others.
I have lost 3.44lbs, first week for me, but still happy with this. It’s much more than the first week of my last bootcamp. I am used to weight in kg, so in kg, I was 65.9 yesterday night, but today 66.3. Entering that on the sheet.
@Upontherooftops My weight loss was very slow as well in last bootcamp. Going back and forth between the same figure and not going down, but the clothes fit differently, so something is happening.
Only thing I am doing differently this time is water. I somehow feels very difficult to drink during the day. But I think that is why I didn’t loose as much as I should last time. So downloaded the app, and getting on it regularly. hoping that would show some result

Frenchpoodle · 16/05/2022 13:02

I’m down 6lbs since the start of bootcamp (didn’t record my weight last Monday, so not sure about weekly loss). Very happy with that. Need to update spreadsheet when I get chance.

B: Greek yoghurt, cream, raspberries and chia seeds
L: Avocado salad with oily dressing
D: I’m trying a version of @bibliomanias spinachy, mushroom, eggy dish - inspired by Maya Angelou. I’m going to fry mushrooms, garlic, and crumbled sausage then add wilted chard and do an eggy, cheesy, creamy topping. Will report back if it’s a success 😊

TheRealShedSadie · 16/05/2022 13:04

Thank you BIWI! Static for me and no loss this week. I think that’s what I expected though at this stage. I’ll be continuing with boot camp in the week and maybe lite at weekends. See how it goes.

Breakfast today, bacon and eggs with asparagus and coffee with cream.

bibliomania · 16/05/2022 13:26

Hope you enjoy it, @Frenchpoodle !

meloncolic · 16/05/2022 13:51

Oh dear, I fell off the wagon with my kids birthday and regained 4lbs!!

Back ON the wagon with eggs and avocado for brunch. Black coffee, hot water and cocoa made with 100% cocoa powder, hot water, dash cream, dash salt.
