April Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 1

Welcome everyone!

Here, as ever, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness created and lovingly managed by the wonderful @AthelstaneTheUnready

Hopefully you should find that you're already on the spreadsheet - but if not, just add your name to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that for you. And don't touch the blue cells or try to enter any other data or comments!

For those that are new, each week I'll start a new chat thread, on Monday, and we'll start off with recording our weight.

However

You don't have to use your weight to measure your progress - and you don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to be. Instead, take your measurements each week (bust/upper arms/waist/hips/thighs), or find an item of clothing that's just too tight/small right now, and keep trying it on each week.

The rules of Bootcamp are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - but here's a quick summary of the rules for the first two weeks:

  1. Eat three meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you're eating vegetables and salad with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy, apart from butter which is unlimited
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar/artificial sweeteners

Make sure you have a really good read of the spreadsheet for the full detail of the rules. Also, check out the tabs at the bottom - there's a huge amount of information that will really help you, especially if you're new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

There's also a thread here of FAQs which should be helpful.

Some thread etiquette

The thread will move really quickly - especially at the beginning.

But please take the time to read everyone's posts, rather than just plopping on with your own comments/thoughts/questions. It's very frustrating when someone comes on to the thread to ask a question that's been posed and answered already!

Don't lurk!

I know that not everyone is confident about posting - and also that there are a lot of posters who are regular Bootcampers, and who know other Bootcampers. Please don't think this is a cliquey thread. It couldn't be further from the truth!

Everyone's views and experiences are welcome and valid, so jump in and post.

Any questions, please just post. Or PM me. There's always someone here who can help - and if I or they can't, then we can always find someone who can!

Above all, very good luck to everyone.

I very much hope that by the time we come to the end of these ten weeks, that we really are (as a country) completely ready to leave Lockdown well behind.

I am The Real Biwi - Grin - but also know just how expensive those shakes can be, so being pragmatic.

Being release from prison has also made me unexpectedly benign.

Wow littleowl those pictures are amazing. I remember seeing some of the first ones but the last one is incredible. I hope you are sufficiently proud.

I’ve measured myself and since Christmas I have put 2in on my bust and back - which I’ve noticed when putting my lovely new bras on. And I’ve put on 5in on my waist Shock . So irritated with myself. Also I have not been able to prepare properly for this week as I’ve had this crappy cold which I keep thinking will be gone the next day, but is actually more bleurch. So haven’t done a proper shop and now I’m realising how little appropriate or combinable food I have.

B - 2 egg, spinach and bacon omelette
Snack - a peperami and a frankfurter
L - chicken and red pepper red thai curry
D - will probably be donor meat and coleslaw

I know, quite a shit effort for my first day. But I managed to resist the eating leftovers trap I always fall into so as not to waste food this morning as I made ds2 a bacon panini and he had 2 tiny bites and said he was full. Usually I’d eat the rest, but I picked the bacon out and put it in my omelette instead, and looked away as I binned the roll. I hate wasting food so much.

Thank you very much,**@nowlook**. That is very helpful. I can certainly understand the hazards of nuts as a snack -- too easy to inhale a million calories without thinking! And I hadn't realised that no-nuts was just for the first two weeks. That makes sense.

Thank you so much, @AthelstaneTheUnready for adding me to the spreadsheet. I've put my weight in, with my heart in my mouth in case I did the Magic Bad Commenting Thing that ruined the spreadsheet. I hope I haven't. Ihave an unhappy relationship with spreadsheets. Usually I think they exist solely to intimidate me.

Well, that was a rollercoaster. BIWI was both suspended and reinstated while I caught up Grin

Failed in in that it's gone 4pm and I've missed lunch Blush BUT I am on my 3rd 750ml bottle of water. Need to get my finger out defrosting chicken legs for dinner though.

BIWI thanks so much that's really good to hear. I need to have surgery in June and would be v good to have a healthier BMI for that too.

Pleasure!

Entirely up to you. If you want to use starting weight now and just track progress from today, then put the same number in columns B and C.

If you want to track progress from today AND progress since you starting losing weight, then put your heaviest weight in column B, and today's weight in column C.

Like 50footwave has, in the line just above yours.

Afternoon campers!

Just back from the pub. Was marvellous Grin

Starter: smoked salmon with citrus creme and endive salad
Main: Featherblade of beef with cavolo nero (and the mushrooms from DH and DC's ribeye).

A full 750ml glass bottle of sparkling water to myself. Hurray!

I've added your weight cheeseisthebest. But if you lose more than 2lbs this week you're going to have to give your weight in pounds :-)

Welcome back BIWI Grin. I hope it wasn't about the stuff where you can't be near a naked flame. I find the whole thing vair depressing, to be honest.

I fell off the wagon a couple of weeks before the end of the last bootcamp and was too embarrassed to rejoin. The damage isn't too bad though, and I'm hoping this bootcamp will help me get to below 60kg by the summer. I'm also looking forward to the reduced bloating, clearer skin and not wanting to fall asleep in the afternoon that always happen on low carb.
Great to see the thread moving so fast.

Hello all! First day report. Really need to aim for 2 stone loss to feel better about self. But also know that may take some time so trying to focus on small goals of one week of good keto-ing at a time. So tracking here with all you good people will help!

So far: black coffee (not really a bfast person aka good for 16:8)
Lunch: eggs, salad leaves, blue cheese
Dinner plan: courgette and veg soup.

Food feeling virtuous but haven't fit in much (ANY) movement to the day though...
