Here's a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness lovingly managed by @ouchmyfeet.

I've added a couple of names that I've spotted this evening, but they're at the bottom of the list not alphabetised - if your name isn't on the list, add yours at the bottom, and we'll re-alphabetise it once we get going.

Feel like I've eaten loads today!

B sausage, fried egg, mushrooms & tomato

L big bowl of salad with feta

D bolognese with courgetti and grated cheese

Only thing that went wrong was the lunch salad was supposed to be tuna- but the tin of tuna I had squirreled away in the cupboard turned out to be bamboo shoots Grin

Random789 · 17/01/2022 19:17

Thanks v much for the spreadsheet help BIWI Smile

prettybird · 17/01/2022 19:17

@YesIcan3 - you don't specify what the mixed bag is Confused As long as you've had plenty of veg with your chicken thigh and with your stir fry, that looks good Smile

And yes, the whole point of this WoE is that it satiates you. The most difficult thing (in my experience) is re-learning to listen to true hunger pangs from your body Shock and to stop eating/snacking out of habit Blush

Tonight I'm having cheeseburger pie (in the recipe thread). I've had to supplement the L&P Worcestershire sauce in the mince base with some Kikkoman soy sauce as I was sure I had a spare bottle of L&P and didn't Confused

I've also incorporated a sprinkling of sliced gherkins under the cheese topping. I've seen it suggested but never tried it.

I'll serve it with brussels and/or cabbage.

@byebyecarbs I am one of the big losers of previous low carb eating (50lbs ish). I think I slowly drifted back into carbs but then the carb/sugar addiction took over and I regained it all. Had some brief forays back into low carb but always had reasons to give up (DH was cooking, life was chaos etc), plus also did IF (I don't lose much as I eat the wrong things), and even slimming world (the horror!).
I know if I find a sensible level of low carb with occasional carbs, I'll be fine, but it's so easy to set off the cravings with a few too many high sugar sessions. Take breakfast, for example. When I'm LC or IF I'm not usually hungry until 11/12. When I'm eating all the carbs, I wake up wanting toast.

YesIcan3 · 17/01/2022 19:25

@prettybird sorry! It was a mixed leaves bag from aldi rocket/spinach ect. Grin It's my first healthy day this year then thought oh no thats terrible Blush

BetterthanIthink · 17/01/2022 19:26

Good evening everyone. I’ve lots to lose . Heaviest I’ve ever been . Peri menopausal on HRT and have a underactive thyroid .
I know low carb / keto works so hoping this boot camp will give me the kick up the bum I need!
Lunch was tuna salad ( all low carb salad)
Dinner was a lovely roast chicken with cauliflower mash and broccoli.

Delicious 😋

@byebyecarbs

I'm getting some great food inspiration on here and definitely going to try the sprout thingy!

Another thing that I'm getting from this thread is that lots of people have lost a lot of weight doing this but then regained it. So I guess the most important thing for me to learn as a result of people sharing their experiences is that this shouldn't be a temporary fix but a lifelong commitment to eating minimal carbs. Would the people that regained their weight mind saying whether once they'd lost the weight if they abandoned low-carbing altogether or just took their eye of the ball a bit and relaxed the rules and it was a gradual gain? Or was it more to do with lockdown and the strange circumstances of the last couple of years.

For me personally in 2017 I lost weight for my wedding and then after it I dabbled with reintroducing carbs slowly to keep weight off. Unfortunately, I have PCOS and I’ve learned since that a ‘normal’ diet isnt possible for me. PCOS is caused by/ causes insulin resistance which is basically where your body ‘over reacts’ to carbs and produces too much insulin, so you end up storing more of your carbs as fat than normal people. In real terms, it means you gain weight FAST and it’s very hard to shift it.

I decided that this was bollocks and I could eat carbs like everyone else and be fine - so I did... aaaaand gained 5st in 2 years Hmm

Knob.

Anyway, I was going through some hefty fertility issues and knew the only way I can have a normal cycle was to eat low carb because that was the only time in my life I’d had a period more often than twice a year. Sure enough I went back to low carb and my periods came back. I got pregnant consistently, had a lot of miscarriages but eventually my little boy stuck and was born in March 2021. While ttc I lost 2 stone just as a side effect of low carbing to bring back my cycle.

I kept that off during pregnancy (pregnancy ‘cures’ PCOS temporarily so I was able to eat whatever I liked and not gain.. it was genuinely like magic).

Then when I had my boy I continued eating my pregnancy diet and didn’t adapt to the fact PCOS was going to come back Blush

Sure enough, back it came and i ballooned. Here I am 9 months after having DS and I need to get this weight off now. No more babies for me so it’s time to settle in to low carb eating for life, as daunting as that is.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 17/01/2022 19:33

I’ve got loads to lose too - I’m 20st at 5ft 5 Blush

Cauli mash sounds lovely, I’m trying that!

I identify so strongly with your last point there. For me, there’s just no such thing as ‘moderate carbs’. It’s not until you experience the absence of cravings and hunger that you realise they were always there before.

BIWI · 17/01/2022 19:42

@YesIcan3

Its really weird I feel like iv eaten a lot today B-spinach & cheese omelette D-chicken thigh & mixed bag 1 teaspoon mayo T-chicken stir fry. No snacks at all feel full my menu looking like it should?
@YesIcan3 it looks OK, but how much fat are you using? Why only a teaspoon of mayo?! Remember this is a high fat way of eating. So hopefully you had an oily dressing with your salad, fried your omelette in plenty of butter, and used plenty of fat in your stir fry?

Stir-fries can often be low in fat - part of the reason they've become so popular! - so a good trick is to drizzle sesame oil over the top of it before you serve.

@DollyDingleberry it’s lovely . I mashed with butter and parmesan cheese .
It’s best to steam the cauliflower then let the steam disperse first as i find it’s less water ty that way .

dogmandu · 17/01/2022 19:49

How are we with marmite? I like a cup of hot water with half a teaspoon of marmite in it. I can't find any mention of it on here...I think it should be OK.
thanks

I shall instant pot it so it will stay dry - silencing DH out for parmasan tomorrow Grin

Davina69 · 17/01/2022 19:50

Phew well that's my first day done. I feel I've done ok

B - babybel cheese
L - olives and some continental meat salad
D - mince with taco spices wrapped in lettuce instead of the usual shells

The only struggle has been my water intake. My office is ridiculously cold and water just wasn't appealing today !

DollyDingleberry · 17/01/2022 19:52

It’s 30g carb per 100g so a no from me - you want to stick to foods under 10g carb per 100g. Having said that, you’re dissolving it in water so not sure if the rules change?
DollyDingleberry · 17/01/2022 19:53

*sending DH not silencing... although if he refuses we might go for silencing Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 17/01/2022 20:02

Fogmandu, despite the carb count, if you’re using half a teaspoon it should be fine. Nowhere near 100g.

Dolly is right, though, and I’d expand on that to say regarding vegetables you’re looking for 5g per 100g max.

Which is not to say you can’t have, for example, coleslaw from a shop that has four slivers of grated carrots in it. The point is to entirely avoid something like sweet potatoes as a side.

The spreadsheet has a tab that gives a good idea of veg and carb contents for guidance.

In my case it was the carbs that made me gain weight in the first place so it makes sense that I can't go back to eating them again. It's one reason why we call this a Way of Eating (WOE) rather than a diet. When you reach your ideal weight then you can reintroduce some carbs that aren't allowed on Bootcamp but you still have to keep your overall carbs low. At weight maintenance I don't worry about e.g. flour thickening a takeaway curry, or how many carbs are in the sausages of a full English breakfast. But other than that I pretty much follow Bootcamp Light all the time. The main difference would be that I might have an occasional higher carb food such as a dessert after a meal out. But the emphasis is on occasional.

many thanks. I think I'll continue with it then . It's good when I'm desperate for salty stuff.

If I remember right we’re supposed to have more salt on this WOE because of all the water so it will help with that!

Pleaseandthankyou · 17/01/2022 20:19

OMG the thought of goose omelette! It’s freezing here. The country roads were sparkling as I was driving home from work. Made fridge soup. The contents vary with what is about to expire in my fridge. One leek cooked in butter, added half a cauliflower with leaves and 1/4 white cabbage. Cook the veg in the butter for as long as your patience lasts. Two teaspoons turmeric (supposed to be good for me). One teaspoon spicy Moroccan spice mix. Added water and stock cube. Blended then added the remains of a tub of double cream. Delicious and I am so full now.

byebyecarbs · 17/01/2022 20:26

Thanks so much to everyone who answered my question about regaining weight. One of the reasons I asked is because I'd also lost weight and regained it over the last couple of years. I kidded myself I was low carbing when I wasn't - I was eating high fat plus some carbs thrown in for good measure. Long term strict low-carbing is clearly the key to success here.
